Whoever it was that mentioned using a nail file on toe callouses: THANK YOU! I just trimmed my callouses and then smoothed them with a nail file. They're much better!

You can buy gel kits at Walmart and CVS, they give you the same shiny look as salon gel. I just had gels taken off, I thought it was just polish but no, these required soaking in acetone and now my nails look like crap.

Instead of using acetone, You can just use a nail buffer and buff it off. That is better for your nails.

You can buy those rotary nail buffers with multiple heads.. they're great. And when you've got the polish off just apply normal clear coat if you don't wish to reapply gel or even normal polish.

ETA: You can buy soft gel kits at the drug store, but the heavy duty gel that I get and is normally (but not always) used on fake nails is not available for purchase commercially.

I really need to learn not to read comments...

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but I found an old interview where someone had blatantly asked Michelle if her family had dealt with any "rebellions" or shifts from faith by her children and she totally denied it. I wouldn't expect her to mention the molestation on daytime radio, but she could have admitted to some troubles without being explicit.

http://youtu.be/barGW4O3F1I (starts at 10:30)

Ew. The interviewer actually says, "Oh, Michelle. Does everyone tell you that they love your precious voice?"

:ew: :ew: :ew:

(snip)

As gross as I think Smuggar is in a way she kind of exonerated him when she said he had watched certain scenes of hers and thought that was how she wanted it, apologized profusely, and was like "a different person" the second time. Don't get me wrong - what she's described sounds like a horrible way to spend time with Smuggar - but she went public with a plausible reason why he could have been the way he was.

(snip)

In a business transaction the professional should know better than the client what needs to be covered before contracting for service.

From what she's saying it doesn't sound like they had a clear agreement regarding the transaction. As the professional that's on her.

IT contractors spell out exactly what is covered in a quoted price because clients can have no idea (or ridiculously inflated ideas) of what is reasonable in the scope of service. It's up to the person who does have this information and makes their living doing this to spell it out rather than assume the client has a working knowledge of the situation.

I can't believe I'm defending Smuggar over this, and as a person I still think he's indefensible, but if you look at this as a business transaction his culpability is in stiffing her part of her fee. That's bullshit and it baffles me that anyone would take a client a second time who didn't pay properly before.

As an ex-working girl, I completely agree with you.

As far as DD goes, I believe her when she said she had NO idea who she was.

So I'm thinking maybe she just assumed that he was just some john looking for his next woman and NOT Smuggar sourcing out a "professional" for his first ever (speculating here) paid interaction with a woman. She may have thought the boundaries were in place because he only said he wanted to "spend the night". That sounds like pretty standard "in-out a few times, champagne, room service" kind thing..

Too much assumption on both sides I think. She thought he had done this before and "knew the rules" and I'm sure she also thought if he had some kind of special request that he knew to comminucate with her. And he thought that what he was doing was norm for her and perfectly acceptable behaviour for a solicited sex session.

I almost can't blame him.. the most extreme things he had ever seen was in porn, and having never been exposed to it before.. maybe he thought that that's how the rest of the world did it.. If I was sheltered of completely new to the world, I'm sure I would think that too.. and I'm sure if he knew that what he did was wrong (which he figured out pretty quick the second time around..) and that a little more communication would have been prudent it would have been different I'm sure.. and she wouldn't be coming out and saying "it felt like consensual rape" (paraphrasing here).

Rambling. Sorry. Just my two cents. :popcorn2:

ETA: Don't make me regret saying what I said. I don't wanna debate.

Considering that he told her what a big fan he was, etc. etc., it make a lot of sense that she would assume he knew what he was doing. In trying to imagine him interacting with her, I can't see him admitting his inexperience. That would put him in a position of inferiority, in a way. Some men might be willing to say that, but he seems more like he wants to be an expert at all times. He didn't get the nickname "Smuggar" for nothing.

And I suppose it's possible she wasn't the first person he'd cheated with, or paid for sex with, but yeah, it's sure seems more likely she was the first. It is very interesting to me that (according to her story) he came back and was apologetic, like he knew he'd behaved wrongly. From her 2 accounts it *sounds* like that was after she initially refused proposition #2 although that's not totally clear to me. Did he not figure it out until that moment? Did he go do some googling on "kink etiquette" after encounter #1 and discover he'd messed up? Naw, that sounds like way too much organization and critical thinking for a Duggar! :music-tool:

I wouldn't even think he knows what such a thing even is... It is my understanding that he came back for interaction #2 and she refused based on the first experience and then he apologized and was "repentant" (as the fundies would say)

I would agree with you, but we have no idea if this was Josh's first time having paid sex when he went with Danica... for all we know he could have been humping outside of his marriage for years. It would even seem likely that he has been doing exactly that, as his first AM account was started when Anna was pregnant with their second child and they were still living in Grandma's house, and the other when he moved to DC. So chances are this was not his first time around. I have no idea if Danica is telling the truth (the whole truth and nothing but) or not, but as has been stated before, there is photographic evidence that it isn't very likely (but you never know).

Either way, we have no way of knowing what happened exactly and what didn't. And it doesn't really matter at all, to be honest. Fact is, he confessed to cheating on Anna. That in and of itself is all that really matters, no who he did it with, or how. Although it does make for sensational reading, I think the fact that he was such a hippocrite and what the fallout of this is/will be, is what we should be focussing on.

Yes, well please note that I said that was purely speculation. His actions and seemingly oblivious nature and actions going into the first encounter with DD suggests that, to me.

Case and point, yes. He cheated on his wife. He's a pig, oink oink. And a :music-tool:

Oh. And: hypocrite*

True, you did say it was speculation. I'm not trying to debate with you on that, or on your opinion. In fact you make very good points that I agree with, if it was indeed (one of his) first time(s). I probably should have made it clear that what I was saying wasn't directed at you personally, but I just wanted to point out that all the speculation that has been going on in this thread has been focussing on what happened or not with Danica, if she is telling the truth or not, if it was rape or not. And I think we should be focussing on the fallout of it all, not the sexy details, however sensational. But that's just my opinion.

(And yes, spellchecking would be smart before posting :? )

Yeah I couldn't care less about Danica. I've said what I wanted to on the subject.

What I'm interested in now is why the fuck the Duggars won't just tell us where Joshie is getting his "help" and if he's not getting "help" I want to know why they lied. :snooty:

That most definitely is Gothard phrasing and teaching. My parents were in ATI for 6 years, and even though it's been 20 years since they somewhat "got out" (stopped going to seminars and using the curriculum) they still blame everything on the devil. It takes a conscious effort not to roll my eyes when this comes up. The devil this, the devil that.

I get the same reaction to "the devil made me do it" as I do to people praying (or thanking God) for every little thing. Football players attributing a win to God; the car didn't run out of gas due to God helping you coast into the station on fumes; traffic was good today "Praise Jesus!" If God is so busy making sure his favorite football team wins on Sunday; and Satan is so busy tempting sad smug losers like Josh into searching for an affair outside his marriage, no wonder the rest of the world is in such a mess. The supposed two big bosses are goofing off!
