Is anyone here familiar with the ministry called Everyman's Battle where they go over porn addiction. I know I mentioned the book with the same title before. I remember when my husband and I were moving he had two copies of the stupid book. I called it the don't acknowledge the pink elephant in the room book. This particular ministry does seminars all over the country. I wonder if they would hire him. As far as the molestation it would be spun as youthful curiosity and the "liberal" media made it into something it wasn't. Just typing that horrible Duggar apologetic makes me nausea. Has anyone else brought up where they think Josh may have gotten the idea to violate minors in their sleep. He knew it wasn't appropriate, but kept at it and only after his behavior escalated did his parents see a need to address his behavior with outside help.

Same here. I wrote to them after my dad took his life and I had to Baker Act my mom. At the age of 17 I had to bury half my family and keep my mother from joining them. I got weirdly religious for about a month and looked up to their "unwavering blind faith."

Thank you for all supporting my public confession, and for sharing that some of you did the same! Thinking back, what makes me the most angry is that the show really was a platform that almost got me caught in another cult. Out of one and into a another. It upsets me greatly, and I hope all the time that no one actually does accept the various support they may offer and then become a trapped quiverfull person. (But, look at Derick ...)

... At least I know I have one of the older's girls email addresses and could write if she started trying to get out -- or if I grew brave enough to not care that Boob could give away personal information about me after he figures out who contacted his child with "inappropriate" ideas or whatnot

This shit kept me up at night for years.  It was like my own personal horror movie that followed me around wherever I went. :(

This feeling of impending doom lasted until I was about in my mid 30s. I knew intellectually that that fundie stuff was nonsense but childhood programming is powerful stuff.

If I hadn't been so stubborn inside (but sweet on the outside)  I really don't know when or if I would have broken free. It scares me a little to think about it. I think it depends on what your psychological make-up is and what your BS switch is set to. ;)

I feel for and kind of understand why some fundies leave and some stay even as adults.

We're all speshul snowflakes ;)

@Jucifer,  I wish I could like this at least a hundred times! You put so many of my thoughts into perfect words. I have a feeling we have a similar stubborn/sweet/psychological/bs switch combination. Lots of applause for leaving and for posting something so insightful. I feel so incredibly understood right now - it's amazing. THANK YOU!

XOXO, colors outside!

I feel like we're a lot alike too. :)

soooo..... where is he? We figured he'd be back in the public eye in some capacity by Easter. But so far just reports of him furniture shopping in Arkansas.  No pictures? No family social media of "welcome back josh"? Why are they keeping him so deep undercover? afraid of media scrutiny?

The Duggars are used to keeping things and people undercover.  Remember after Josh went to rehab it was months before Anna's real whereabouts were known.   How often have they hidden things from the public to make a bigger splash on the show or give an exclusive to some paper?

I'm a card-carrying liberal feminist, raised by card-carrying liberal feminists.  And I had zero idea about how truly destructive their practices are for the first few years I kept up with their lives.  The combination of TLC and the fawning press coverage in People Magazine has done more damage than I can describe.  Even in the darkest days of the dual scandals in 2015, very few media reports EVER did ANY meaningful probing into the Duggar belief system.  Some of their controversial beliefs may have been mentioned here or there, but very few media outlets did any significant coverage of how batshit crazy the belief system is.  Little to nothing on blanket training.  Little to nothing on the insanely subpar nature of their educations.  And NOBODY talked about how the Duggars share belief systems with families that have been destroyed by abuse.  And I recall very little, if any, discussion of the IBLP shitstorm and the Duggar connections to rapists, molestors, and abusers.

I would like nothing more than for some hard-boiled old-school investigative reporter for a nationally-respected publication to spend months investigating all of this and write a multi-part expose on the whole thing.  And then win a Pulitzer.  So far, it just hasn't gotten the mainstream traction it needs apart from the "entertainment" factor.

This how I came to find Free Jinger. I started searching for what their belief system was, but no articles were saying much besides "conservative Christians". I needed more than that, I need church affiliations, practices, etc. FJ, Recovering Grace, even NLQ is what helped me piece it all together. A journalistic exposè would be fabulous.

So, he'll hide behind his parents and sisters' skirts during the Megyn Kelly Fox interview, go underground at RU for six months and then emerge skinny, shiny and saved for a speaking tour. That makes my blood boil.

I know this part of it is infuriating, but i still think its good they are all still on the air or plan to be in the public eye.  I know its an unpopular view but hear me out - because if they got cancelled immediately after the first report by Intouch, they just would have faded away like honey boo boo. But instead JB and M's wacky defense ( it was only a few touches, mostly over the clothes, etc), the girls' awkward appearance on the molestation special, the insincere forgiveness statements -  they were incredibly enlightening and were extremely effective in drawing negative attention to the cult. I personally was shocked at the extent of craziness in that cult, but only because of what they said on TV after the Intouch article.

I know its painful to think that this one family is making money off of this, but in the end all the exposure is only going to help the anti- cult efforts.

So @anotherone, you're saying you didn't really get the extent of the craziness until you saw how feeble their excuses were, and that's what led you to go digging more? If that's the case, I hope you've gotten to see some of the Gothard manuscripts we've got around...they're nuts!

Oh I wish they hadn't said it was an April Fool's joke. I want to see the leghumpers come out in force to support such a Godly man. I need my entertainment.

Me too- and your name is awesome. :)

Thank you and everyone who welcomed me!

Haha, thanks for the compliment on my username...I...uh.. thought it was somewhat appropriate for this site. To anyone who is religious, I hope you don't take any offense to it. It's more of a history thing, in pagan religions there were gods and goddess affiliated with the "underworld" so that's  really all it is. Though I guess I used to have a satanic past...there was one time I dressed up as the "devil's daughter" for Halloween. I wore pajamas, had my hair in pigtails with devil horns.

Me too I'm dying here! There has got to be someone who can deliver unless he is literally in JB's Jesus Jail at the TTH.

I honestly wonder if any of the Duggars understand that it is the molestations, not the cheating that makes Josh a pariah.

@Arete I think the disconnect between the Duggars and reality seems fairly significant. I suspect that they have fully bought into their own lies and don't comprehend that Josh molesting those five girls is still a huge deal, and not just some minor ooops/lapse in judgement. I'd put money on them thinking that the adultery is the big deal and that they are only going to be addressing that issue as they try to rehabilitate Joshua's public image.

I agree. And I wouldn't be surprised if they blamed it all on porn, the root of all evil. Which of course comes from the wicked heathen world who tempted poor Joshley and thus Satan could build a fortress in his heart.

The Duggars still think cheating is what's wrong and not sexual abuse??? Many people cheat. Cheating is wrong. But cheating involves two consenting adults. The public forgives cheating most of the time. Sexual abuse is be never forgiven. Once you molest a child, your done. You don't pass go you don't collect $200. Everyone hates you. Duggars really need to realize this.

I think they will blame Anna equally if not more. They've spent their lives saying men are sex crazed maniacs who can't control themselves if they see a knee or a shoulder and need sex on demand. I'm honestly surprised that they would do anything to Smugs. If they weren't in the public eye, I bet they wouldn't care.

The Duggars most recently recommended the book, His Needs, Her Needs on their Facebook page, which says women must be hot and available to prevent an affair... I think we know they have been blaming Anna. Look at the transformation in appearance. Anna is a much thinner, tanned, curly haired, smokey eyed version of herself. It's sad but I wouldn't be surprised if Jim Bob & Michelle forced Anna to watch Josh's favorite porn to learn how to "please" him...

This article talks about some quotes from the book they recommended in a post on FB. It's disgusting... http://www.inquisitr.com/2948906/inside-the-book-jim-bob-and-michelle-duggar-says-held-their-marriage-together/

But when the molestations started, the Duggars were basically housebound, except for the odd trip to Aldis and Big Sandy. I would be surprised if they even had a computer back then. Unless JB was sneaking porn magazines into the house, Josh wouldn't have had access to porn at this point in time. But I'm sure the Duggars would claim that porn was still responsible because it was/is still an existential threat, much like gay marriage. The alternative would involve realizing that all the "purity" rhetoric, burka frumpers, and ATI "character" brainwashing didn't protect the J'girls and maybe even contributed to it, and we can't have that.
