Seriously. This makes me want to scream. "I hope to set-up similar safeguards in my family." First, clearly those safeguards didn't work and secondly WHY WOULD YOU ASSUME YOU NEED THEM? That's so fucked up. The Duggars are claiming this type of thing happens in 2/3 families (maybe in fundie families, which shows how problematic this cult is), so is she just assuming this will happen? Who the fuck just assumes that their INFANT SON will grow up to molest future sisters? The fact that she doesn't realize how screwed up that is shows how brain washed she is. Just ugh. :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead: :pull-hair: :pull-hair:

I can't imagine looking at a baby and seeing him as a sinner. He's a baby. An adorable, innocent baby.

Do these people know that child molestation is not the norm outside their cult?

Poor baby Izzy. Already a prop AND a potential child molester, and barely two months old. :? I can't believe how Jill could say that, but it also reflects her lifelong isolation from normal society.

Jessa's comments about the porn production and their statement that 2/3s of families go through this are similarly incredible. I think the porn connection was a desperate attempt to discredit the magazine (also, hard to criticize the mag for objectifying you when you were just posing for People AND when your parents began the objectification process years ago).

I have no idea where they got that 2/3 of families go through this, though. Their cult is even worse than I suspected. :shifty-kitty:

What would Jessa know about porn or a porn connection? She's barely been out of the house for 6 months.

Also, if 67% of your faith group had experienced sexual molestation or worse, wouldn't it be time to find a new faith group?

Re: the porn thing. Jessa calling out In Touch is so ironic because Fox is launching a porn channel called FXXX that will be included in regular cable packages and available for streaming.

Jill's statement about how she was going to use the same safeguards was so sad. I pretty much lost hope for the Dillard family right there. Does this then mean Jill discussed this with Derrick, and he was in favor of it? He'll be just fine with locking his kids in their rooms at night to protect them from each other? How will Grandma Cathy feel if she's babysitting and those safeguards are on the checklist for their nightly routine?

My brother and I are 5 years apart. Not once has there ever been a need to safeguard us from molesting each other. These people are just....not right. And it's a travesty that they're now breeding a third generation of this craziness. From what I can tell right now, Jill and Jessa's children don't stand a chance. In 20 years, they will have been raised in the same neglectful and abusive cult their mothers were raised in and be just as ignorant, uneducated and, frankly, useless as their parents are to society as a whole.

Yes, this. My brother who is seven years older and my male cousin who is four years older lived with me while growing up. We wrestled, slept in the same bed sometimes on trips, they babysat me. And nothing ever happened. Because "something" happening between an older male relative and a younger female relative is not normal or healthy.

God, these people talk about raising male and female children like they're policing a co-ed dorm.

ETA: Also, having an older brother can be so cool, imo. Our bond really helped me understand guys and relate to them more when I started dating. It makes me sad they are robbing their future children of this bond.

Hell, even the 2 years I lived in a co-ed dorm...no one was molested. Not saying it doesn't happen...just saying that it's not THAT common. And no one needed to be locked away from the opposite sex, by any means.

How do these Duggar women ever manage to trust any men at all?!

They only trust the ones Daddy picked for them; which is a really bad idea because that lump of sh*t wouldn't protect them from their own brother.

It just shows how twisted their world view is. Which is not surprising after being raised in this Gothard/Boob&J'Chelle cult.

During university, I shared flats with straight men, and I never felt the need to lock my room. I went on vacation with three straight male friends and I even shared a bed with one (simply because a double hotel room was cheaper than two single ones). The Duggars would probably be sincerely convinced that we must have had some kind of orgy, since you know, men and women can't just sleep in the same bed, no way! Males will surely get tempted by the woman and they just can't control their urges. :angry-banghead:

That story was on a satire site. They are not doing that.

It also enrages me, because as well as being a sign of some really, really screwed-up thought patterns, it's also lazy-as-hell parenting. You could, ya know, parent your damn kid and teach him about why it is absolutely not acceptable to touch his sisters (or anyone) on their private parts, and teach him through example about respecting people's boundaries and bodily integrity. But that would take too much time away from putting 10 deadbolts on the bedroom door and vigorously schtupping away to make more kids you're totally unwilling and unable to parent, I guess.

I really want Jill to get help. I want her to be a whole and happy person, and a better mother than her mother ever was. I want her to see that it's NOT normal. It's NOT something everyone goes through. A little boy CAN learn to be an upstanding, loving, honest, and respectful brother and son without violence or "safeguards" if you take the time to be honest and firm with him about the standards and values he should live by.

Respecting others? Respecting WOMEN? We can't have that'! What is this nonsense you speak of?

I should have clarified--the Duggars are treating molestation/unconsensual contact like it's normal sexual acting out from hormonal teens, i.e., the shenanigans that go on in a co-ed dorm. I didn't mean to suggest that molestation is common in dorms (but ime, consensual sexual activity is).

And it also makes me wonder how the daughters relate to their husbands now, if that was the message they were sent about men growing up.

Also, I know this sounds a little paranoid, but if they have very young children with limited motor skills, wouldn't locking them in a bedroom alone/with other similarly defenseless young children at night be a terrible, terrible safety hazard if there's a fire or a child becomes sick or hurt and can't open the door or call for help? Or even minor things: I remember I accidentally locked myself in my room when I was four or so, and my dad had to take the whole doorknob off to get me out. Now it's a funny story in my family, but it truly is a safety hazard.

Very good points, sounds like an accident waiting to happen. Also, what if, and it is a big if, one of their kids does decide to molest one of their siblings, what's to stop them from molesting a same sex sibling? Molestation doesn't just happen to the opposite sex. Basically you could be locking your child IN with their molester.

Yep.

In Touch (how ironic is that) has indicated that there is more stuff.

I have no doubt.

It's too bad TLC bought the spiel.

The only bedroom in our house that even has a lock is the master bedroom. The builder did it that way for safety reasons (i.e. kids accidentally getting locked in.) Obviously we could switch out the knobs if we wanted but I don't think we will.

Have they indicated there is more? Oh dear, that's what I was afraid of. I bet there are a ton of skeletons that have just been hiding in the Duggars closet waiting to jump out.

This whole time I assumed they just kept the kids separated. I see people mentioning locking doors. Really? They actually physically lock the bedroom door of small children? That is so dangerous. And as a female child who was molested by her female sibling, I can tell you that locking them in a room with same sex siblings isn't going to protect theme from possible molestation.

That's what I wonder too. What if a girl molested a girl or boy molested a boy? Keep the kid in a cage

I remember J'chelle saying that even JB side hugs the girls to prevent sexual desires or some shit like that. Does anyone know if this is true?

I hope Derrick allows baby dilly to live a normal life. I wonder how this family would've spun this if it was rape and not molestation. According to the Duggars being touched isn't that big of deal. Even Jim dumb said it wasn't rape or anything like that.

I wouldn't doubt it considering what a massive pervert JB seems to be.

I have no hope for Derrick letting that kid have a normal life. Maybe, just maybe Izzy will be allowed to attend the same college to "carry on the pistol pete legacy" but that's still a big if. If they continue to raise him fundie, he probably won't even have enough personality to be a mascot. He'll just stand there with his hands glued to his sides.

Constant vigilance! For being so modest they sure sexualize their children early and often.

But, speaking of Derick, anyone know what he had done? The photos are so very unfortunate but it'll get better, right? Right?

(And no hope he will ever get a professional haircut again is there?)

What photos are those? I think he had jaw surgery.
