Huckabee was on Megan Kelly last night.

He said (paraphrasing) that the Duggars did what they were supposed to and did more than many parents would. He said they took him therapy, took him to confess to the church elders and took him to the police.

He also said the release of records was illegal because he was a minor. when Megan pushed back and said he was an adult when this interview happened and that appears to make it legal to release, Huckabee responded that she was a lawyer and she knew that he was an UNAdjudicated minor when it happened.

And she said but he confessed.

And Huckabee suddenly released his argument had holes and said "But he didn't confess in front of a judge."

SO HERE IS THE NEWEST SPIN.

They realise the records release was legal because he was an adult but now they are going to say it was government fault it didn't make it through the proper court channels for him to properly confess to Caesar's standards.

Huckabee isn't a lawyer either. Pish. He's used fo asking favors to destroy records, that's why can't understand it being released. He is alao an ATI fundie. He has to support them or look bad with other ATI families. I'm waiting to see if someone asks if his sons were around Josh around the time. They are horrible role models for boys. Porn and animal torture.

I dont recall anything about allowing sex crimes to be released. I think it simply was that it was not specifically exempt. This record did nkt qualify for exceptions as he was not a minor, it was only an investigation, no crime was charged, and no judge saw the case.

Yes, "unintentional torture," Huckabee called it. (Sounds vaguely like "Inappropriate touching"vs."molestation" "defrauding" vs "blaming a victim" "tender heart" vs."scared shitless I'm gonna be beaten with a rod.")Huckabee was more indignant that it came out than at his son's behavior. Behavior that the Boy Scouts were worried enough about to kick the kid out...They are psychopaths. I hear all the time about the criminal aspect of certain groups. Not all but some. These little factions break down into power struggles between greedy, not Godly, men.They are all nothing more than grifters taking money from desperate people. I wonder if ATI is imploding right now?

I hope a reporter does an indepth report on these guys. It is an election year. People need to know what these groups sponsoring candidates stand for. They want to cut taxes for education and make our country stupider. They care nothing for our Constitution. I just read about the founder of a home schooling alumni site. He says it is fairly open knowledge that the main home school parents' mentality is to undermine secular life in America and one day create a theocracy. It is scary stuff.

Those all are the same thing I said. It means whenever it was that Derrick proposed. It is a past tense generic timeframe. I can see it is annoying to those who don't hear it every day but it makes sense and is grammatically correct.

I hear, especially among the elderly, "when ever are we going to go to the store."

I have always found Josh unpleasant to watch. But I blame Boob and J'Chelle for not stopping him when it started and thus allowing their other children to suffer. And Anna certainly did not know the extent of it. Such a load of crap.

I agree. And what Josh has done as a teenager are vile crimes, not some stupid mistakes, no doubt about that. However, he was still minor who should have gotten appropriate help. The victims of course too.

But I do believe that Josh has been punished for his crimes. He probably got beaten black and blue by Boob when he was "disciplined" back then, and he has gotten his whole reputation and life ruined now. That is hard and not something he will recover from so easily.

The ones who could get away with their wrongdoings however are Boob & J'Chelle. And that really makes me want to throw up. :pull-hair: :angry-banghead:

Sure, he'll never have the political career he was dreaming of, and he's been thoroughly shamed by this, but his own community seems quick to support him. If he chooses to remain within fundamentalism (and why wouldn't he? the outside world hates him, but his fundie friends are patting him on the back), I'm sure he'll be handed some kind of position and given some kind of influence. Look at Gothard, for God's sake. He's still running the show from behind the scenes. It's a sick, sick world they live in, and they reinforce that sickness at every turn.

I agree it's confusing and easily misinterpreted by people who don't use 'whenever' this way, but Jill wasn't trying to mislead anyone intentionally in that instance. She made plenty of other problematic statements we can pick on; the 'whenever' thing is a non-issue.

I'm not criticizing any particular FJer, it's just that it keeps coming up and it's irrelevant, imo. Same with the way they pronounce Ben's name.

I also think that he will get a job at some shady organisation like IBLP/ATI in a few months. But I don't think that he will ever get his quality of living back or even near the level that it was before the scandal broke.

And living through a nation-wide scandal, while being responsible that the whole family's gravy-train derailed? I think many people would rather go to prison for a while than to live through that.

I question whether fundamentalists are really supporting him. It's one thing to run your mouth off online about Josh being forgiven by god, and quite another thing to have to deal with him on a regular basis. Mainstream conservative Baptist churches seem to be slowly detaching themselves from the Duggars, so even many of them have soured on the "wholesome Christian family" image. Josh's misdeeds seem to have been an open secret in ATI circles, and given their warped view about sexual abuse in general, he could find employment there, albeit not in a public position. However, given how Gothard's name has been dragged through the mud as well, it would probably be in ATI's best interests to try to find a leader who doesn't have a skeezy past, though given the kinds of men who seem to be attracted to this group, maybe none exist. :?

I was thinking about all of the things that people wish had been permitted for the Duggar children... better/higher education, more freedom, less groupthink, more opportunities for the girls, no blanket training, things like that.

When the SHTF with Josh, we saw a darker side of things. We saw just how spectacularly BoobChelle had failed their children repeatedly.

I really, truly wish that they would now give their children this one thing: Their Privacy. Walk away from the so-called fame. Fulfill any remaining contracts, but then end it. At least commit to a very extended break for everyone. Let these kids grow up in peace. No more cameras and sound booms and THs. No more Very Special Episodes. Stop acting like a family and just be a family.

Even Jesus needed time alone in the garden to pray. Duggars, I think that you need that as well - some alone time. To pray. To re-evaluate. To return to actual, real reality. To ask yourself some really tough questions. To set new, healthy goals for yourselves and your family. To get a real, licensed counselor for individual and group counseling. Believe it or not, there are professional counselors who are also Christian (shocker!).
