ABC plans to air a remake of "Dirty Dancing" I wonder fi they will include the abortion story. It will hard to see anyone other than Swayze as Johnnie Castle.

Ugh.

Everything old does not need to be new again...

But, can a new twist be put on it? (I doubt it.)

Like a lot of movies, Dirty Dancing inspired a short-lived TV show:

Since the movie was based on a summer romance, I'm not sure how this could have worked as a long-term series. It was canceled after 11 episodes, so I guess the point was moot.

While I'm not interested in this remake (the movie didn't interest me), I'll be curious to see if the abortion story is mentioned as well. Although the original movie is rerun all the time without anyone complaining, I can see the conservative outrage machine going into overdrive over portraying the procural of an illegal abortion as a good thing.

For some reason I can't click the link.

Is it still set in the 60s, or are they modernizing it?

Hummm The link works fine on this end.
I hope they keep the setting in the 60s but a modern twist would be interesting.
And why would most conservatives even have an interest in it?

Because they would seize upon it as an example of the mainstream media making abortion and pre-marital sex seem like no big deal. "Culture of death" and all that jazz.
