Why can't she just go away? Or learn a new trick other than realty TV?

Maybe I'll be wrong, but I feel like the show won't do so well.

I don't mean this as a slight to her kids, who are all very cute, but I'm not sure people want to watch 8 middle school (?) aged kids sass their miserable mother week after week. The redeeming quality of the show when it first came on was all the cute toddlers and the novelty of watching their parents adjust.

Now...eh. People have such hatred for Kate, and I'm not sure it's even in the same kind of way as the Duggars where you can hate them but still enjoy watching it for the spectacle, you know? Watching Kate makes my blood pressure go through the roof. I feel like her kids are going to be even more damaged by adulthood than the Duggars.

I think the difference for me though is JB & M don't seem to be trying to score points off their kids, don't constantly whine about how hard their lives are, and don't spend the whole show bitching at their children. Plus as weird as JB and M are - they're clearly on the same team. I thought the way Kate was towards Jon was pretty vile. Put some of it down to editing, but bitching out someone in a store/at home/in the car is still bitching out someone in a store/at home/in the car.

This is so true. I'm reading this thread trying to figure out why, if I dislike JB & M so much, why do I despise Kate even more? And you've pointed out that Kate can't even bother to hide, when on camera, what a nasty person she is. And I won't be watching either.

What gets to me so much about Kate is that she and Jon went out of their way to have so many babies, reportedly ignored the doctor's order to not try conceiveing that money because of too many follicles, did it anyway, had a bunch of babies, and Kate started acting like queen of the world. Earlier on, I watched some episodes, and she was so mean to Jon! She and Michelle are polar opposites like this. Somehow it's made worse because Kate doesn't even try to justify it as religion. Her kids are a means to an end just like Octomom's. And then she cries like she's the victim of mean people and has openly treated her kids like pests.

Jon's not the greatest dad out there, but earlier on, he tried much harder. As the show went on, you could see him wilting under Kate's constant badgering and bitching about the way he does even the little things. I feel a lot more for Jon, and detest Kate.

I loathed watching both Jon and Kate. Kate is a cruel, controlling, miserable woman, and Jon is a passive, childish idiot. My blood pressure skyrockets when I see them on TV. I can't do it! I'm not sure which of them will scar their children more - their awful, mean mother, or their father who essentially abandoned them for several years. I hope they have access to counseling.

I think Kate looked for a spineless man-child to dominate. I think her actions will hurt the kids more than Jon's passiveness. Chances are those kids are being controlled into passiveness too, and so will be able to relate to him.

Kate and the Duggars are both equally annoying but at least she seds her kids to real school and didn't raise them in a cult. Don't know why this show is coming back. I do like seeing how the kids have grown. Maddie is 14 now :shock: What can they possibly have for story lines

The only part that sounded mildly interesting was the "...now with Teens!" bit from the promo.

I don't think that Kate's capable of forcing Cara or esp. Maddie to be passive. OTOH, Girl 1 and Girl 2 are 15 and 12. Do I really need to watch teens rolling their eyes as entertainment?

I only saw a few episodes of that show..Kate is a horrible beast. I feel terrible for those kids. I saw a morning news show awhile back ( can't remember which one) featuring Kate and her twins. The non verbal communication oozing from those girls screamed hatred towards their mother which may be well deserved. Hopefully one day those kids will escape the hell they live in. Will not watch the new show, for the kids sake.

I don't like and feel cautious about the Duggars as some exemplary model of Christianity but I seriously cannot stand Kate Gosselin.

I think she purposely set out to have multiples a la the McCaugheys and has always been a fame whore.

She pissed me off when I read that her father (pastor?) had multiple gently used cribs but she pitched a bitch fit that she wanted new and matching. Where would the Duggars be with that attitude?

She then pissed me off again by making statements to the effect that her children were OWED a certain lifestyle, an upper middle class lifestyle. Owed by everyone. Fuck that, get a damn job.

Just watched a repeat of the RV trip to the Grand Canyon episode.

My thoughts:

1. Wow, I hope no RV company was sponsoring this, because they would be seriously pissed at how she makes RVing look like the worst thing ever.

2. Seriously, how hard is it to go on VRBO.com, rent a place and rent a couple of minivans? There wouldn't be much cost difference, and maybe they wouldn't all want to kill each other.

3. How do you go past absolutely amazing sites in the south west and NOT have a good time?

4. [From Hubby who briefly woke up long enough to catch a scene] Did she just punish a kid over nothing by making them miss the Grand Canyon? Who does that??

5. The kids are older now. Once they are out of diapers and strollers, why would this be so hard? I've got kids the same ages. Doesn't having more kids just mean that they can entertain each other? [Just took Girl 1's friend with us on a trip. Friend kept her happy, which kept Girl 1 from bothering her siblings.]

6. Maybe I should be grateful that my kids are great travelers.

I've seen a lot of pictures online of the twins out shopping with Kate, and never do they look happy. They're always behind her loaded down with bags like pack-mules. Unlike the Duggars who get worshipped in their fundy community, those twins don't have a little community. They have to go out in the real world for school and activities and everything else, knowing the world knows too much about their business and don't see is as a wonderful thing.

I watched last night. Without Kate being evil and mean, she just comes across as boring. Yeah, you have a lot of kids. Lots of people do. Once they are past the toddler stage, it's not so crazy and it is why they have to film things like vacations and trips to various activities. It was nice to see the children, as they had been so prominent for so long when they were littler, but a whole series of them just isn't....interesting. It means there's more focus on Kate, and how in god's name is it entertaining to watch someone else pack their bags for a vacation. I mean literally, I felt so nasty after I realized I just spent time out of my life watching someone pack their bags for a trip. lol

I don't think Cara said more than 4 words the whole episode. If she tried, Maddie talked over her, which again, why would I spend my time watching 14 year olds look miserable and complain about their mother and siblings. :pull-hair:

Didn't they film this crap last summer and are now airing it long after it was relevant to a) fill in gaps in the schedule now Honey Boo Boo got cancelled (for sexual abuse causes) and b) to coincide with Kate's Celebrity Apprentice gig 'cos Kate Plus 8 has very limited appeal all by itself?

I wish the obnoxious Kate all best wishes with Celebrity Apprentice (not watching because I detest Trump almost as much as I detest Kate) because it is her humiliating herself without her exploiting the kids. If she can stand on her own - that's great. Power to her.

I sincerely hope no-one watches the new episodes of Kate Plus 8. Those kids have been exploited too much and way too long to support Kate's love of freebies, money and fame. Let's give them the privacy in their teen years that they did not have as toddlers and pre-teens.

I know people like to excuse Mady's behavior since she has that horrid mother, but no. She's intolerable. So, so nasty.

Jon will always be a tool, but if the kids get to go over there and just play without being barked at all day, then that's awesome for them.

i just hope the kids don't crash and burn by making bad choices to deal with the drama of their lives being sold. Please, someone in the industry give them some help somehow to stay away from drugs or things that could hurt them forever.

This is like the total flip side of the Duggars. The Gosselin kids are out in the culture, in public school with real friends, teachers and counselors, and have a mother way out there selling herself instead of passive-aggressively trying to be a man's shadow (like Michelle, while it's still all about her). Maybe just maybe they'll see the train wreck and keep themselves out of it somehow. They can vent and be angry, while the Duggar kids have to keep sweet and bury the pain, but will being allowed to be real and openly get angry about it help Kate's kids to cope?

I'll have to see if I can get this "On Demand". I never watched the original season because I hate shows with screaming babies, but I did watch the birthday party specials last year and was interested. I'd be batshit crazy too if I had 8 kids all almost the same age.
