Man throws daughter off bridge leaves fate to god

There are some news stories that make me think the Maxwells have the right idea about shunning the media and staying blissfully unaware of what's going on in the world. This is one of those stories.

Rest in peace, Phoebe. :(

There's something to be said about the beauty of the 'honor code' in prison . . . Hurt women, animals, and kids, you're at the bottom of the food chain.

Hope his new cellmates know what he's in for.

When I first read about this, i thought "Well, toss him over too," because really, shit like this pisses me off and makes me vindictive, and makes me go all eye for an eye...

When I saw his picture my thought was " he's not sane" ( this was before I read the story about him saying his counselor was God and all)

And I still thought the best solution was tossing him off the bridge. And I can usually find a reason to be against the death penalty (not always).

A lot of people failed that little girl. The fact he was alone with her with a history of being arrested for beating up her mother and his own mother is proof that people were failing her.

all of his fellow inmates will know what he's in for, but they won't get a chance at him. he'll be in solitary or a special cell block.

There is another story, also out of Florida, where a 15 yo girl killed her 16 yo brother. She shot him. Of course the parents weren't home, they weren't even in town. And of course the kids didn't go to school.

The worst part is the state knew the brother and sister had sex. WHY weren't they removed from the home?? Incest between the teens did not "just happen". That happened because of some sort of sexual abuse from the parents, I have no doubt.

There are just so many of these worthless parents out there. And then the cps system fails too. They barely ever had a chance.

Did you read the part where the family locked the girl in her room for 20 consecutive days with only a blanket and a bucket. She also apparently attempted suicide twice yet notified no authorities.

I believe it. The article I read talked about the state knowing about the incest. The children should have been together again after that day. And it was common for the parents to leave town. So not only did CPS not remove the children, they didn't even check on them. Total fail.

Florida is also the state that lost a child in their system. She was most likely murdered by her foster mother. Her name was Rilya Wilson.

Florida is a terrible state for children.

I remember that. It pains me that my brother lives there and is planning to have kids there. It's a dangerous state for kids, non-whites, everyone.

or Arizona who got rid of CPS all together. just another example of how poorly republican states fail on child welfare while preaching pro life.

I remember that, it was horrible :-(

I don't get why this thread is in quiverfullofsnark, though.

This reminds me of another horrible incident that happenend a few months ago. There was a women who also threw her autistic son off a bridge even though people close to the family claimed that she used to be a very loving mom towards her son (until that moment).

Lauren Fisher's husband, as we all know, is also accused of throwing his son from a bridge into the water (in the summer of 2012). I wonder if all three of the adults that flipped out one day and completely unexpected threw their own children off a bridge all suffered from the same mental illness.

it's interesting to think about. it certainly wouldn't seem to be a common occurrence, but correlation does not necessarily mean causation. coincidences may be just that.

you know, lauren hasn't said one word about david for a long, long time. i've tried to do a search on him, but i haven't found anything new after about july 2012. the last i read, he was supposed to have some sort of pre-trial hearing thing in september 2012, but i can't find any article about that or after that with any new information.

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

Someone please remind me to buy peanut butter. Seriously, I have been meaning to get some for at least three weeks, and everytime I remember, the shops are already closed!

You know what I hate most about subtle racism? The gaslighting. Stop cosplaying as a nice person and say it with your chest.

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
      This is pure evil
