Isn't Jordyn supposed to wear glasses?

I remember that episode, but I hadn't really thought about Jenni's glasses since then so I didn't notice whether she was wearing them. I do remember her telling the cameramen that she didn't want to wear them, but the doctor said she had to. I'm guessing she usually takes them off or leaves them somewhere so she won't have to wear them, and her parents/siblings just don't bother to force the issue. (I remember them doing this with James, too, he would leave his chore/school packets in random places so he wouldn't have to deal with them and they implied they believed he did it in an accidentally-on-purpose way. Then again he has always struck me as a kid with ADHD, so who knows if it was intentional or not.)

I also seem to remember Michelle saying that they realized there was a problem because she would frequently get headaches while trying to do her schoolwork, so maybe they only consider it necessary at those times. If she's not getting headaches doing other things, it's not a problem, right?

Or it could be that her doctor told her that she needed to wear them, but only for reading. Unless they showed the doctor prescribing the glasses and heard the exchange, it's just speculation to say they're for anything more than school work/reading.

It is somewhat speculation, but it's not excessive imho. I mean, they featured it for a good part of an episode, showing the appointment and fitting and whatnot, so it does seem odd that she hasn't been shown wearing them much. Then again, I don't remember the episode clearly enough to know whether they may have said she only needed them for reading/schoolwork. If they did, that's one thing. If not, you'd wonder why they would leave that out if it were the case, given the focus they put on it. It's not like menial stuff is above the show (I'm remembering some dental appointments they showed in previous seasons - and really, who cares?) but if they want to waste time on this kind of thing you'd think they would make it clear whether she needed them all the time or not, especially since the Duggar family is already under the microscope because of the very fact that it seems unlikely two adults could really have the time to form a meaningful and supportive bond with 19 separate children. Maybe one of these days when I have some free time again I'll try and re-watch the episode to see for sure what they say about her glasses. I tend to wonder how Jennifer is doing anyway.

I don't think the Duggar's are people who'd see glasses as distracting of their countenance. They get dental care and orthodontia, I doubt they'd deny a kid glasses if it really needed them.

I think I've seen Jill wearing glasses on occasion so the odds are farsightedness runs in the family.

Could anyone tell me which episode that was?

Here's where Jenny's glasses were recently discussed in the General Duggar thread: viewtopic.php?f=87&t=23098&start=600

The Jennifer-goes-to-the-eye-doctor episode was just last season on "Duggar Daughter Dates" according to the original Duggar Family Blog. She needed them to see close-up like Jill does, which is why we do not often see either of them wearing their glasses. Also, J'Chelle and DImBob need glasses. http://www.duggarfamilyblog.com/2014/09 ... uggar.html

Jordyn is 6/7, right?

I got my glasses when I was about that age and since my vision wasn't that horrible at the time, I wouldn't wear them unless I was doing school work or reading. It was a pain to run around with them on my face. Maybe Jordyn's eyesight is still in the range where she can function just fine without them for her play time?

She just got them on one of the last episodes of last season. If she's like the vast majority of kids who get glasses around that age, whether far or near sighted, her vision isn't bad enough to need to wear them all the time. Usually they are just needed for schoolwork, or maybe riding a bike if she's near sighted.

There hasn't even been much of an opportunity to know if she wears them or not. And not wearing them on the show in the talking heads or playing with her siblings certainly wouldn't mean she doesn't wear them when needed.

My daughter started wearing reading (also for tv) glasses when she was 4. Six months later, at the next check up, they determined she needed to wear them all the time. They then told me by the next year my son would need glasses. The next appointment is in a few weeks and he's now 4. I've known a few kids who started wearing glasses even younger.
