"Invites and Ride alongs" Part 4

Back at the TTH they look through the invitations. Ben says thats good, because they need to mail them. Jinger looks through them and she points out other pictures.

JInger says they needed some other person who was "thinking clear" because they are "so in love."

Jessa likes the invitation. They like the one where they're staring at eachother. Josh put the date on there three times because "people forget dates." :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead:

At the PD, Boob is going on a ride along with JD. They get into a squad car. JD says that he got into law enforcement for "community service.

Boob is wearing a shiny badge STICKER on his shirt that JD gives him. Its a "junior officer" badge. He tells him he has to wear it all day.

Rule 2 - dont touch buttoms

Rule 3 - he cant get out of the car on traffic stops.

JD explains that boob hasnt been on a ride a long but some of his other siblings have.

Back in the car, boob wants to play with the siren and lights. Boob then picks up a radar gun. He shoots a couple of cars. He hands it to JD as lightning flashes in the background.

Apparently thats too boring... they pull off to "back up" another officer who is on a traffic stop "just in case." They pull into a gas station parking lot and JD gets out, telling boob to stay in the car.

I know you're all shocked that boob gets out of the car. When he gets out you can see the white truck that must contain the camera crew. Boob heads inside to get snacks. He comes back out with gatorade, chips, donuts, and a newspaper.

They pull off and boob chows down. They blue light a car with a headlight out. Boob munches and says "you got one?" as he shovels chips in his face. The car pulls into a gravel driveway at a trailer of some sort. JD says that he doesnt stop too many people because he doesnt like to write a bunch of tickets all the time. Boob gets into the donuts.

Boob is glad he went on the ride along and calls him a "policeman." Boob wants to go home and get "real food."

JD says the patrol was good because there were no big crimes that he saw.

Looks like they now get adults' stem cells from their own blood...? http://www.nhlcyberfamily.org/treatments/collection.htm

"There are two methods for collecting enough Stem Cells for a transplant. Both methods apply equally to autologous or allogeneic donations.

Originally the collection was done by putting the donor under a general anaesthetic, and using a series of needles to extract bone marrow directly from the large bones, usually the pelvis. This was a relatively simple procedure but still has the same risks as any procedure which uses a general anaesthetic. The donor would feel no pain during the procedure, but would usually experience moderate pain for a few days after. This is the procedure they are referring to when you hear the term "Bone Marrow" harvest. (Harvest referring to the product collected from the donor)

The second type of harvest is the Peripheral Blood Stem Cell harvest. Bone Marrow collections have largely been abandoned in favour of this safer and better procedure. In a Peripheral Blood Stem Cell harvest, the donor is seated comfortably in an easy chair. An IV is placed into each arm. Blood is drawn out of one arm, sent to the aphaeresis machine where the CD34+ stem cells are separated, the the remaining blood is sent back into the IV in the other arm. In some cases a central venous catheter will be put in place if the patient does not appear to have veins capable of accepting the IV needles.

Peripheral Blood harvests have several advantages. The biggest and most important advantage is that the patient recovers faster, and with fewer major complications, when they receive a peripheral blood stem cell transplant, than if they receive a bone marrow transplant. Obviously anything that offers a survival and recovery benefit is of prime importance. Some other advantages are:

No general anaesthetic is required for the donor

The procedure can be repeated if enough are not collected the first time

There is little or no pain to the donor during the collection procedure, although the Neupogen to mobilize the stem cells usually causes mild to severe bone pain as the marrow goes into overdrive producing more blood and stem cells. This bone pain can be quite severe for some, but is usually managed quite well with Tylenol or other OTC pain medications for most.

There is a lower risk of collecting cancerous cells in an autologous harvest.

Because of these advantages, bone marrow harvests are not used very often. They are still used when the donor cannot harvest enough peripheral blood stem cells."

I've always been a Jill fan, but she's losing me with that stupid, adoring gaze at Derick whenever he talks.

So can we officially call the blank stare directed at a spouse/intended the "Gothard Gaze"?

"Wedding prep and pies" part 1

The wedding is fast approaching!

Michelle is seen making pie crust or cookie dough. Jason and James are making pies as a test for the wedding. They cook ground beef with a spatula. Michelle says their cooking style is for "survival" not for looks. They handle things like they would in the garage.

Boob - all the darned chillinz should know how to cook. They eat so they cook!

Josie is making cookies and complains they're breaking. Michelle says its from too much flower.

The boys pile the shephards pie into a casserole dish.

Michelle - with 19 kids someone is always cooking...

The pies go in the oven, I wouldnt call them pies.

Michelle tells them to use more "stars" as they cover the top with the cookie cut outs.

Back in DC, josh is making an omelette. Anna says its looks "amazing." She says Josh is a good cook and usually it looks good.

Josh is taking mac and mike to the music store while anna is home with marcus. Josh says that if you teach a child music at a young age they'll appreciate it.

Anna - Josh is very musical. She cant do shit, but she likes listening to it.

At the store... its empty and there are 3 people waiting for them.

"Wedding prep and pies" part 2

He took the M'kids to the music store because its like opening a "pandoras box" of all kind of opportunities (um, does josh not know what pandoras box is???)

Mac is using a real violing. The woman places her fingers. She plays a few notes. They clap.

Mac is very cute in the TH.

On to mike - he plays out a few notes on the piano. Josh says he could be the next musical prodigy.

Josh - its all about them developing a love and appreciation...

M'kids bang on drums.

Josh - theres no way anna would let that happen.

Back at the TTH - Michelle pages the family to have lunch on the phone/loudspeaker.

Jessa and Ben go first and see the pies. One is a chili cheesestake pie "cottage pie" - Ben likes that idea - it has protein.

Jessa liked them

Ben likes steak but the chicken was good too. They would both be happy if they "showed up" at the rehearsal dinner.

Josie and Jordyn TH - Josie is digging for gold in her nose. She goes back for more... I have no idea what they said...

TLC is definitely trying to rehabilitate Michelle's image. She has spent more time with Jason and James in this one episode than in all the ones from the past. They are making sure we see Mother of the Year interacting with all her kids.

Is JD a real cop?

And I guess, I won't consider JD lazy anymore. Learning how to operate all that heavy equipment, and learning to fly, and his 'Cop' work shows that at least one of the kids has some sort of work ethic.

"Wedding prep and pies" part 3

Ben walks into a jewlery store (this should be a joke, right). The jewler is pretending to look through a loop as he walks in. Ben says that the engagement ring was awesome and now its time for a wedding band. He has sketched it out and has ideas. Ben forgot to bring the ring with him. He calls "her sister."

Jana explains that they are going to the flower shop.

Joy - "us older girls' job is getting the younger girls dressed in the morning. Sometimes its easier when they're still asleep and get em dressed. When they're up running around its hard to wrangle them" Because... modesty?

JInger gets a phone call. Its ben! He is at White's jewlers and forgot Jess'as ring. She's not busy - I thought they were going to the flower shop... - sure, she'll bring it right over! Jessa gives jinger the ring. She goes back to doing her nails.

At the shop ben show the jeweler his sketches. Jinger shows up and hands off the ring. She calls him "benji."

JInger says it was fun to be included in the process. SHe's so close to jessa its really special.

Josie says she gets the ring when she's married...

Bin says that he will get whatever he picks. Its also about value.

JInger - the design was great. Jessa is going to be surprised.

Ben - jessa is going to love it when he "slides it on her finger..."

At the flower shop... Jinger isnt there.

Jessa says flowers can be pricey. They ask about colors and Jessa stares blankly. She has no idea what she wants. She doesnt know flowers. She just calls them "flowers." She wants off white/light pink. There's no plan.

I can't believe Bin actually designed/sketched a wedding ring that said BJ.

Thankfully he chose one from the jeweler's catalogue instead.

In a commercial preview, JChelle is claiming to have been anorexic or bulimic in HS.

This is now the second Ecceslia College shirt Josh has worn. Why??

speculation train- boarding here -

Getting paid to wear it?

They do offer 4 on-line degrees: Master of Christian Leadership

Master of Christian Leadership; Bachelor of Christian Leadership; Bachelor of Biblical Studies; Associate of Biblical Studies

Maybe he gets to take classes for wearing his gear on the show?

"Wedding prep and pies" part 4

Now we're at "flowerama"

They look at flowers on an ipad. Jessa says its too bad she cant pick wildflowers from a field.

Josie likes white flowers

Jordyn likes peach

Jennifer - red roses

Hannie - lavender a little blue

They pair the girls older/younger to make arrangements. Jessa says the women at the store are "sweet" and also did jill's shit show wedding.

Jinger shows up.

Jessa - our parents encouraged us to gain as many skills as possible so we try to learn from professionals. ie - we will never buy another flower arrangement now that those sukkahs taught us!

The woman shows them how to build an arrangement. They blow in roses to open them up. Gotta BLOW HARD!

Josie and Jordyn demonstrate blowing and the size of their flowers in a TH.

Back at the shop, they all blow in flowers.

Jana - these last moments together as sisters is bittersweet. We wont see her as much once she's married.

Jessa - after making arrangements, this is a skill some of the girls may pick up. It would be beneficial to have a florist in the family. They could put it to good use!

Next time - they're sending out invitations!

Michelle has her 30th reunion

Jessa gets in shape for the wedding

Jenny has a spooked horse.

I would LOVE to hear candid real stories from J'chelle's classmates.

Jessa just said they could learn to do flower arranging to "bless our family" I thought they were taught "JOY"?!?

Jill is completely absent from everything as far as Jessa's wedding planning

which is a good thing especially since last season was all about her

but at the same time I bet we the viewer care more than Jessa does :D

It would be nice if he were getting an education, but what would anyone do with those degrees?? Bachelor of Christian Leadership? That sounds like a summer camp class

I had a choice to go this way when i donated if I so chose, but I did the regular extraction method (with anesthesia)
