R.I.P., Jonathan Crombie (Gilbert Blythe)

I was saddened to learn that Jonathan Crombie, who many of us loved as Gilbert Blythe in the CBC productions of the Anne of Green Gables books in the '80s, died of a cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 48 on April 15, 2015. His family donated his organs so that a part of his body will live on, but his work will live on, too.

This is an article from the New Yorker that was written in tribute:

Why We Loved Gilbert Blythe

I saw this too. Sad he was so young. I LOVED watching the movies as a kid and now too. Truly a classic. Hope I can share the Anne stories with my baby daughter some day.

Thank you for posting this. I cried when I heard. It's nice to grieve with kindred spirits. :group-hug:

I was well into adulthood when I first saw him on Anne of Green Gables, but to me he was the quintessential Gilbert that I had imagined from the books when I first read them at the age of 10. Rest in peace, Jonathan.
