So You Don't Have Any Confidence in Your Kids

Funny, on Dr. Phil today is a young woman married to a pastor who believes women are weaker and should be subservient. The woman's parents hate him and say he's controlling her but they aren't much better - very overbearing, interfering and angry that when the pastor called her father to ask for her hand, the father said to wait, but they didn't. Dr. Phil called them out on it in a way that made me think of Jim Bob and Michelle. He said that they clearly didn't feel that their daughter is capable of choosing her own mate, resolving her marriage issues herself, make her own decisions or to know what's right for her. He said: "So, you don't have any confidence in how you raised your child?" since you don't trust them to be a smart and independant person who can deal with life.

With all the rules and restrictions the Duggars have for their kids, including Jim Bob having to be the one to approve a potential mate, never being able to go anywhere on their own, always having to have an "Accountability Partner" to keep them from straying off the correct path (as seen by JB and M). Clearly Jim Bob and Michelle don't trust their kids to do the right thing without all the restrictions and oversight, and obviously have no confidence that they've raised them to be good people unless they (JB and M) restrict all the things they see and do.

They clearly don't trust them to be able to restrain themselves from having sex if they are allowed to even hold hands before marriage, or for the girls to wear clothing that bares knees and shoulders...because then the men might not be able to control themselves. The ironic thing is that once married they are suddenly free. As if just getting married suddenly makes you mature and able to handle all the things in life that might be dangerous or amoral. Sometimes I think JB and M consider getting them to the altar as virgins is their only main goal. What else do they really do for the kids in terms of preparing them for the world?

Those kids aren't prepared for the real world. They are raised to live in a Fantasy Land as engineered by Bill Gothard instead of Walt Disney.

The parents are just angry because they've been supplanted.

I wandered over there to see what the show was about. It looks interesting, so I will watch the full episode later when I get out of class.

Here's the link to the Dr. Phil episode, if anyone cares to take a gander:

I've said it before and I'll say it again. It's shows a major lack of faith in their parenting abilities. JB&M must not trust that they've parented their kids acceptably, because OMG WHAT IF THEY HAVE SEX BECAUSE THEY'RE HOLDING HANDS OH NO!!!!!

In all honesty, those parents should feel a lack of faith in what little they have imparted. They have hindered those kids for successful lives in the real world, more so than helped get them off to good starts.

TLC is not going to last forever and mega families, the result of using no form of BC, cost a great deal of money. JB was even forced to sell his family in order to provide basic needs.

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

Someone please remind me to buy peanut butter. Seriously, I have been meaning to get some for at least three weeks, and everytime I remember, the shops are already closed!

You know what I hate most about subtle racism? The gaslighting. Stop cosplaying as a nice person and say it with your chest.

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
      This is pure evil
