New Pearl article dissection

Mods, if this isn't allowed, feel free to delete, but I just finished another Pearl article write-up. Since we've been discussing them a lot lately I thought I'd share my essay on it. This is the "Sanctuary" article where Michael Pearl describes his home as a supermax prison, basically. Has anyone else seen this article?

Never allow them to listen to music through headphones
.

What? I've read the article before but this is the first time I noticed that sentence.

We didn’t allow our children to spend time in their bedrooms unless they were working on a project or reading. Bedroom doors were always kept open, except for two minutes while dressing.

I have always wondered if Michael Pearl was molested as a child. He seems obsessed with sex and the possibility that his children will be abused or think about sex.

That and the spanking rituals he promotes makes me think he's got serious psycho-sexual issues however they originated.

As far as I'm concerned, it's fine, LKB.

My personal preference is that part of the referenced post/article be briefly excerpted in the post here because I'm just much more likely to click on a link if I get a bit of a teaser first. But that could be due to my short attention span. :D

A probability bordering on certainty.

I love how Pearl likes to point out how successful his kids are.

They are uneducated, unemployed, living in huts with no running water. (slow sarcastic clap) I will not be taking advice from a man who cannot out of his large brood produce a single productive citizen.

He does indeed seem like a creepy, perverted, sex-obsessed spanking-fetish old man.

Ugghhh. . . he is so gross. That CNN interview with him and the lovely Debi sitting in the blade of that bulldozer. . . well, I just don't know how anyone in their right mind could take him seriously just based on his gross-ness alone.

And what was up with sitting on the bulldozer? Don't they have chairs at chez Pearl? Jeesh, could they have tried any harder to look like a bunch of ignorant country bumpkins?

I would have gone insane being raised in that family. I'm an introvert and need time to myself every day. Two minutes of closed door time, just to dress? Seriously. I would have gone crazy.

Planning on scheduling my ankle surgery around Trump's Georgia trial - if I'm forced to be off my feet, I might as well be entertained.

And yes, the Church actually has a blessing for beer.

      Stupid loneliness!
Kid 1 went back to college (yeah! But sad foe me, she stayed with me all summer. It was nice to start a new phase in our mother/daughter relationship)
Zero prospects on dates. (Not that I have tried online dating, scared of that but I have reached put to a new group at church, etc.
I asked a friend to go to dinner the other night so I wasn't eating alone, again. The friend had plans, all my friends always have plans. I see stuff on social media, I'm never invited. I'm single, I'm the 3rd or 5th wheel.
My one parent friend at kid 2's fall sport won't be there because their daughter made varsity (Yeah for her!!! Seriously happy for her. Sad for me for another sport I basically sit alone, did that majority of spring and summer sporting events.)
And now I'm crying as my mom told me 2 different funny stores that former teachers remembered about my twin. Both stories were about how they got a crack out of my twin's antics (my parents went to a funeral today and saw former colleagues). Teachers remember me (after all I was a twin and teachers' kid) but none would have memorable stories of me.
      I feel invisible.
Don't worry, this will pass,  it always does. I just need a pity party for a few days. I'm not in anyway going to harm myself. As lonely as I am, I have a very full life I (usually) love. I just needed to vent and cry for a moment.
If you are still reading this, thanks Fjer. 😊

Absolutely awful about the fires on Maui. In 2019, I stayed in Lahaina. I liked to sit on the sea wall, which is the only structure left now, and watch the water. People are receiving help, but many had to leave pets. Please donate to the Maui Humane Society, which is leading efforts to find, treat, and reunite pets.

Nebraska’s new football coach, who is involved in an organization called Man Up Ministries, labels certain players “Alphas” and sometimes “extreme Alphas” and the local paper has a nice piece on why people objecting to the term “alpha male” are wrong and it has a “nice ring”. 🤮🤮🤮🤮
