Bates courting a Duggar?

I posted this in another thread, but: Lawson and Joy. She gets to live in Nashville and have a job as his photographer/media specialist. All parties win. Plus they would make cute country babies. They could be on a fundie version of Nashville.

Sure it would be hypocritical, but it wouldn't be the first time in history. I mean, even with secular or more liberal Christian families, you get the daughters who cant date until they're at least 16 and the sons who can date at any age, even if the girl they're dating is under the age of 16.

I also think there's a difference between a 17 yo with an 18 yo and a 17 yo with a 22 yo (or 21 if it's Nathan). Also it might not be on the Duggars end, but on the Bates end instead. I've heard Kelly say that she does not want her kids courting until they are 18 (and I would presume this would apply to partners too).

One of the confessions tumblr pages mentioned Joseph with Carlin (not Tori). Again that would not be official for a year due to her age.

A Duggar girl will never court a Bates boy as long as JB is in control of these "arranged marriages," unless the Bates boy is willing to switch teams and become a Duggar in Arkansas. So possibly that means a Bates girl and Duggar boy are courting, although quite frankly I'm surprised Gil would agree to giving up another daughter now that he's got his own fame and money growing from the new show. I expect Gil to start becoming more like JB and keeping control of the flock by marrying them to locals he can control in TN. This means arranging their kids' marriages with outsiders (non-ATI-Gothard) who can be molded into becoming a Bates and joining the show, a la JB.

My probably with that is Tori seems rather intent, for a fundy girl, on finishing her Crown College degree, and she's mentioned several times that she has several years left.

Is it telling that he met baby Izzy before Allie Jane (apparently Alyssa made a trip to TN this week)? He didn't post a congrats message to Michaela or Alyssa on their big news this week.

I think he does have his eye on a Duggar girl but either JB is skeptical (after all he'd move her to TN, he's not a malleable yes man who will be JB"s bitch) or she's underage (Joy-Anna) and they're not advancing until she's of age.

Maybe he spoke to his sisters privately and skipped social media? Good grief don't over think this!

Maybe he just wanted to travel with them to Big Sandy because it would be more fun in the bus than in a Bates van?

Joy-Anna is not 'underage' to date. Call it what they will, but it's dating. In most states she IS old enough to be married with parent's approval. We really MUST remember these people have not been raised to think of "teen years" or "young adulthood." They have childhood till puberty and then pretty much start "real life" with responsibilities. You cannot be an adult until you are married. They do not question that.

One question: What's happened to the Wilsons? Clark Wilson and all those manly sons who helped build the houses? Surely they'd be good husband material for a Duggar or Bates girl!

I think it would be nice if the one Duggar who was independent enough to go to "college" (kinda) wanted to marry one of the Bates with enough ambition to want more education than homeschooling. That would give me hope for them. However, I wonder if there will ever be a Bates-Duggar courtship simply because the families are close enough that the kids might perceive each other as siblings.

I doubt there will be a courtship anytime soon for her, not with how she is being portrayed on the show these days.

Sometimes I imagine a little role reversal between Jinger and Joy. Can you imagine Joy being subdued and sad and unworthy and Jinger being all smiley and chuckly and ordering Jerm around on the golf cart?

In the Bates' tell all show of Bringing Up Bates, someone asked if there would ever be a Bates/Duggar romance, one of the boys said something to the effect of "Tori probably hopes so!". Tori herself looked flustered and didn't answer the question with her yes/no paddle.

I wouldn't rule out that Tori is getting to know a Duggar boy.
