It's like Whack-A-Mole! Mark Driscoll is back!

Driscoll also noted that he was “healin’ up” in his new home. And his bio on the site refers to the Driscolls recently facing “the most challenging year of their lives,” one that prompted the pastor to take a year off.

Yes, let's never forget that it's all about you, Mark. Nothing at all to do with the "snowballing allegations of plagiarism, emotional abusiveness and misogyny" you left behind in the Pacific Northwest.

Now that Marky has moved to AZ to start a church does not mean that we can ship PP to Washington? Please we don't need another wackadoddle!!!

Local NPR station did a segment on Markly today-interviewed a reporter from Seattle and someone who attended Mars Hill boy did that open my eyes. He is pond scrum. He should reach out to PP they would like each other. These places are scary.

I would love to see a Steve Anderson/Mark Driscoll showdown.

I don't think that they would. PP is stunchly kjv only and anti-Calvinist.

What station/program? I would love to listen to this.

Well, shit.  I guess I have to volunteer as tribute to check this place out once it opens, huh? I could probably blend in more so than with PP's crowd.

I have a very hip/successful friend in PHX (she's like 27 and already owns a home lol—what am I doing with my life) but I hope to convince her to visit and tell me what it's like. She used to be a fan of Driscoll, one of those hip New Reformed people, but not a fan anymore haha.

I've decided I'll be standing on the sidewalk in front of Driscoll's new temple of the money changers when it opens. I'll be the one with the sign that says NOPE.

There's so much wrong with Driscoll and it goes way WAY beyond any doctrinal issues. The guy is a plagiarist, he used church money to get a book on the New York Times bestseller list, he regularly threw people under the bus and made no bones about it, he told married women that they needed to give it up whenever and wherever their husbands wanted, etc., etc. He's an unrepentant pig and I don't want him in the Valley of the Sun.

I think PP's ego couldn't handle having Mark build a successful church so close by. I predict lots of competitive soul winning. Mark better start bribing people with organic free range super speshul ice cream.

The Seattle Sun Times has a short blurb about the opening of the new church in Phoenix, showing a picture of Mark Driscoll wearing....a charcoal gray suit and crisp white shirt!  Guessing the Calvinist hipster days are in the rear view mirror.   Suits are the new flannel?

I might be reading waaaaay to much into this, but is it a coincidence that Marky Mark has chosen to rise from the ashes of Mars Hill in a place called Phoenix?

Now that you point this out, yes, this does seem rather symbolic.

This Just In!  The resurrection of Mark Driscoll! (note that this is from a Seattle paper)

Mark Driscoll will resurrect his ministry with Easter Sunday "gathering" in Arizona

Quote

Ex-Mars Hill Church senior pastor Mark Driscoll, relocated in Arizona, will launch the first "gathering" of his new Trinity Church on Easter Sunday at the Glass and Garden Drive-In Church in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The newly launched Driscoll congregation has signed a rental contract for the 50-year-old church, which opened on Easter Sunday in 1966.  The official launch of the church has not yet been announced.

Wonder where THAT money came from? Real estate in Scottsdale can't be cheap.

Pretty sure the resurrection will be televised for the enjoyment of Mark Driscoll leg humpers everywhere.

I think it's very telling that when you click "Pray" on the Support links the first thing on the page suggests you should give money.

I don't know much of anything beyond the basics regarding their belief systems (and by basics, I mean 'stone teh gays' and 'evolution is not the solution' and 'end times' and the like). Are they at all theologically compatible? I could maybe, perhaps, sorta see PP joining in with MD in a joint soul winning merger if it makes PP look bigger, better, stronger than he does now. Despite it all, he strikes me as a fairly opportunistic lad.

Driscoll and PP are not compatible theologically. IFBs practice separation...that is, they do not normally associate with anyone outside the IFB. Driscoll does not practice separation. There are already quite a few "megachurches" in Maricopa county, with membership in the thousands. Central Christian has multiple campuses in Gilbert, Mesa, Awatukee, and I think Glendale (that's the church we were a part of when we lived in Gilbert).

Snottsdale real estate does not come cheap. For all it's hype, Snottdale is rather insular. I don't think Driscoll is going to be terribly successful building a megachurch there.

The Eastern European countries and Asian countries have their share of weird religion. (There's a largish cult in France too...something to do with Sun worship? Anyone? Founder says he's god?)  No one bothers to report on the crazy or translate it.

Thanks for the info! So much for my attempt at fundie hate church match making.

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

      Happy International Women's Day!

Humanity may have some work to do, to improve gender equality, but I was glad to hear that France has taken an important step to protect healthcare for women (and people of other genders who can get pregnant).

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

Well, the rash is back with a vengeance. It never completely cleared up. I saw the derm yesterday and they did another swab and yup, raging infection again, still? It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.

It’s not supposed to be mosquito season right now but I still appear to have been bitten twice on the side of my foot. Bastards. I know I shouldn’t scratch but it’s so tempting… 😑
