I'm sure we've all read that a porn star was inadvertently hired for one of Ted Cruz's ads. Why does that make me smile? :evil3:

Because he is as stupid as he is sleazy.

Sadly, the porn star being in his ad makes him a more believable candidate than any of the lies he spews forth on a daily basis.

I checked out her bio on IMdb and she had a (small) part in  "Sex Sent Me to the ER".  See?  I knew they made that stuff up (in fairness, she was probably "re-enacting" a real-life scenario.  OK.).

"Deviant Whores", "Cowboy Funeral", "Tales of the Saddle Tramps"  and "Milf" are just a few of her titles.....

She sounds like a very funny and smart woman, and I mean no snark or disrespect by that comment.

It was said she did soft porn as opposed to.....what exactly.  Those titles sound pretty graphic.  Of course, my experience of porn is limited to Orgazmo, one of the best and funniest movies evah.  Elder Young, Choda Boy, Mormon missionaries.  But, I digress.  She was very believable in the ad.

AWESOME!  I guess Heidi died after laying all of the eggs.

If only it were true (sob!).

“I need to sing hymns to my eggs, I need to keep my eggs safe from cockroaches and other predators, I need to count my eggs, and I need to keep my eggs wet with Sprite soda. Most importantly, when the eggs hatch, I need to be there so that the hatchlings can devour my body. It has to be me. Thank you to all my supporters, and may God continue to bless this great country.”

I nearly fell to the floor lol

I just find it really funny how he can be so clearly misogynistic and yet once it's his wife he goes all White Knight TM Defender of Women.

Also he's creepy as fuck.

And I'm glad that the Duggars are in no position to make political endorsements because I bet around about now we'd see a "19 Reasons and Counting to Vote for Ted Cruz" if Joshgate hadn't happened.

It does seem like Duggar endorsements have been the kiss of death for politicians' chances of winning their elections. If I were Ted Cruz, I'd wish they'd just not say anything for the next 7+ months.  Then again, maybe they should just go on ahead, blab, and doom his chances (slim as they appear to be right now).

I think it is ridiculous he and Trump got into a twitter battle over their wives. All I can say is watching them go at it I think great two twat waffles trading insults instead of policy matters.

For reasons even I'm unsure of, when I imagine Christine ripping off the Phantom's mask in The Phantom of the Opera it's Ted Cruz's face I imagine as the Phantom's. Not even disfigured just Ted's face. I'm not so sure if Ted's wouldn't terrify me more.

I linked to two articles.  The delegate process is.....complicated and is different for every state -- how delegates are allocated for each state, how the delegates are selected at the state level, who they have to vote for when, and at what stage are they released to vote for whomever they choose -- this is serious wonk territory.

Cruz is doing some hard core strategizing behind the scenes to line up stealth delegates.

Quote

The goal: If Mr. Trump doesn’t win on the first ballot—freeing most delegates from voting for the candidate who won their state’s primary or caucus—Cruz supporters would dominate the convention, paving the way for the Texas senator to win the nomination on a later vote.....

....Mr. Trump’s rivals have another, less visible path to influence over the national convention. In Georgia and elsewhere, the campaigns are navigating a little-known political process that occurs after each state’s primary or caucus sets out how many delegate slots each candidate is allotted.

and more importantly, who fills those delegated slots.

The arcane, convoluted nomination process (as far as I can tell) begins when state selects the delegates who will attend the convention and wear silly hats.

The Wall Street Journal looks at that process in Georgia.  http://www.wsj.com/articles/ted-cruzs-stealth-delegate-hunt-1458604788

My local paper's Sunday edition did an excellent explanation of how Cruz is going about this in Texas:

Quote

There’s a pretty good chance that 155 of 155 delegates from Texas are going to be for (U.S. Sen.) Cruz,” said Steve Munisteri, the former Texas Republican chairman, who was a senior adviser to U.S. Sen. Rand Paul’s presidential campaign and is now neutral.

When the presidential roll is called at the Republican National Convention in July, the chairman of the Texas delegation — undoubtedly Gov. Greg Abbott — will announce that Texas casts 104 votes for Cruz, 48 for Trump and three for U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio. But the actual, flesh-and-blood delegates will almost certainly all be Cruz loyalists who will all be able to vote with Cruz on critical procedural votes that might determine the outcome before the presidential roll is ever called, and, should the convention in Cleveland go to a third ballot or beyond, be free, all 155 of them, to cast their lot with Cruz.

Texas isn’t the only state where Trump is likely be represented by dual allegiance delegates, who are required to vote for Trump but are otherwise determined to undermine his candidacy.

Even in such states as South Carolina and Florida, where Trump won every delegate, and Georgia and Virginia, where Trump finished first and Cruz third, the delegations to the national convention are likely to be replete with a combination of Cruz loyalists and party regulars who won their tickets to Cleveland through delegate selection processes that are entirely separate and distinct from the party’s preference primaries and caucuses that determined to which candidate those delegates are pledged to vote, depending on each state party’s rules, through the first, second or third ballots.

Oh, boy, I watched his "winning" speech in WI. What a nutjob. Abolish the IRS? How is the country going to pay it's bills? No one likes the IRS, but it is a necessary evil. I can't imagine this man as President. I think WI people were voting against Trump more than voting for Cruz.

The Republican party's only hope is a contested convention with a new person taking the nomination.

Not just abolish the IRS.  Abolish it with a flat tax.  I sat befuddled on how a flat tax would abolish the IRS since taxes still would require collecting.

Well seeing as everyone is a good Christian and faithfully donates their full 10% tithe every week, you know they will all faithfully deposit their flat tax every year...

I'm hoping Trump gets the Republican nomination because he is clearly NOT electable, whereas Ted Cruz stands a chance of becoming our next president.

Nobody's even come close to scratching off the veneer and getting right down to Ted Cruz' crazy.  This is a man whose father thinks he has been anointed by God to be the next prez, and I'm sure Ted believes that too.  He also has a very special talent for pissing people off.   On the issues, I'm not seeing his vision as anything other than tearing up government and making things better for ultra right-wing Christians.

I watched his speech, too. I was annoyed when he claimed that he would keep us safe. Hasn't Obama done that.

And then there was the time Ted Cruz fought for dildo personhood. (OK, not really, but equated the use of sex toys to hiring a prostitute).

Has this been discussed before?

http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2016/04/ted-cruz-dildo-ban-sex-devices-texas

People don't have a constitutional right to non-procreative manipulation of one's genitals outside of an interpersonal relationship.

I just thought y'all should know so you can knock it off right now.

Could someone please explain to me how on earth those Republicans managed to sell the public that they stand for small government and freedom??

They are for huge government intervention in personal and economical matters, not to mention that they support corporatism and warmongering. In fact, I'm pretty sure that many Democrats stand for more freedom for the general public than most Republicans do.

Honestly, I don't know, but I'm getting sick of it.

They're all for small government when it comes to providing people healthcare, housing, and education, but when they're talking about surveilling what goes on on people's bedrooms between two consenting adults, they're suddenly all for various types of Big Brother panopticon surveillance strategies.

I would venture to guess it's because their religious beliefs either explicitly or implicitly lead them to believe that the entire nation will be judged by the behavior of its citizens (e.g. the floods last year were because God was mad that we allowed gay marriage), so they want to monitor morality so consider expenditure of funds totes OK for those purposes.

Or they're just Puritanical assholes who want control over people--predominantly women.

He went out and bought 100 cans of soup after his honeymoon and told his wife it was because he knew she wouldn't cook for him. Are his hands broken? Can be not follow a recipe? Oh, I guess cooking is women's work.
