Sadly? It does not equal cancelled.

There are so many Christians out there screaming persecution over this. I have seen countless people on my facebook feed ranting about how liberals need to shut up and forgive what a teenage boy did.

When I bring up the facts (that he was molesting his sisters) they argue that he was taken to the police eventually. I mention that said police officer is serving 57 years for child pornography, and they again tell me I need to forgive him. Wow. Just. Wow.

I've been working all day and Mr. Anon710 just texted me that they pulled the plug.

I worry that they will sink deeper into the creepy cult and I worry for ALL the children now that the cameras aren't there.

I honestly didn't think the train would crash like this or quite this soon.

I feel so bad for the lost girls. All the kids actually.

Maybe they WILL break free, and live normal lives, but as I said, I think Boob and DQ will shelter the kids even more and things may get worse....

Finally. Though I never thought in my wildest dreams it would end like this. Always thought the show would limp to the end but it's totally going out with a very big but very pathetic bang.

Exactly!

I hope CPS gets involved and stays involved until Josie is of legal age.

The kids are not in school. Apart from the yearly ATI event they don't even attend homeschool-group things like some kids (even though those events are still really insulated) They don't even go to the library or swimming pool. They have no outside sources to get help from, and no outside people who are able to see what's happening on even a casual basis.

Josh might not be in the home anymore but Dimbulb and Mullet show they can't protect anything but their chances of looking good.

This whole situation is really upsetting me. I can only imagine how horrible it must be for the older "girls".

Forgive is fine, but never, ever forget!

And honestly it is not the public's place to forgive Josh or perv cop for anything. We have not been their victims. It is up to the people who suffered the abuse to forgive the abuser. And I don't mean in some "FORGIVE OR GO TO HELL" indoctrination way, but if they honestly in their hearts believe that is what will help them heal and they are able to do it, go for it. If not, I couldn't possibly blame them and there is NO NEED to forgive anyone for something so horrible, IMO. Some things are unforgivable and rightfully so.

I am so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those sneaky, child abusing, disgusting parents and their pedophile gay hating son do not need to be on tv. They are a poor representation of Christians.

Never in a million years could I imagine the scale of how bad this is or how this could end this way. I knew them and their lifestyle was so wrong for their kids but I just wanted the kids to escape - not learn that their culture created Josh to be sexual deviant - and his poor sisters are victims - I was really hoping it was just Josh fooling around with another teen girl - this is so sad.

I really liked TLC's statement. It affirmed they were "troubled" by the news and was focused on the victims.

I feel like any other celeb would give an interview but I don't know if Josh or the parents will. It will be strange for them to suddenly just not be on tv. No Jessa birth special? I'm not so sure. This will have to become part of JB and Michelle's testimony. They will still do conferences and speaking tours.

I think the show will be canceled for sure. I do think a daughter-only spinoff is a possibility. But I think Jim Bob, Michelle, and Josh are DONEZO as cast members. There's no way TLC can squeeze another penny out of them without risking things getting even worse. For one, who knows if there are even more skeletons in their closet that we DON'T know about? But beyond that, the Duggars' success on TV 100% depends on their smile-all-the-time, "we're this happy ALL THE TIME! believe us!!!" bullshit. They can't pull that off anymore. The second the show gets deep and introspective and actually deals with serious issues, it'd be all over. And that's the point they've gotten to.

I hope the media will investigate on this. I wouldn't be surprised if there were more victims, or/and if Boob would be one of the people who helped cover up abuse cases at IBLP and other places.

The connections Gothard has to the Duggars and other politicians (like Huckabee) and businesses (hobby lobby) finally need to be fully exposed too.

What about Mac?? And M4? Will Anna protect her daughter(s) from their father? Supposedly she knew all about this before marrying him, but what if she didn't? Would it be acceptable (in their cult) for her to divorce him and take the kids and keep them far far away from Josh??? Any court would give her full custody of those kids in a heartbeat. If she left today.

So, now that the show is pulled (Cancelled?) do you think that the film crew (who must know some real dirt on the Duggars) have a gag order on what they know - or maybe they have a non disclosure clause in the contract - will write a tell all book?

I saw the show where the crew tells about dealing with the kids and they've become attached to at least some of them. But I'm willing to bet that some of those kids are hell on wheels. And it would be interesting to hear just what the hell Michelle does all day besides check to see if she ovulating.

How much income would the duggar lose if the show was cancelled and can they afford it?

Not the public's problem if they can't afford it. They made the decision to have those kids and fund what they funded for their family. They should have planned accordingly.

They bought used all those years and saved the rest.

We know that TLC paid for their trips (Vacations) and so much else so if they now have to not splurge at the thrift stores so what?

I am thrilled!! Thank you TLC.

The bubble has finally burst.

There is no way there could possibly be a "spin off" with any of the kids, they are all too involved.

They don't need to be on this show to survive, they may have crappy educations but there are plenty of jobs they can get with no education.

It's time for them all to heal and move on.

What year were the documentaries first filmed? I thought it was around 2006 but I couldn't find the dates. If that's the case I find it odd that TLC/Discovery didn't get a letter like Oprah did or at least find out about the police investigation.

Who's to say that they didn't? If the person who e-mailed Oprah's show was that concerned, I don't see why they would not have also e-mailed the Discovery Channel with the same information. Just as TLC knew about Mama June's sexual predator boyfriend for quite some time before it all blew up in their face, it's entirely possible TLC was made aware of the molestation but banked on the fact that the statute had run and the police report would not be discoverable because it involved minors.

I agree with everything you said here. I wish the girls would get their own deals, so they are not financially punished for being victimized.

ETA: Though in reality they have no financial autonomy so the money would just go back into the JB's pocket. :angry-banghead:

Yeah. I completely agree. And, by the way, how are we gonna snark on here if there's no show? :o

I think pulling the show from the line up would be bad for the family. Their way of life and income suddenly dramatically changed and their dreams of their big announcement or birth of their child being an event are gone. I don't see how a bunch of people who have had their whole lifestyle pulled out from under them are going to be happy. And there is the issue of all these adult kids without the skills to support themselves and these younger kids who know no other way of life. Throw in a crazy belief system, some people angry that they are the victims of Josh's actions again, some depressed people, a menopausal mother and it all sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Some of the people on TLC's facebook page are delusional. To them, it's a mistake, and the show should stay on. We need to ban together and go after the advertisers if TLC puts this back on the air.

It's their own fault. These are the consequences of their actions. Jimbob is greedy. They don't call it a deadly sin for nothing. He's getting what he deserves.

Hey TLC - I know you're reading here - MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

Nashville would be perfect, I could show them around!

I've got no problem with Jim Bob getting what he deserves, I just hate to see his kids suffer - once because of how they were raised and again because the actions of their brother and parents totally made a bad situation even worse.

I would consider watching the show again IF and only IF they had episodes that specifically and 100% honestly addressed this whole thing. But it will never happen. When do they ever address anything honestly? How many times have they've been asked how they would handle one of their kids kissed before marriage only to answer with what they "teach their kids", not what they would actually do (not to mention that that is now completely blown out of the water). TLC would have some big build up teases to "find out what really happened straight from the Duggars involved" and then it would turn into one huge "special, amazing, precious blessing that God saved him" episode!

Quite frankly, I think the show should've gone off the air years ago.

Regardless of what happens now, the show will end sooner or later. It will not go on forever. Even if they do specials for births/marriages, that will not be a regular thing.

I don't see a problem with the show ending sooner rather than later, and frankly, I think it'd be good for the victims to not have to go through all this publicly.

We always knew the show ending was going to go badly for the kids. We just didn't really estimate HOW badly...

So excited, happy. Finally I got my vaccination appointment. The first on the 26th of May , the second on my birthday.  Staying at home is no option, because I work in healthcare, with very close patientcontact. (I make mammograms). Hopefully I can relax a bit more after my vaccination and let the anxiety go.

My uncle just died from COVID. He wasn’t that much older than I am, so I kind of grew up with him. Just ten days ago my mom had been pleading with him to get vaccinated, but he wanted to wait to make sure the shots were really safe. I’m kind of devastated.

I just found out my little bonus kid is in a treatment center on a suicide watch tonight. He and I share a hobby and a couple weeks back he opened up to me that he's severely depressed and was wanting to hurt himself. I let his parents know and thankfully he had also been talking to them. I'm just heartbroken because him being in this center means that his parents had to call 911 and have him admitted and I know that was so hard for them to do. He's a young kid and has his whole life ahead of him but just wants to end it all and I don't know how to help him.

Middle aged woman with mommy issues...but missing her today.
She got so much wrong with me, but she had the best intentions and tried so hard.
She got so much right, too.  I forget that sometimes.  Sometimes I remember and dismiss it out of spite.
“They did the best they could with the tools they had.”  I forgot where I first heard that but I’ve carried it with me like a mantra since my parents passed.   They truly did.  Whatever else was missing, whatever I needed that they couldn’t give, the love was always there.

      Always.
      That’s something.
My confidence in my own abilities.  Faith in my own power.  My own strength.  They gave me that, too.
      That’s also something.
They’re why I’m messed up, but they’re also why I’m okay.

      Shit’s complicated.
She died before I figured out how smart she really was.  Sad thing is I don’t think ever figured that out for herself.
Ignore me - just crying in my car waiting to pick up my son.
