Emily Long is Married!

This video is for all those who worried that these two young people who had remained pure for this day, might find their first kiss painfully awkward. We’ll let you be the judge of that.

One is not made "impure" by kissing or even having sex before marriage.  I'll tell you what is "impure" though-a dark heart.

A mother who treats her first daughter (from back in the godless heathen days) different that she treats her other children.

A mother who greets her children at the door with plumbing line after reading To Train Up A Child.

A wife who has affairs.  A husband who has affairs.

A husband who shoots his wife's beloved dog.

Those are the things that make a person "impure".

And something else- this courtship/wedding has been exploited from start to finish. Taking to the blog to brag about chaperoning two adults on the verge of marriage.  It's despicable.  Do you really want to know if it was awkward?  Yes.  It should have been a private moment.  It shouldn't be blog fodder.  And the only thing more awkward than the kiss is the fact that you are on the net sharing videos of it.  Have some boundaries for heaven's sake.

Well, I'm glad they're adjusting "very well" to married life, but I wouldn't make that statement eight days in, when they are both literally and figuratively still in the honeymoon stage.

Cheryl thinks that just admitting her sins makes everything right. No, it doesn't. Not when you use those admissions to feed your pride and sense of moral superiority.

Is this the Treasures from A Shoebox Cheryl?

Interesting. I wonder what the doctrinal differences were that Emily references in the post about their courtship. I know the Longs are IFB but it's not clear to me what the Carmichaels are. Of course, they named a son Wesley, so I'm guessing in the realm of Methodist or Wesleyan.

Thanks @Koala

I somehow missed the name change and I wondered why the old blog had not been updated. I actually checked a couple weeks ago. I must have an old page stuck in my browser cache

Before this courtship, and getting to know Wesley as I do, in all honesty, he was not the man I would have chosen for you. An introvert. Quiet and humble, with a peaceful spirit. Not at all the “Prince Peacock” type of guy I had for years envisioned for you.

Yes, a quiet, humble, introverted man with a peaceful spirit. Your daughter is really slumming it, lady.

And...this entire post...WTF.

Yeah, I desperately want to bone all the men that hugged me at my grandmother's funeral...it's science!

Silly! It's not about what you want, but about what all those guys expect now!

Read a little bit about this family but had to laugh... one of the girls wrote a post about being single and worrying that she won't get married and she was only 22 at the time! I'm nearly twice that and I still have hope! It's sad they have such a narrow view of how their lives should go.

Am I the only one who saw the name Reagan Ramm and thought "porn name"? Oh, the irony!

So she finally got married. I hope she'll have a better life than her idiotic mother...

I see Cheryl is on the middle of a adoption battle with Sabrina... I hope her biological father wins, the hearing was a month ago and she didn't mentioned anything yet.

I read those too.  My family was a foster to adopt family when I was growing up, and I was SHOCKED at how inappropriate Cheryl was with this child.  First, she has her signing her name "Sabrina Long".  THAT'S NOT HER NAME.  My brother and sister knew and used their real names up until their adoptions were finalized, and they were with my family since they were 3 months old each.  Cheryl LIED to this child about her name.

She also had her call them mom and dad.  That is not recommended, but it happens.  However, when you have a familial relationship with a child, using that is much better.  Why couldn't Sabrina have called her Aunt?

Cheryl tried to erase Sabrina's identity to make it easier for her, because God BLESSED her with this child like it was a new van or a puppy.  Sabrina is HERS.  And that is why the entire post is about CHERYL and how CHERYL feels.  Because Sabrina is a thing that can be redefined to fit Cheryl's desires...not an individual person.

Also, if there is 2-3 years of abandonment and the court is seriously hearing the father's request for custody and moving forward with it, something fishy happened there.  Courts HATE abandonment and generally will not move forward with a custody request until the parent has been back around for a certain time.  I have a feeling this child may have been forcibly hidden from the father.

Also, Cheryl is in a bad position.  She cannot adopt unless she terminates the parental rights of the natural parents.  She cannot terminate the rights of the father unless she has a reason.  She will not be able to terminate the rights of a father who is actively suing to be in his child's life.  Courts don't work like that.

Damn, i didn't knew that. I'm hoping the father gets Sabrina, that poor child doesn't deserve Cheryl and Psycho Terry as parents.

So why didn't they marry off Stephanie who is 27?

Also that first kiss was cringey AF but, I actually liked her wedding dress...

it looks like they still have custody of sabrina for now, at least. she's mentioned in 'the thing nobody talks about regarding weddings' post from two days ago.

also..i may be in the minority here, but if any of what cheryl says is true about the father having only met her a couple of times in five years, i really hope they get to keep custody of sabrina. i can't imagine how terrifying and scarring it would be for that little girl to suddenly have to go live with strangers. that isn't right.

I agree with you here. Kids are not a toy that you are automatically entitled to have just because you share the same DNA.  If you haven't been around to care for the child and form a bond, it seems downright cruel to rip them from their family that they know and love.
