My father said something really interesting today after I had started the topic about sexism in religious fundamantalists groups. He said that in religious groups where the women are demanded to cover their bodies because they might otherwise cause temptation in other men, the men reduce them as mere sexual beings.

They don't perceive them as multilayered personalities with different interests, hobbies and talents they only reduce them to sex (which causes pregnancy and babies).

In my oppinion said men aren't able to see that some women might have some other interests besides birthing children, working in the household and being a helpmeet like making movies or being a scientist. They think women are only for them and nothing else.

Very good point. It is what happens when men are solely in charge of defining who and what a woman is ('cause god said so), instead of women defining who they are.

Don't speak in church.

Don't have many women friends and no friends of the opposite sex.

Don't work outside the home

Don't need education

Obey their spouse/master.

Accept discipline when they are "bad", 'disobedient', 'unruly' or whatever their spouse/master defines as deserving of discipline.

Don't pick their own spouse, but are given/sold/handed off to a man by their father, at his discretion.

Sounds like slavery to me.
