Maybe this is off topic, but speaking of former Misses America, I've been looking at Teresa Scanlan's instagram. She's the homeschooled pageant winner who's now a senior at Patrick Henry College and a poster child for conservative sex appeal. Anyway, unless I've got my timeliness confused it appears that she is currently celebrating 12 weeks of marriage (to an older man with a sports car collection) and is 20 weeks pregnant. Is she still fundie? Isn't premarital sex against the rules at PHC?

Tebow's career at this point is Professional Virgin and Paragon of Christian Virtue (although I would not be surprised at all if there was some Joshiness going on). He seems...tiresome.

I always think that anyone who is very publicly "HAVE I MENTIONED I AM SEXUALLY PURE TODAY" all the time is compensating for something or hiding something.

If you don't want to have sex before you're married, cool. You and only you get to decide when and with whom you make the beast with two backs. If people shame you about it, they can go fuck themselves (because you certainly won't). But if you're constantly prattling on about how unsullied your no-no parts are and basing your entire public image/belief system around it, I'll be convinced that at best you're trying to make up for the weird smutty Power Rangers tentacle porn fan fiction you keep in a Word document on your hard drive, and at worst you've done something legitimately heinous.

Used to be. But now it's something you can be prideful about. Because it makes you a "better Christian" than everyone else.

Assuming the story is true and the "source" isn't a publicity plant, good for him for having a standard and sticking to it.  And good for her for realizing that she doesn't have an obligation to follow someone else's standards and leaving a relationship that wasn't right for her.

I have a soft spot for Tim Tebow.  I feel like his fans kind of ruined things for him.  He might have been able to have a good career as a back-up quarterback if his asshole fans hadn't followed him around and demanded that the coach play him, therefore making him a kind of media liability.

I personally find it squicky that this sort of thing is advertised.  I get TT's right to abstain until marriage, that is indeed his right as it is for anyone but.....to make it public is just so weird.

That's the thing I think is so weird about this, that he's made it public that he's abstaining from sex until marriage, when most keep that private. I also see why he pings gaydar for so many, since if he really wanted to, he could have gotten married while he was still in college and been a virgin at the time.

If I was a single woman waiting until marriage, unless I was someone like the Bateses or Duggars where virginity is flown on a banner, I'd be self-conscious of how everyone knows the state of my sex life if I were to date him, and, even if I was of the waiting-for-marriage persuasion, that sort of thing being known to the world would make be back away as fast as I could.  How many other women might have dated him, but shied away because they know they'd be the known-to-be-untouched girlfriends?

I think announcing to the world that you are breaking up with someone because you couldn't make them have sex with you is pretty bizarre.  But he's the one getting grief.

I've gotten the impression she is more fundie lite than fundie, and it still seems that way from some of her posts.  But yes, the sudden wedding to the 36 year old car dealer was surprising. Premarital sex is still against the rules at PHC and from what an alum told me, Scanlan's marriage - baby sequencing is something of a hot topic on campus these days.

Americans are so weirdly obsessed with what goes on (or doesn't, as the case may be) in other people's bedrooms. I know far more than I need to know about half of Hollywood's sex lives just from standing in the grocery checkout -- I don't even need to actively seek it out.

I'm only vaguely familiar with Tebow and even less familiar with his ex and have no idea if any of this is actually true -- but if you enjoy having sex with a romantic partner, you might not want to get involved with someone who has been open about his/her desire to wait until marriage. Respect other people's beliefs and choices, and expect others to do the same for you.

But remember this was an "anonymous source" telling her side of the story.  Again, assuming the story is true, maybe she did tell her friends or cousin about her frustrations.  Then the two broke up, and her buddy talked to the press about it.  So neither of them went public with it.  I don't think either party should be getting crap for it.  It's really some asshole friend who did something inappropriate.
