NEW YORK (AP) - Levi Johnston writes in his upcoming book that his ex-girlfriend Bristol Palin was so angry about her mother's pregnancy with son Trig that she wanted to get pregnant, too.

Johnston says when Bristol found out her mother, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, was expecting a baby she responded she should be having a baby, not her mother. He says she told him in March 2008, "let's get pregnant."

His book, "Deer in the Headlights: My Life in Sarah Palin's Crosshairs," comes out Sept. 20. The Associated Press bought a copy on Monday.

In Bristol Palin's own book, "Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far," released last June, she says she lost her virginity to Johnston on a camping trip when she got drunk on wine coolers.

Johnston, who has feuded often with the Palin family, says in his book if that's when Bristol first had sex, he "wasn't there." He says they did camp with friends but it was "well after" the two, who began dating in 2006, were sexually active. He says he remembers an instance in which Bristol wanted to get alcohol but he was against it because she would "lose her judgment" when drinking.

Johnston says he had "been too dumb" to use protection while dating Bristol but knew having a baby was "what she wanted."

Bristol Palin, who has been featured on ABC's TV dance competition "Dancing With the Stars," became pregnant at age 17 and had their baby at 18.

Johnston says when Sarah Palin first learned of the teen pregnancy she laughed, thinking it was a joke. He writes it was her husband, Todd Palin, who really showed his anger, raising his voice and telling him he needed to quit school and get a job.

Johnston claims Sarah Palin, the former Republican vice presidential candidate, also had an idea to adopt Bristol's baby to "avoid a scandal" but the young couple wouldn't allow it. Their son, Tripp, was born in December 2008.

Johnston says he and Sarah Palin were present for the birth but she said he wasn't there in a later interview, calling it "shameful." He also says she was adamant about not being called grandma, instead wanting to be called Mommy Sarah.

The relationship between Johnston and Bristol Palin ended shortly after the birth of their son.

Johnston says Bristol was moody before having Tripp and even more so after. He says she criticized how he handled their son and accused him of wanting her to look like a bad mom. He says Bristol also complained he was cheating on her.

In Bristol Palin's book, she says they broke up soon after their son's birth when she found a text on his cellphone indicating he was unfaithful.

The two reunited 18 months later and sold their engagement story to Us Weekly magazine.

Bristol says they broke up when he admitted getting another girl pregnant, which Johnston denies.

Sarah Palin skewered Johnston in her book "America by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith, and Flag," writing that it was "disgusting" to watch him exploit his sudden fame after she was chosen as U.S. Sen. John McCain's running mate in the 2008 presidential election. She said he disgraced himself by repeatedly criticizing the Palins.

This "he said, she said" stuff is ridiculous. They both need the shut the hell up and take care of their kid.

Yeah, the moment you publicly attack the parent of your child, you get asshole points in my book.

They both are. They are neck and neck in the douche race, IMO. But I believe Bristol is more manipulative. I was sickened by her little performance on Dr. Drew and could not watch for more than a few minutes.

LOL, isn't that what Quinn said about her pregnancy on Glee?

I think they're all full of crap. I wouldn't believe any one of them if they told me it was cold in Alaska without flying up there myself to check it out. They all try so hard to make themselves look saintly and the other look like the demon seed that none of the stories ring true. I do think it's kind of lousy for a grown woman to dish so much crap on a teenager, especially when she's the one responsible for Levi's "fame" because she dragged her trainwreck of a family into the limelight in the first place.

Okay, I have an acquaintance in Alaska who was the Palin's personal photographer. She knew Bristol and said she was a wild child, and that Bristol wanted to have a baby (and talked openly to her about it). I wouldn't be at all surprised if that was true (and I have no reason to believe it's not). However, that little boy is what... 2 now? Time for them to act like adults and be parents.

I think that Levi Johnston is an opportunist. However, everything he has said so far has turned out to be true. He said that Sarah P would quit being governer and write a book. he sad she was all about the money and the lifestyle.

Sarah is all about spin. She forced her family to lie for her sice they were children. They have learned nothing but to spin a story to their own advantage. I think FJers equate her so strongly with the QF folks because she has demanded that her family always smile and always paint a rosey picture, no matter what is going on. There is not one honest story/relationship or emotion in the entire family.

Levi is a handsome boy from a lower class family. His family has no polish. When they are resentful, it shows. When they are being pigs, it shows. They are not warm and fuzzy nor are the likeable. But Levi is telling the truth.

That is just my take on it.

I'm not on anyone's "side" but I don't believe Bristol intentionally got pregnant, or that Levi is so weak-willed that he would just go along with it. He's a liar and an attention whore, just like the Palins. The story is just ridiculous and I'm pretty sure he's trying to lay the groundwork for a claim that the kid isn't his. They're both terrible people and I feel sorry for that kid, but I don't believe this story. What kind of teenage boy would hear is girlfriend say "Let's have a baby!" and then just respond by saying "Well, um, ok I guess"?

+1 to both of these comments. I fervently hope the whole lot of Palins/Johnstons will stay in Alaska and implode privately from here on out. Johnston doesn't have as much likability, but it really disgusts me that Bristol is held up as some kind of role model with her speaking jobs and whatnot. NO GET AWAY FROM TEENAGERS I DON'T WANT YOU TEACHING THEM ANYTHING.

I don't like Bristol either, but to me it always seems like it's Levi who stirs the pot after a few months of the Palins being largely unnoticed. They're both opportunists, both manipulative, both complete douches. Seriously, I think you have to be up to the Palin family's Douche Standards to marry in or breed with one. Levi is more of a douche and an opportunist than Bristol.

Bristol wrote the first book where she pretty much claimed that he raped her! I think they're both idiots.

Its not about believing either of them. What about the kid, when he's old enough to be reading this crap his parents wrote about his conception?

These people are wasting oxygen that can be used for other living creatures.

Actually? This happened several times in my high school that I know of. And the conversation literally went something like that. Not to say I believe Levi. Or Bristol. I believe her slightly less, but whatever. They're both idiots who care more about their "fame" than their child.

I think Levi is a dim bulb who went along with whatever his girlfriend said because he was getting sex and 17/18 years old and not thinking with his brain. My husband's nephew is in the same position now,it happens more often than people like to admit. I bet most of us know someone in the same boat.

I can't stand any of them, would not buy any of their books and hope they take care of their kid and fade into oblivion where they belong.

I'm not taking sides but I agree I really wonder about the kid and how this mudslinging is going to effect later on when he finds out about the books, interviews and other crazy stuff that has happened between the Palins and Johnstons. Right now Sarah Palin and her family are people I wish the media would forget about.

      Stupid loneliness!
Kid 1 went back to college (yeah! But sad foe me, she stayed with me all summer. It was nice to start a new phase in our mother/daughter relationship)
Zero prospects on dates. (Not that I have tried online dating, scared of that but I have reached put to a new group at church, etc.
I asked a friend to go to dinner the other night so I wasn't eating alone, again. The friend had plans, all my friends always have plans. I see stuff on social media, I'm never invited. I'm single, I'm the 3rd or 5th wheel.
My one parent friend at kid 2's fall sport won't be there because their daughter made varsity (Yeah for her!!! Seriously happy for her. Sad for me for another sport I basically sit alone, did that majority of spring and summer sporting events.)
And now I'm crying as my mom told me 2 different funny stores that former teachers remembered about my twin. Both stories were about how they got a crack out of my twin's antics (my parents went to a funeral today and saw former colleagues). Teachers remember me (after all I was a twin and teachers' kid) but none would have memorable stories of me.
      I feel invisible.
Don't worry, this will pass,  it always does. I just need a pity party for a few days. I'm not in anyway going to harm myself. As lonely as I am, I have a very full life I (usually) love. I just needed to vent and cry for a moment.
If you are still reading this, thanks Fjer. 😊

Absolutely awful about the fires on Maui. In 2019, I stayed in Lahaina. I liked to sit on the sea wall, which is the only structure left now, and watch the water. People are receiving help, but many had to leave pets. Please donate to the Maui Humane Society, which is leading efforts to find, treat, and reunite pets.
