Jinger and Lawson courting?

I don't know anything about Lawson Bates but I think if there was a new courtship we would hear about it promptly on the Fuggar facebook. They must be desperate for some good news to be announced for a change. Unless the guy's parents or whichever network they are filming for put their foot down and told them to say nothing.

I heard Pitt is half vampire on his fathers side! Does that make him a werepire? Vampwolf?

He should go to 23 and me to find out! I'm not sure how how the DNA works for those kind of mixed ethnicities. :D

I dunno, I think that after Josiah's failed courtship the Duggars would want to keep everything on the downlow at first.

I still think JB announced that early because he thought there was potential to fail and it would shame Josiah, his obvious least favorite child. (pre Joshley, of course)

Plus would the Bates want to keep it on the DL? They have a TV show they need to get ratings for.

Lawson seems so smug. Jinger seems (on television anyway) like a sweet, reserved young woman. Lawson, via television and instagram, gives me douche vibes. I don't know that I could be excited about a courtship between them unless my perception of one or both is wrong.

1. Jinger and Lawson courtship rumors started in January. I found a few comments(I forgot where) from July that claim Jinger and Lawson are courting.

2. They could announce a courtship/engagement before the Bates new season, which starts in January(If there these rumors are true)

While I am firmly in the "not a couple" camp, I would say that a courtship would be prime rib for Gil and the lucky lad. Prince Charming coming in to sweep the "damaged" princess away from her evil parents and brother... The ultimate "I still love her no matter what" story.

I really hope this isn't the case. Yeah, Lawson may be pursuing a music career, which would mean travelling opportunities for Jinger, but she'd still be a Gothard wife. I fear that once it gets confirmed that she's courting, and she has permission to use social media, we will discover that she's just as smug and ignorant as Princess Jessa. A part of me still wants to hope that Jinger is planning her escape, and will bring Jana and/or Joy with her.

But she would be able to photograph him when he's on stage!! I dunno. I think that performer and photographer go hand in hand... (I say this because I once dated a guy in a band and I used to take pictures of the band when they had a gig)

I thought they announced it for the same reason Jessa and Ben were announced: because someone recognized them in public.

Edited. I just remembered Jessa wasn't in public, someone recognized her in a picture on fb. But the point still stands, the cat was out of the bag before they were ready to announce.

Most people would but the Duggars? Nah, they would throw JInger under any bus, he'll, JimBob would drive his own bus over her after Mechelle trips her. No, they would love to just scrunched up mechelles face and talk about this sweet and precious time where the kids are looking for gods plan for them. They would also be so glommed onto the Bates' current good fortune and making sure everyone know how long they have known the Bates and how they have just been waiting and praying for a marriage.

I don't really know much about the Bates family. So why wouldn't he be a good match for Jinger? (Based on what people have seen, anyway..?)

The only thing I can think of is that the older Duggar girls were once asked what kind of guy they wanted to marry. Jinger said, "City, please! City, please!" Immediately people on FJ decided that she MUST be longing to move to New York City. A little while later one of her sisters said something along the lines of, "She didn't mean, like, NYC, she just meant somewhere near a Walmart." It was then decided that Jinger was being tragically denied her NYC dream by her family. So I'm guessing if it's anyone not from a large, fashionable metropolis, it will be considered a bad match for Jinger.

Also, Jinger comes across as sensitive, insecure, and maybe even emotionally damaged (which I honestly kind of agree with), and apparently Lawson is arrogant? I don't know, because while I follow the Bateses, I don't watch their show, so I have no idea what his personality is really like.

Really, though, let's face it - everyone wants Jinger to escape the fundie life and marry (if she marries at all) someone who's not a fundie. Lawson is a fundie, so there you go.

Would a boy from another family be considered ok for a chaperone? After all, both guys might gang up on the girl and each hold her hand or something.

GASP! A threesome!?

Oh god, the idea of an interview where Jinger talks about being relieved to find someone who loves her anyway or that she was worried about people thinking she's damaged goods... VOMIT. While someone who has been violated like she presumably was has every right to feel however they do about their experience, I'm guessing she's probably been pretty heavily leaned on to feel specific ways about it all.

J'Chelle said that in an interview.

Said what? The thing about Walmart? I could have sworn it was Jill.

Yes, it was quoted in an article. It's been so long, I will need some time to find it. It was also on their website at the time as her quote.

If Lawson courts and marries Jinger, JB is back on tv, with all the Duggars (minus Joshley) in tow. A J&L wedding would be the main event of a Bringing UP! Bates season, right?

I think it would be awesome if Jinger and Lawson got married on a very special episode of the Bates show and Jim Boob and J'chelle were not shown or mentioned. They wouldn't know it was going to happen, they would just disappear during editing.

We wouldn't actually get to see Jim Boob's head explode, but we would know it's happening.

I just read the comments on the FB page and saw this gem "I am so glad to see Anna in this picture. She is my marital hero."

What does this even mean!?!?!? You admire/aspire to stay married to someone who molests his sisters and cheats on you with a porn star? You have some twisted notion that you could marry a "bad boy" and "fix" him with your submission?

The way it happened:

The girls were talking about their ideal guys

Jinger said something about preferring her future husband lived in a city. Jill quickly "recovered" for her by stating that she'd be content with whatever she got, and Jinger half heartedly agreed. People attacked Jill for it, but I've always seen that as Jill trying to protect Jinger; you can't have a family member not tow the party line in that house.

Michelle made a comment a month or few later about how Jinger didn't mean a city like NYC, she meant a place that was 15 minutes away from a Walmart.

Thank you! I remembered the Walmart comment, and I knew for sure that Jill was the naysayer (I remember people here specifically criticizing her for it) and I guess the two got equated in my mind. I also don't think Jill was trying to stifle Jinger, she's always been the one who talks the most in the interviews, and she's just parroting what they all believe, that you need to be content with what the Lord gives you. Jinger believes the same thing, and unless she can get away from fundamentalist Christianity, she will never be allowed to have her own wishes and desires, and we will never know if she really wanted to live in a huge city, a mid-sized city, a small town, or out in the country but still a 15 minute drive from a Walmart.

On a wedding episode, it would be impossible to not show the father of the bride. If nothing else, they'll show him walking her down the aisle.
