As much as I enjoy reading and snarking about the Duggars, I would hate for them to be cancelled. I want to see what happens to the younger kids as they get older. I really hope they aren't cancelled. I kind of feel like I watched the kids grow up.

I agree. I really don't like them, and enjoy the snarking, but don't want the show to get cancelled. My reasoning is that I want it to stay on the air in hopes of a shit show. I am waiting with fingers-crossed for one of the Duggar kids to rebel or mess up in some way. I want the cameras there when it happens.

I want them to go out in a blaze of glory like jon and eventually kate did.

Obviously not quite the same, but have them be upfront with their beliefs and show their true colours. No more whitewashing.

Keeping the show on the air keeps us talking. Keeping us talking feeds the rumor mill. The rumor mill puts some of it into mainstream. That makes them have to keep some stuff not has whackadoo as I believe they have been in the past. In some ways we are making them change.

Dont get me wrong, I am not one of those people that scream "free speech!" when people face the consequences of their hurtful opinions (Think of the whole duck dynasty debacle) The first amendment protects the people from the government infringing on these rights. it doesn't create a right to a TV show.

Having said that, the Duggars are open about their views. Why should the show get cancelled purely because they flaunted these already very well known views?

When people are offended by peoples actions, then they should stop fueling the fire. You cant strong arm people to believe your way. If people are that offended, they should stop watching the show, not force a network to cancel something even though it is wildly popular. It will just cause opposite backlash (Chick fil-a, and again, duck dynasty)

The Duggars are on the wrong side of history, time will prove them wrong as public perception subtly shifts. But trying burying opinions that you dont like isnt the right way to approach it.

Also, what would we snark on?!

Exactly, don't cancel them, just put their feet to the fire. I am sick of TLC and other channels putting ignorant people up on pedestals. :angry-banghead:

I read some of the comments from that site. I noticed a lot of them said they were gay or lesbian and LOVE the Duggars. Didn't DQ's robocall compare gays to pedophiles? ( sorry, I don't fully remember the details of the robocall.)

And I would agree with poster above. I want them to go out in a blaze of glory like Jon and Kate. Lol.

YES!

I would love to see that show being canceled. Although cameras may prevent J’ichelle and Boob from abusing kids, the show is emotional abuse itself. These poor kids deserve some privacy. And I also believe that as much as cameras prevent abuse, they prevent kids from leaving Kool-aid drinking cult.

And... Without show these attention whores would find different ways to make everyone look to them. Without professional writers, editors and PR-specialists, how long it would take till one hateful, uneducated family destroys a public image they have now?

I wonder if they get cancelled would some of the kids feel freer to escape? I feel like some of the older kids are not only trapped by Jim Bob, but the confines of the TLC contract; if they flee, wouldnt there be a potential for legal issues because they didnt fulfill their appearances?

Now that they are adults they have to sign their contracts for themselves, essentially trapping them in the family for that season. If the show was cancelled and there was no contract, they could pretty easily run and make some quick and easy cash to get them by until they find work by selling a few stories.

I think if they werent in the spotlight anymore maybe JB and Michelle could be more like Ma and Pa Keller, their kids who left the flock are still welcome to come around and be a part of the family. Who am I kidding, they will be like the Jeub parents no doubt if one leaves the flock.

That's already interesting to see how different the younger kids are from the 7-8 older ones : the show obviously diminished the level of abuse, cancelling it might bring it back ... They are more and more wordly, which if it continues might give some of the middle/ younger kids an opportunity to escape ... The show is exploitation but probably make the lives of those kids easier ...

I would rather JB be forced to set aside a decent amount of money for those kids-in private accounts that only they can access.

Children working in reality TV should have all privacy/safety, monetary and educational protections in place, similar to those provided by the SAG to other child/young adult professionals.

Why shouldn't Jana, JD or even Josie be personally paid for selling their stories? JB profiting off the kids' private moments is exploitation.

Josh Duggar To Lead Rally Against Marriage Equality in Arkansas

Tomorrow, the Family Research Council and its Arkansas affiliate will join with Rick Scarborough’s Vision America to hold an anti-marriage-equality rally in Little Rock.

Among the speakers at the rally — which follows the state supreme court’s decision to take up a marriage case — will be Arkansas native Josh Duggar, the TLC reality show star and the executive director of FRC’s political arm.

• Mr. Joshua Duggar – Executive Director of FRC Action

• Mr. Jerry Cox – Founder and President of Family Council

• Senator Bart Hester – Arkansas State Senate

• Representative Bob Ballinger – Arkansas House of Representatives

• Pastor Happy Caldwell – Founder and President of Victory Television Network

• Pastor Derick Easter – New St. Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church

The Arkansas Family Council urges members to turn out in Little Rock:

Are you ready to make your voice heard to the Arkansas Supreme Court about the sanctity of marriage?

Are you tired of judges running roughshod over the will of Arkansas’ voters?

If you are, then I want to invite you to an important rally on the Capitol Steps in Little Rock one week from today.

On Wednesday, November 19, at 11:00 AM Arkansans will rally in support of traditional marriage. This is an opportunity for everyone—especially ministers—to make their voices heard in saying marriage in Arkansas should remain the union of one man and one woman.

And it was a scare campaign about how making all public restrooms open to anyone would endanger children because predators could just walk in. Well, hello that can happen anyway.

Once again fundies use fear as a way to control others.
