It's rather cool, but there seems to be a lot of this type of art and expression lately (specifically eastern europe) and I often wonder what the true intentions really are.

Surely to "raise awareness", it would be far better, and more powerful to have actual women from these areas participate in such a project? I find it strange that someone who proclaims they "know pretty much about racism and similar issues", wouldn't have known full well that there would have been a swift and severe backlash against such a project.

If the point is to raise awareness of certain issues, then she's doing a good job since people are talking.  Women actually from those regions wouldn't get press.

They're talking about her rather than about the marginalization of the women she claims to be representing, though, so I don't really see that as a win.

Seems more like she's trying to raise awareness of herself.  She could have tried raising awareness without using her own face at all!

A lot of Eastern Europeans don't claim to have white privilege because they weren't the ones colonizing and being imperialists (in many cases, they were victims of imperialism, see Nazi Germany and the USSR). Still, this doesn't mean Eastern Europeans don't have white privilege: we do, we just weren't as heavily involved as France or England.

Anyways, Eastern Europe does have its issues with racism. Antiziganism is pretty rampant in Hungary, along with xenophobia, antisemitism, and Islamophobia. And the ignorance of anti-blackness as shown by Boglarka here.
