JFK shot by his wife, earth flat, etc.

Ugh. So my best friend just texted me this video:

Jackie was Jesuit educated, so of course she shot her husband. As a novel, it might make an interesting Medea-esque story, since he had so many affairs. (Although, like the film and novel Gone Girl it could really play into MRA stereotypes.) However, repeating one's assertions does not "undeniable truth" make. The Youtuber also believes in a flat earth, a non-helio-centric solar system, etc.

Also, I'm sick, in Uni, and working -- I don't have time to debate my friend on this. Should I just ignore her, or brush it off as amusing hype? Ugh.

I'd text back "That's hilarious! Thanks for the laugh! I needed that today!" But then I'm a trouble-maker like that. :D

Janes Heir. Does your friend have a sense of humor? Perhaps he/she is teasing you. Otherwise, kinda scary.

But you take care of yourself and get better. Writing papers at Uni is more important than debating your friend. Hope you feel well soon.

I've recently fallen down the wormhole of conspiracy theories on Netflix, and that has taught me that seemingly normal people will believe anything.

I'd send her a link to the book "voodoo histories" by David Aaronovitch.

Duuuuh! Everyone knows that the pope worked with the mafia to kill JFK!

{L_MESSAGE_HIDDEN}:
@KittenMitten. She has a sense of humour, but unfortunately not where everything-is-a-big-Catholic-conspiracy is concerned. The worst part is that her aunt -- a professional woman with more education than most of the rest of her family -- sent her the link.
I agree that it's not worth my time and effort right now to debate her, but it's kind of annoying that I'm now having to try to convey to my closest friend that we think VERY differently about numerous things and I'm likely going to be skeptical of much of what she believes. She really has no other friends her age than me, due to being raised as a fundie SDA, not going to school, etc. She's also had a couple failed relationships with guys she met through dating sites, so I want to be supportive, but it's getting to the point I somewhat dread spending too much time with her. I don't want to hide much of who I am as a very liberal/progressive Christian, but also don't want to be forced to talk about nothing but the most inconsequential things. At my uni I'm making friends with feminist, lgbt-supporting Christians (and others) with whom I now have more in common than my best friend of 14 years, but I don't want to just drop her. Sorry for the rant.

@Evilbad -- thanks a ton for the book recommendation! I'll definitely read that myself, and hopefully will be able to introduce it to others!

Umm what? I mean, do they know we can see Earth from space?

The moon landing was filmed in a warehouse somewhere out the back of Hollywood. And there is no space exploartion. NASA is just a government endorsed cover for the Illuminati. Or something.

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

Someone please remind me to buy peanut butter. Seriously, I have been meaning to get some for at least three weeks, and everytime I remember, the shops are already closed!

You know what I hate most about subtle racism? The gaslighting. Stop cosplaying as a nice person and say it with your chest.

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
      This is pure evil
