While I'd love to see an honest tell all book from any of them, the income would only support her for a limited time. It might be enough to hire a nanny and go back to school for a paying career.

I don't think it would reach Harry Potter heights.

It would be enough for her to live modestly until she got on her feet. She could probably still get plenty of speaking engagements, although obviously for different causes, some kind of women's empowerment type things. If she hired a good financial advisor and did a book tour and all, maybe cousin Amy's thirsty self could come along to watch the kids, she could be set up for a while

"Janet and I want to affirm our support for the Duggar family. Josh’s actions when he was an underage teen are as he described them himself, 'inexcusable,' but that doesn’t mean 'unforgivable.' He and his family dealt with it and were honest and open about it with the victims and the authorities. No purpose whatsoever is served by those who are now trying to discredit Josh or his family by sensationalizing the story. Good people make mistakes and do regrettable and even disgusting things. The reason that the law protects disclosure of many actions on the part of a minor is that the society has traditionally understood something that today’s blood-thirsty media does not understand—that being a minor means that one's judgement is not mature. No one needs to defend Josh’s actions as a teenager, but the fact that he confessed his sins to those he harmed, sought help, and has gone forward to live a responsible and circumspect life as an adult is testament to his family’s authenticity and humility. Those who have enjoyed revealing this long ago sins in order to discredit the Duggar family have actually revealed their own insensitive bloodthirst, for there was no consideration of the fact that the victims wanted this to be left in the past and ultimately a judge had the information on file destroyed—not to protect Josh, but the innocent victims. Janet and I love Jim Bob and Michelle and their entire family. They are no more perfect a family than any family, but their Christian witness is not marred in our eyes because following Christ is not a declaration of our perfection, but of HIS perfection. It is precisely because we are all sinners that we need His grace and His forgiveness. We have been blessed to receive God’s love and we would do no less than to extend our love and support for our friends. In fact, it is such times as this, when real friends show up and stand up. Today, Janet and I want to show up and stand up for our friends. Let others run from them. We will run to them with our support"

Tsk tsk Sir Hucksalot, you are a liar! You know dam well you were all on the love wagon when it was the past issues but NOW with porn stars in the mix you are trying to change gears. Hush now, your full of shit AND you don't stand a snowballs chance in hell at the nomination let alone the election.

Now sit your hateful ass down at the kiddie table and play nice with Christie while the big (jerks) have adult time at the debates...

The problem with all the ways that we envision Anna leaving Josh and "saving herself and the kids," is that they don't fit with her personality or what she would be comfortable doing.

She wouldn't want to write a tell-all book and she might hate having to go on a book tour.  She doesn't have the education or the ability to think critically about her situation.  We might as well imagine that she could make a living as an Uber driver.  :56247957a2c7b_32(17):

Anna's best hope is that Josh will leave her. If she avoids falling apart about this, it might get her to rethink her life.  If she concluded that it would be better for her children to be raised outside of the Duggars' sphere of influence and if she could question the "wisdom" of the Wisdom Booklets, and go Fundie Lite, it would be a great positive thing.

(She might write a book but it would not be a tell all.  It would be inspirational about how Jesus has been with her through all her bad times and she still prays for Josh.  So it won't be a big money maker.)

Doesn't anyone feel sorry for the hypothetical pregnant hooker? I do. I can't imagine having a child who carried Smuggar's genes. Being forever linked to him. Please, God, no extra-marital pregnancies. (And no more in the marriage, either, please.)

I'd feel bad for the hypothetical pregnant hooker, because the Duggar's pro life compassion would shine thru (in a far from compassionate manner).

supporting Jim bob and Michelle in some ways is worse, they were the adults  and failed both Josh, who given proper support and punishment  may have stood a chance of reforming and their daughters, who got no counselling  and were made to stay in the same house as their abuser. I hope all the girls, including  Jana now get some real counselling but I doubt they will

Yes, that! I was just going to post that I consider it to be significantly worse if he actually was intending to defend/support Boob and J'chelle. They were the adults in the situation and completely failed to get their son the help he needed or to protect their daughters (and at least one family friend's daughter) from the predatory behavior of their son.

I doubt Fuckabee is telling the truth about not defending Smuggar, but if he is, then he looks even worse from my vantage point than he did previously. And that's saying a lot.

In a word (think the French Revolution scene in History of the World: Part 1):  BULLSHIT

Just watched the video. He didn't let the woman speak, said she didn't know what she was talking about because she didn't know the family. Apparently, the police report was not valid in his eyes. He blamed the media. Insisted on getting his point across, but wouldn't let her get hers across.

LYING BULLY!!! It really made me angry. I hope his support of the molestation chokes him. :angry-cussingblack:

Haha, well he'll get annihilated by Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio in the polls. At least Ted Cruz kept his trap shut about this.

I've always been more angry at the Duggar parents than Josh. When they discovered their son's actions they should have immediately sent him to an actual psychologist and separated him from his sisters. Telling the authorities should have been the first, painful  step in handling the situation. If Josh had been charged and gotten help, they wouldn't have their tv deal but maybe the family would have ended up more healthy.

What an asshole.

He could have handled that so much better, but instead he goes completely overboard defending parents who enabled their son to molest their little girls despite knowing his history.  And then proceeded to cover it up and shortly thereafter get a reality show, exposing their family to the national media spotlight.  But the Duggars are the real victims - how dare that very same national media report about them!

All kinds of messed up, without even touching the insane abortion comment.

As an aside, I think I had more people to dinner last Sunday than were in that room.  I think it's safe to say Fuck A Bee isn't going anywhere.

Ted Cruz and Josh used to play basketball together at Ted Cruz's house. Don't ask me how I know this.

I won't ask how you know this, but I will ask why it should matter.  A man my ex and I were friends with is in prison for embezzlement.  I do not condone what he did even though he was doing it during the period that we were socializing.   (We had no idea, of course.)

Cruz and other Republicans appear in pictures and probably socialized with Josh when the latter was engaged in politics.  I don't assume they knew any more than we did about his past history.

The thing about Huckabee is that he is defending the Duggars and talking about how good they are, etc.. I don't think any of the other candidates have done this.

Gawker's description of that video is accurate - he did lose his shit. I wish someone with more knowledge of the Duggars/fundies was the one questioning him though, I'd love to see him go into a debate with a FJ'er. It's funny how he kept saying "you don't know them." You mean that Godly presence on their TV show is false? I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what happened from that official police report.

I mean, I feel like you don't have to know the Duggars personally to judge what they did under these circumstances.

But hold on, didn't Huckabee say the Obamas were bad parents for letting their kids listen to Beyoncé? But, Mr Huckabee, YOU DON'T KNOW THEM.

I see how it is, aiding and abetting child molestation is okay, but Beyoncé? Inexcusable.

My first thought was, which one of us was that? Hard to say who was right and wrong here, but his stance on child abuse didn't need to go into the Duggar lives. But either way, Huckabee is screwed. If this lady has been molested, he should ask her where she has reached out for help, or if this is the first time she has. And no one in the audience can direct her to a proper counsellor? My head spins.:my_huh:

I read the Lily and Ellie take on the incident. They thought Huck was great (of course) and that he got his point across even though the woman kept interrupting him.

Hmm, my take was that he interrupted her, and didn't listen to what she was saying. To me, he came across as very defensive.

Which goes to show that we can see the same thing and interpret it differently. I'll stand by my first assessment.

I also thought he lost his shit and was very defensive. Every time the woman tried to speak he told her to "wait a minute I am not done". The video really peeved me off. His stance of , "You don't know them. They are a Godly family." was ridiculous and made him like an ass. He got very loud, very quickly which as a politician you really need to have a little more self control than that. But, I also believe one of his statements was, "They have 19 children and if only one turned out bad that is pretty good."  Which made me go WTH? I understand children do things that parents never dream of them doing but the Duggars lied over and over again and got no professional help for either Josh or the victims. They were still standing by his side until they found out he liked porn. I can not grasp that it is ok to molest your sisters but porn gets you sent away to Jesus jail. This entire disgusting problem lies right at the feet of Jim Bob and Michelle for not helping their children when they needed them most.

I want a Ryan Murphy tells the OJ Simpson story-style Duggar  mini series, complete with beaten up porn stars and pregnant hookers.  If I have to wait 20 years, I'm down with that.

PS I cannot WAIT for American Crime Story because it's going to have mini Kardashians and Selma Blair as Kris Jenner!!!!  It will be the best hate watching EVAR.

Awww, Huckabee is such a delicate little snowflake when it comes to his Duggar friends;

Quote

Mike Huckabee got into a tense exchange with a woman in Clinton, Iowa, who questioned his support of the Duggar family, stars of the reality TV show "19 Kids and Counting," even after it was revealed that son Josh Duggar had sexually molested five young girls, including two of his sisters.

"When the Duggars came out and the son had molested their child you more or less said that you felt sorry for their parents," the woman, who was not named, said in a video posted online by American Bridge 21st Century, a progressive Super PAC. "Their parents let it continue for over two years."

"You’re accusing me of supporting child abuse," the Republican presidential candidate shot back. "I’m gonna take you on on that because that hurts my feelings."

Awww. Poor Fuckabee. I'm sure his feelings are hurt so much worse than those of the victims whose pain he dismissed.

Fuck you Fuckabee, you're a fuckwad.
