Poor children.

I couldn't bear to read the articles, but I have heard that the families are not backing the parents.

Not that this part of north Florida/ south Georgia is any worse than any other part of the country, but the documentary about Jordan Davis (he was 17, shot, sitting in a car, and the murderer will spend life in prison) will be on HBO this year, and perhaps be released publicly, as well.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if TTUAC was found in that house. I usually don't like censoring books, but I really think that that book needs to be outlawed because it blatantly advocates child abuse with dangerous explanations for how it really doesn't harm a kid. The misinformation is deadly.

You are not kidding. (see bolded) Two of my kids were VERY determined children, and I am sure this little girl was as well.. not a good mix when there are wooden sticks to beat people around the house.

I would be quite surprised to find TTUAC in that house. There's a history of beating and corporal punishment with people that has absolutely nothing to do with TTUAC. I doubt that father has even heard of the Pearls.

IMO the most telling thing here is a stepparent, where is the mother? The article never mentions the mother at all. Who is doing the beating? Her? Both?

Was the 6yo similarly beaten? Bet the baby belongs to the stepmother, but even that may not mean anything, that kid might get beaten as well.

Corporal punishment existed long before the Pearls. The article didn't mention anything about TTUAC or religion at all. It is another tragic reminder that parents who are motivated by "discipline" aren't magically less harmful than those who are out of control with anger.

There was a somewhat similar case years back in Toronto, where a father and stepmother were convicted of murder. The other children in the home weren't treated the same way, although I'd consider witnessing the slow murder of your sibling to be abuse. There are lots of wonderful step-parents, of course, but a step-parent situation is slightly riskier for kids. A step-parent faces all of the same pressures as a biological parent, but doesn't necessarily have the same bond with the child based on a combination of blood and bonding with the child from day one. Of course, in most normal people, this may lead to conflict, but not murder.

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

Someone please remind me to buy peanut butter. Seriously, I have been meaning to get some for at least three weeks, and everytime I remember, the shops are already closed!

You know what I hate most about subtle racism? The gaslighting. Stop cosplaying as a nice person and say it with your chest.

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
      This is pure evil
