Regency dresses look good if correct undergarments are used - they are less corseted than say, a Victorian gown but they still need proper foundation garments. Modern bras just hadn't been invented yet.

I doubt Jennie Chancey and the other fundie Austen 'fans' really get the sheer snark and criticism of social mores Austen wrote about. Austen is not my favourite but her writing is pretty anti-fundie in many ways.
