It's evil technology's fault. To be 28 years old and he probably is going to live at home/on the property for the rest of his life, not being allowed a phone or internet probably because of this because he is too much of a weenie to say "eff you" and break away.

I'm guessing they sent him to Jesus jail (again) because a real treatment place might get him thinking critically about his upbringing. Still, what a waste of time and money to go away for 6+ months and accomplish nothing.

And it's likely that a real treatment place wouldn't take him anyway. I don't think he probably has an addiction problem, I think he's just a selfish asshole. The treatment for that is to stop being a selfish asshole (and perhaps get some legit therapy on an outpatient basis, without abandoning your family), not run away and hide for 6+ months.

It astounds me that the punishment for screwing around on your wife is greater than the punishment for molesting five children. What is more unnerving is that the Duggars have no understanding as to why the outside world finds this nauseating.

I think they don't get this because they don't live in the normal world where there are consequences. They lost their show but improbably got it back. Yes, Josh lost his job but they probably think the job's atmosphere was not Godly enough. They only spend their time with fundies who would cover up molestation as well. They don't have to deal with how the outside world reacts. They don't have to worry about people who would not allow their kids to come over because a child molester is there. They don't have to deal with the consequences of keeping your children uneducated because no one is expected to go to college, get a job in the outside world or live an independent life.  In many ways, there have been few negative consequences so I kind of get why they think they are doing everything right.

I thought the birthday greetings were well worded, heartfelt, and probably vetted by a media specialist. I did not read too much into the reference of the events of the past year....because it WAS this past year that the family was confronted with the fact that the treatment of the young Josh didn't 'take', so to speak. And although that might have been predictable to us....it certainly wasn't to them...and was therefore, truly heartbreaking, in their eyes. And though adultery is definitely not on par with molestation, it can rip families apart, too.

I'm not sure a message purportedly to your son can be both heartfelt and vetted by a media specialist.

Well, you know, they prayed about it.

I think Jana looks so pretty in that picture of Anna's supposed baby bump.

Good point. I think I have been watching too much election coverage.....my ability to distinguish between genuine and scripted emotion is being compromised. ;-)

Not only do I have to share my birthday with Joshy boy, but I caught the flu.  I'm not sure how, but I think it's his fault.

I think the only reason he is in jesus jail for the adultery and away for so long  is because the brand has been compromised and nearly killed- they obviously didn't care about the molestation's  enough to send him away for so long

it's pathetic and sick on their part

he needed it then pure and simple - makes me sick

Poor Joshly probably assumed he would have to be caught cheating at least 4 or 5 more times before he would have any consequences beyond a strict talking-to.

Even if Joshley is a scummy p.o.s. he is still their son! I am surprised they haven't even done just like a quick "were praying for you while you spend your birthday in prayhab (TM)" FB status. So much for christian forgiveness

He may not be in prayhab any longer.  They may be able to wish him happy bday In person.

He just got a birthday acknowledgement via Facebook:

Today is our son Josh’s birthday. The heartache of the past year cannot surpass the joy 28 years ago on this day when we first became parents! We love you Josh and believe your best days can be ahead of you. We continue to pray for you every day.

Nice and neutral.  Doesn't say where Josh is or what he is doing.  But they acknowledged the bday with dignity.

Dang! I spoke too soon. Oh well, as @EmCatlyn just mentioned... nice & middle of the road.

The coming home wait continues.

If they loved him the way they claimed, aka unconditionally as his parents, they would have gotten him real help the very fist time he molested someone. If they loved their daughters, they would have made sure that Josh got real help and later never got the chance to hurt them.

I agree. I wouldn't rule out that some places would take him anyway because of $$$, but a respectable place would just give him some addresses of good therapists in his area and would advise him to go talking to one of them. I mean, Josh, along with the rest of his family, clearly needs professional help, but going to a (drug) addict rehab for months is probably not the solution.

THIS. They didn't give a shit about their own daughters getting sexually abused by their brother. They probably wouldn't have given a shit about the pain Josh put Anna through with all of his lies and (if the Danica allegations are true, which I'm sure they are, at least in part) sexual aggression if he hadn't gotten caught. Josh is a sociopath and his parents just fed into it by never giving him consequences or teaching him any morals besides "don't get caught".

This. Six months is a long time. He could have received real help from a real therapist and maybe start to realize why he acts the way he does. Now he has probably accomplished nothing and is sent back home with an empty toolbox to attack problems that will resurface sooner or later. And the cycle will go on and on and on...

I give it three years before another scandal surfaces. Probably another lawsuit (against Josh or Jim Boob) or a reveal about shady finances.

I know RU isn't a mainstream or typical treatment facility by any means, but WTF?   I could understand being in lockdown for a chemical dependence and addiction, but this just seems super crazy.  He must have been playing with porn 24/7 prior to "treatment".  I'm not trying to minimize porn addiction, but I would think that learning to cope while leading a life as a father, husband, etc would be a huge part of the process.  I wonder if there will be any ongoing maintenance after he's released?

As far as the happy birthday posts, it reads with a disdain that seems pretty uncommon for these people.  Usually they gloss-over any negatives or pretend they didn't or are not happening.

It's got to the point now that whenever he does come out, it's going to be a BIG deal. He could've gone for a month and then sought some outpatient therapy and it would all have been done with (press-wise) by now, he'd be back in Arkansas working at the car lot or wherever probably back with Anna and the kids (hopefully having marital counselling). He'd have picked his life up by now in whatever form it's now going to lead, he still has to do that.

By sending him to Camp Jeebus for so long, it's just turned into them ostracizing him whilst waiting for the show to get a reboot. It's not actually about him being rehabilitated in any way, it's just a damn punishment with a big dollop of brainwashing for good measure.

I don't like him, I don't like what he's done, but I don't believe for one moment that he needed in patient therapy for cheating on his wife. They needed to work through that together (either trial separation, divorce or counselling if that's what they both want) whilst he found work and supported her with the kids. He undoubtedly needs therapy for a whole host of things, but I wholeheartedly believe he could've done that without it being residential.

So this article refers to "Pregnant Anna Duggar" and her baby bump. I'm honestly not seeing it.

http://www.examiner.com/article/pregnant-anna-duggar-has-baby-bump-photo-duggars-promote-jill-and-jessa

Anna doesn't look pregnant to me. She's had 4 kids in like 5ish years I'm sure she has some "baby weight" left and if I was in her position I would be stress eating. Weight gain doesn't = pregnancy. These tabloids are ridiculous. I feel bad for Anna and the kids. I wish she would grow a pair and walk away. But, the TLC money train has come back so she is back where she started.

She doesn't look pregnant to me. Jennifer Aniston is supposed to be pregnant w/twins but I saw her pic recently, *Oscars?* & she didn't look pregnant w/anything.
