I've been pretty forgiving of Amy, but wow she did not come off well at all in her blog. Living up to the FAMY nickname.

i did laugh at her little dig at her cousins saying she was glad there were no cameras around for her proposal and that some things should remain intimate...and right next to that she posted a picture of the proposal. So, obviously, there were cameras around (just not tlc), they weren't alone, and then she proceeded to share that 'intimate' moment with the world. :my_rolleyes:

A year or two either way makes no difference. She would have been young (15-19) when Josh's molestation was taking place and so would not have participated in the family gossip. Her mother would have had to tell her for her to know, and I can see Deanna not telling Amy so as not to prejudice her friendship with her boy cousins--or to protect the girl cousins.   She may not have worried that Amy might be at risk because the story she heard was almost certainly the "lite" version ( light touching over clothes while girls were sleeping).  In some interview, Amy said that she had been vaguely aware that he had been sent a way, but not why.

In the interest of accuracy, I want to remind everyone that the documented molestations happened between March 2002 and March 2003. Josh turned 14 in March of 2002, and consequently he was barely 15 in March of 2003 when he went off to construction camp.

That would make Amy between 12 and 16 during the molestations. I do believe she's older rather than younger, but I'm not 100% sure.

I've been meaning to mention this in the Joshley thread (except that I'm never caught up on it), because I don't really see the point in discussing how relevant the age cutoff of 16 for a pedophilia diagnosis is for a fifteen year old, when the reality is that he was a fourteen year old for virtually the entire time period covered in the police report.

I'm not calling you out, EmCatlyn, I just happened to read your post and decided to use it as a jumping off point.

Was this the link you meant to post?  The article is talking about the pornography infidelity scandal (Joshgate 2) not the molestation scandal ( Joshgate 1).

I seem to remember that in an earlier interview Amy said that she heard about the molestation scandal along with everyone else.  I don't doubt the truth of this because she would have been young when it all happened so her mom would not have told her and I doubt the Duggar girls told her about it.

Yes. I guess it's just a weirdly written article, and I can't bring myself to read her original blog post. ;)

I was referring to this quote from the article:  "Life was just wonderful … drum roll please …." Amy wrote. "Until one of my family members made some terrible confessions. I knew nothing of the molestation charges."

Snarl . . . YOU DO NOT NEED TO MUTILATE KITTENS. Bet she gets scratched by forcing the poor puss into selfies.

I'm calling bullshit on Amy not knowing about either scandal. I'll go a step further and say that I think Amy and her parents are the ones leaking info to the tabloids and gossip sites.

Good point about Josh's age at the time of the molestations.  For my part, I think the "cut off age for pedophilia" discussion has reached the Stage of Too Much Repetition.

As for Amy, A quick google didn't give me her birthdate, but whether she was 13 when Josh was 14 or 16 when Josh was 15, it wouldn't surprise me that she didn't hear about the molestations around the time they happened.

And yes, I can see my post was just a jumping point.  No fear.

I've been wondering if it was time to offer up my shovel to dig the grave for that poor long dead horsie.

I think it was pretty crappy of her dad to tell Amy in a text message. News that serious needs to be said face to face (if possible).

I wish my parents would've told me about their divorce via text message. Sitting down as a family and talking about it was awful.

I love Amy complaining about Mondays on her twitter feed.

Since she appears to be a stay-at-home, childless, wife, not attending school, and barely trying to make it in the music business--WTF does she have against Mondays????

Yeah, she wrote about how her Wedding Day was the best day of the year but then proceeded to spend the majority of her recap of her wedding day talking about how she made sure to give Anna Duggar (she had to use her full name) a big hug and make her feel special. Also she had "becoming close with Anna Duggar" as one of her top 5 things she was thankful for in 2015. She of course also dragged Josh through the mud, which he obviously deserves, but that juxtaposed with constant talking about how much she's there for Anna is pure FAMY. Oh, and did I mention that she knows Anna Duggar?

:smiley-signs131:. I just realized that josh and I share a birthday. Different year. Don't know why I'm getting caps where they don't belong. Fixed the caps but still can't backspace. Sigh.

Amy never was really a "duggar" in my opinion anyways so who cares about her. *shrug* She always came off as trying to be a part of her weirdo cousin's reality show. Like oh hey y'all got cameras? I'm part of this family too! It's cousin Amy just dropping by!

Same here. I hope your experience was more civil, my parents tried and my mom ended up slapping my dad that day....And that day at 13, I became a sister-mom.

Nobody hit anyone but there was yelling, and crying, then yelling at me because I wasn't "reacting properly." All because I wasn't shocked that my parents were getting a divorce. Excuse me, their fighting caused me enough anxiety as a child so when they were finally like "we're getting a divorce" my first reaction was "why did you wait so long? You hate each other." Not that I said that aloud, but it's all I could think about.

My father decided to tell us kids while my mother was out doing the groceries. He sat us down in the kitchen and just stated it very bluntly. I was 8 and my brothers 3 and 4.  I remember thinking this kind of thing only happened to people in movies.  I freaked and ran out of the house to the old lady next door and cried my eyes out.  My mother was furious.  This was 1970 so divorce wasn't that common in my little world.

So Famy Duggs and the King consort have added 'gambling' (buying Powerball tickets) to their repertoire of what-the-Jim-Bobs-don't-do? Instagram says yay.

"Take a chance" is a slippery slope, Famy.Powerball tickets are gateway gambles.

(I hope Famy is paying royalties to FJer halcionne for the appropriation of halcionne's eyeball avatar!)

I sense sarcasm, but nothing wrong with any of that. Mommies arent the only ones entitled to stay home-smiles. I hope Amy enjoys herself anyway she sees fit with/without blessings. I had to use quote marks becasue the quote thing wouldnt work.

In some ways I want to call bull on her not knowing, but I dont know/ never knew all the goings on with my first cousins-unless one was pregnant/getting married, and you still may not know EVERYTHING. My eldest first cousin has a daughter plus a 24 yr old(after she divorced) and to this day I dont know who his father is, they know, and who cares. Heck I dont know many things my own brother did. The incidents happened before the first special and it would depend on how close she was to them at the time..
