Just a bunch of straight white dudes getting really excited about women's wombs

Omg. :my_biggrin:

That is one really weird picture. Is it a bunch of men dancing to celebrate being anti-choice?

I can't take any of these folks slightly serious until their platform is supporting steps that actually lower abortion rates. Holding up signs and wearing t-shirts does shit in lowering abortion rates. This is just glorified slactivism.

And these fools actually  believe it does. I can hold up signs and wear tshirts  that bans maturation and viagra. But what will that do? Nothing.

I thought Harry Potter books were verboten, anyway.  Arent they all 'magical' and devil worshiping?

Same here, I thought they weren't allowing their children to read those "evil" books.

My guess the woman in the pic could be a Christian who isn't hardcore and possibly liberal on many things except abortion. I know several people like that. One of my closest friends is an adoptee and she is against abortion. She ran a Facebook group called "Adoptees Against Abortion" for a couple of years and she is a member of Democrats for Life. She reads Harry Potter, watched True Blood, and a bunch of other things hardcore fundies would hate.

The meteorological models for the coming blizzard have gotten really serious in the last couple of hours, and a number of Catholic Dioceses are canceling their buses to the March.  The Mayor of DC has declared a State of Emergency already.

It will be delusional for the March organizers not to cancel.

If you look at the March for antichoicer comments they said Jesus wants them to do this. Some antichoicers  actually  have sense and canceled but others are so passionate  about a fetus that they'll do anything to march for them. Even risk their lies because  apparently  the fetus will be thankful.

We could also check and see if fundie bloggers are attending March for Life events in their cities. Brianna Heldt, the Catholic blogger in Denver has gone to Denver masses and rallies towing around her kids.

Using a fictional character's mother as an example is dumb. I bet someone will probably use Sarah Connor as an example too.

And Olivia Benson. If Olivia's mother aborted then she wouldn't  be here to help victims of sex crimes. Ugh.

I used to watch SVU quite a bit years ago. I hated the overuse of Olivia's backstory on various episodes. I stopped watching the show for other reasons.

ah yes, Olivia Benson, the feminist woman who adopted a child instead of popping out eleventy kids then screaming about adoption instead of abortion.

I'm glad that "that_catholic_guy" thinks us silly wimmenz have a right to our ridiculous opinions.

I did get pregnant from a rape and have to say I have mixed feelings about this. I am totally pro-choice and believe a woman should be able to have a safe, legal abortion for no other reason than that she wants to. My mixed feelings certainly aren't on the side of the poster, or any anti-choicer.
But this is kind of a message to the crowd that believes women should be denied the choice to abort EXCEPT in cases of rape. If the abortion-is-murder crowd eally believed their own crap, then yes, consent during conception shouldn't be an issue. But no, "innocent" women get an exemption, while evil women who have sex on purpose should "suffer the consequences" (great way to think about a baby, no?"

That's one reason I believe that anti-choice is not about "saving babies," it's about controlling women and women's sex lives. That and keeping up a supply of babies to fuel the adoption industry.

Man, I hope I made myself clear.

American Airlines has cancelled a ton of flights in/out of the DCA area. I would imagine that UA and DL will do the same.

That means that a good many flying in will be stuck at their point of origin. See, God does have a sense of humor.

Walking home from Capitol Hill this evening, I passed a couple of satellite trucks on the National Mallthat have already been set up for the March. I guess there will be a small gathering of locals, who will feel extraspecialsanctified  and smug because they braved the elements for the fetuses.

Meanwhile back here in Iowa Carly Fiorina hijacked a pre-school field trip to push her reich to life horseshit;

theguardian.com/us-news/2016/jan/21/carly-fiorina-accused-of-ambushing-children-for-anti-abortion-rally

Quote

Carly Fiorina has been accused of “ambushing” a group of children, after she ushered pre-schoolers, who were on a field trip to a botanical garden, into an anti-abortion rally in Des Moines.

On Wednesday, the former Hewlett-Packard chief executive embarked on a day of campaigning across Iowa, in an attempt to boost her ailing presidential campaign.

The alleged ambush occurred when Fiorina hosted a “right to life” forum at the Greater Des Moines botanical garden. Entering the rally, before a crowd of about 60 people, she directed around 15 young children towards a makeshift stage.

The problem, one parent said, was that the children’s parents had not given Fiorina permission to have their children sit with her – in front of a huge banner bearing the image of an unborn foetus – while she talked about harvesting organs from aborted babies.

Now pardon my French but that makes me fucking sick.

There are 3 charter buses from Illinois parked across from my building here in downtown DC. It will be interesting to see when they depart--the snow will begin between noon & 3 pm.  I would hate for my building lobby turned into a weekend shelter for a hundred smug anti-choice teens.

If everything shuts down tomorrow in DC, who will see them protest?

Jesus.  Jesus sees all.  :pb_razz:

This will be them when it's all over. Maybe they'll be rooted in place until the thaw...

The time to have left here on a plane was last night or on the first flight(s) out this morning (meaning the planes were already here on the ground).  There will be nothing leaving here much past noon.  And if we get anything like what's been predicted, all three of our major airports (DCA, IAD, BWI) will be closed for a period of time.

@quiversR4hunting Thanks! If I'd gone to the office today, I could've snapped some pictures, but I decided the more prudent course of action was to work from home where I have unlimited supplies of tea and no traffic jams :)

I am also working from home. But going out to lunch soon so we can support a local restaurant before they close down for the weekend

I cannot emphasize how foolish these people are. NWS is saying there will be 3ft along the blue ridge parkway and some models are spitting out numbers that are downright terrifying.

Everyone else in the DMV area please stay safe!

From March for life Facebook

We are very concerned for people’s safety and want everyone to be cautious. However, the pro-life community is also concerned for the safety and well-being of the innocent, unborn in the womb. This movement to end abortion in this country is bigger than us and it is bigger than a weather event. This is a cause that is worth our best effort.

So basically  fuck you if you're  not coming due to the weather. You're not caring about the fetuses. Also if you die you died for a reason. You died for a fetus.

We're getting ice storms in NC, so I am staying home.  I would be happy if it weren't for the fact that tech for the high school Shakespeare play I am directing got cancelled tomorrow and our show is next weekend.
