Chelsea, the adopted daughter of Rosie O, according to People, has been waiting for the day she turned 18 to bolt. Just days before she turned 18, she ran away and was found at a 25 yr old heroin addicts home. Now the guy is charged with sending porn to a minor all for a few days before Chelsea turned 18 and she has decided to live with her birth mother. Rosie adopted Chelsea in 1997.

Maybe the young woman just wanted out of the spotlight or there was something more. Not breaaking link

I feel like there's so much more to this story.

I totally agree, but also think that the teen deserves her privacy. Whatever she and her family have been going through (and it has to have been a lot, since mental illness is a factor and she wound up with that nasty guy) has to have been intense. It's not like either mother (birth or adopted) is screaming to the media about what's going on. The police became involved after she went missing, and that's where most of the publicity came from (except for like, one tweet from Rosie). I feel for all of them. The teenage years are hard no matter what, and it seems like a lot of the friends I knew who'd been adopted dealt even more with feelings of rejection and abandonment -- not uncommon for a lot of teens, but it seemed that adopted friends had it a bit worse and tended to seek adventure/adrenaline/risky-situations moreso than others. Not always, obviously...but frequently.

Im not really a Rosie fan, but I hope she doesnt give her anymore money. I wish all kids could have a nice loving bio family, but it's not always possible. Biology means zilch. It's why we have foster care in the first place. Stories like this give adoption and foster care a bad name.

I read that Rosie is refusing to get her daughter her birth certificate and social security card. If that's true, I think it just makes the situation worse and pushes the daughter towards her birth mom.

i thought revised birth certificates were issued when an adoption was finalized? i'm unfamiliar with all the ins and outs of adoption, but i thought that was the case. anyone more knowledgeable care to weigh in, please?

We adopted our second son and yes, we received a new birth certificate. Looking at it you would never know he was adopted. My husband and I are listed as the parents.

just curious, but did you have to request one or was it automatically sent to you? i've seen quite a few revised b/c in my time spent at children's hospital, but seeing documents and knowing the process are two different things!

I was privately adopted and my very original birth certificate with my birth parents named is sealed. I don't have it and it is not available for me or my birth families. My birth certificate that was issued after my adoption is my actual birth certificate and it looks no different than anyone elses. I believe it was automatically sent after my adoption was finalized and my parents did everything normal like get me a SSN.

I remember her talk show. I used to feed my baby and watch it every day. After the talk show ended she seemed to becom a nut job, and I couldn't stand her. I do recall her talking about her children and motherhood, and it was obviouse she loved them. Mental illness is rough. I hope Chelsea finds what she is looking for, and I feel bad for Rosie too.
