Duggars by the Dozenty!!11!- Part 19 and counting

Since we are talking about how we discover their first heard of the Duggars I have to say unfortunately it was my mother who first introduced me to the Duggars. She found them amazing because if my mom had married a very rich man and was younger she would have probably just as many children thankfully she did not because I am one of those and I hated helping to raise them (I helped with the last two and it was a mightmare).

So, as soon as I got my own laptop aside from roleplaying I began to watch some of the 16 and counting episodes. I believe one of the very first was A very Duggar wedding in which I believe my reaction was this: Wait, there are some freakaziods out there who think KISSING is bad?!

I feel we ought to do something to commemorate the event.  What would be appropriate?

Fireworks?

Black armbands?

A group reading of the police report?

A blog about "Where were you when you first heard?"

Barbecue?  Beer?

Brain bleach?

:my_huh:

                      ....... Beer.

                           Cheers, y'all!

I'm always up for a beer. But I think a more online type of celebration would be appropriate, at least for me. I have spent

WAY too much time enjoying the Trials and Tribulations of the Duggars!

Maybe the ten funniest comments we remember? Seems wrong to let it pass. Maybe we can pick a time and all sing out loud. Something with a beat!

Well, i think my story is the weirdest. I was watching a really bad lifetime movie on tv, searched on google for a review and ended up on crushable. I found an article related about the duggars comparing holocaust to abortion. This was december 2013 or january 2014. That woman had birthed 19 kids, the freak factor was calling me

Well, my recollection of this momentous occasion may be a bit different than the rest ...

Early spring of 2015, a Bill Gothard leg-humper friend from long ago found out I was going to be visiting family within 2 hours of Duggarville.  So she invited me to meet her there and be a "Duggar for the Day."

Well, imagine my level of Gobsmacked-ness when FJ broke the news.  Needless to say, Mrs. J spouted the party line in defense of Josh and everyone. Considering my own battle to be believed regarding childhood abuse and teenage rape, I told her to go to hell.  We haven't spoken since.

If this is a contest, I think you win.

I know a woman with exactly the same kind of personality. She hates kids though, so none of those.

Not very smart, but my she's as cunning as a sh*thouse rat. (I'm not sure if this is an Aussie saying or what not).

The kind of people that coast along and no-one really notices...

Not heard it before, but I'm gonna add that to my repertoire :pb_lol:

Anyone else watch Bill Mahr?  I don't usually but yesterday I saw a replay of the episode from two weeks ago.  He was doing a bit aout the fact that Trump is now the republican candidate and did an "In Memoriam" for the other candidates.  As part of that he included the pictures of the 10 or so that had posed with Joshley for pictures.  HAHAHA

I've been aware of the Duggars since their first special. So over a decade ago. I also watched all the episodes of children by the dozen" or whatever it was called. I was always a TLC/Discovery channel junkie.

Ok, let's play.  What are some of the "funniest" comments we remember?

I had heard about the "Sin in the Camp"**** and allegations a number of years ago.  I confess, that even though I found the JB and Joshley to be super creepy, I did believe that this was about Josh acting normally as a teenage boy.   To be clear, I hadn't heard that he had molested his sisters--only that he had been caught with porn and blamed for the demise of a campaign (thus the sin in the camp) and had inappropriately touched a girl his age.  My interpretation:  He had playboy under his mattress and had been caught kissing a girl and the whole Gothard/ATI folks had labeled it porn and molestation.  OH BOY--was I in for a shock.

I had been a long time lurker to FJ==just to catch the usual snark after a courtship or wedding or some other stupid live event that the Duggars had "walked though".

I immediately joined and bookmarked the site!  It's been an addiction since. Furthermore, i confess that when Joshgate 2 broke, I was absolutely giddy to see it unfold!

***Theologically the story of "Sin in the Camp" comes from the book of Joshua in the Old Testament.  (God does not support the Israelites in their quest because Achan had taken things that did not belong to him)  So, it was always rather convoluted whether Josh was being blamed or someone was quoting the OT.

I have a vague memory of stumbling upon FreeJinger a looooong time ago and not understanding what it was/being too overwhelmed to really dig deep.

Then when the scandals came about I must have found you guys again. I'm not sure if I just recalled the name, or if I FJ somewhere else. But I hiked up my pants and went a-digging

I was obsessed with the Duggars from their beginning. I remember being on AIM and talking with a Christian friend about them when they were building the TTH house. We both decided that if we were Josh we would demand a shed for us to live in instead. I was in my freshman year of college when Josie was born, and I remember everyone on the floor coming around because I made such a huge deal that I was so grossly fascinated by them. Everyone else sat down and we were all freaked out together. I must sadly admit I did fall for it at first. I didn't want to be them, and I didn't want to raise my kids like that, but I was shocked that they didn't have debt and their whole buy used shtick. Once I got a little older and a little more liberal, I began to see them as they are and FJ is now a perfect fit for me.

I found out about the scandal from my Facebook News Feed. I remember my first thoughts were 'Holy s***, wtf is wrong with him?!' The only time before that that I had even heard of the Duggars were when my parents had Jessa's wedding on.

And if I remember right, the article mentioned this site, which is how I found all of you!

it mentioned us - how scary for us :D

I remember the week of Jill's wedding - it aired the same week that Jessa actually got married

:D

i joined - when did I join ? I think Ben and Jessa were courting I forget

Well, of course I can't find them, they are all over the place. But one comment about them yelling "Nike" when temptation beckoned, was something like Nike? Don"t they know their slogan is "Just Do It?" That just hit my funny bone.
