I feel bad for Joy Anna...

Looks like puberty has endowed her with some, er.... huge tracts of land... and as a big-chested person myself who attended a really conservative Christian college, almost nothing I wore was considered 'modest' enough, even if it covered everything from neck to ankles and my less-curvy friend had just worn the same outfit to church that morning without complaint. I wonder what poor Joy Anna will have to wear.... a tent?

i was the same :/ all my tshirts had to be loose, and if they weren't then i couldn't wear them out. my mother would make the final judgement on if my shirts or jeans were too tight (by the time i hit puberty, they had been well out of the skirts-only phase). and the ones she deemed "too tight" usually weren't really too tight at all...*le sigh* i hope they at least spring for good bras for her (for all of the girls, too). when you have big boobs and you have a crappy bra, it's not just a figurative pain, it's a literal one.

As a busty gal myself, I really find it aggravating that my sister and I could wear the same exact thing (she is an A cup, I am a DD), and I would be considered obscene or vulgar while she wouldn't. You see comments all the time to this nature when busty girls wear anything with a v-neck, halter, etc. This kind of body shaming is not unique to the fundie world. Hell, just look at the comment section of any fashion or celebrity blog on a post about Kate Upton. Shes called trashy and a porn star for existing with a large chest, even if she is just walking down the street in normal clothes.

Also, I'd like to add that based on this title I thought it would be about the fact that it seems the Joy has been promoted (or is it demoted?) to J-slave now that Jill and Jessa are gone.

Michelle probably gave her some of her old nursing bras and called it a day.. "buy used".... I, too, hope she gets some decent, supportive undergarments.

Bind her chest so she doesn't have any cleavage?

A properly fitted bra is a wonderful thing. It makes my back ache to see large busted woman jiggling (cough cough, my sister in law, cough cough).

Buying used undergarments, to me is disgusting. I wonder if they ever share undies. :wtf:

I'll start the Joy Anna Boulder Holder Fund.

Oh I hope they don't buy her bras used. Poor girl.

Do consignment/thrift stores sell used bras? Is that legal?

I can all but guarantee that they all wear the scratchy white bras that come 3 to a box, and only on sale at Walmart. Not that buying boxed bras or on sale or at Walmart are bad things, but I bet that they aren't allowed to shop for bras based on what's most comfortable for them.

Because of my lung disease, I had an enlarged rib cage and I find that most bras are hideously uncomfortable (I never wear bras at home unless we have company). I finally found a style in VS that I LOVE. They are in the cotton collection and go on sale for 2 for $40 twice a year, so I actually have about 10 in different colors that I rotate. They last so much longer because I might wear the same one 3-4 times a month.

Life is too short to wear uncomfortable bras. I'd love to take those girls shopping, get measured, and tell them to get whatever colors and styles they want.

It has to be hard because thriftiness is encouraged, yet Joy has such a different shape from her older sisters- there is no way that she can share in the clothing pool.

Some local thrift stores here do, next time I go I'll take a picture. I guess unless it doesn't have stains or smells it sells.

I think undies and swim suits are not allowed to be re-sold unless unused.

I have huge knockers and I just hate it when theres nothing out there that could support me. I get chaffy and trashy and sometimes I get stabbed (yes)

I could only imagine how Joy Anna feels.

I was sad to see some commenter on a celebrity gossip site called Joy fat. Like seriously? She looks average and healthy to me. It's not her fault that some of her sisters are very thin. I actually prefer her and Jana's body type to Jinger's. I really hope the family doesn't make her join weight watchers (like Jana) and she can embrace her shape. She is just naturally a little curvier and more busty than some of her sisters.

I think Joy Anna takes her body shape after his sister Deanna. Joy Anna is definitely not fat or over weight. The Boob needs to pry open his wallet and let Benjamin ($100 bill) see the light and buy her some new clothes that fit her correctly. Adult children sharing clothes is ridiculously to me.

The Boob and DQ would have a break down if one of the girls was a size I in a bra cup. My daughter was a 36 I at 14 years old. She only weighed about a 100 lbs then. When she had PE and ROTC she would wear 2 or 3 sports bra to keep her girls from bouncing. She had such painful back problems that when she was 18 she had a reduction. If I remember correctly after her reduction she weighed 10 lbs less. The one down side to a reduction is my daughter will never be able to breast feed. That is the one thing the doctor kept emphasizing that. But at 18 babies and breast feeding were not on her radar. She is now trying to get pregnant and she said that she is still glad she had a reduction.

I agree - I don't think she is "fat" at all. I also prefer her body type and think she is a very pretty girl.

It's got to be hard to be a Duggar girl. You are all expected to look and act and marry and live a certain way.

For any fellow busty gals who have a hard time finding bras, Lane Bryant. Wait until there is a sale and buy them buy 1 get 1 free. They'll also measure you so you get the right size and help you find the right style to fit your boob type. I'll quote my bra specialist, "Just because we have the same size doesn't mean they are the same shape." I'm larger than what they carry in my local store but in one style if I go up a band size it's the same as the size I should wear. So instead of buying a 38 G I buy a 40 DDD which means I can try it on first.

I hope for Joy's sake they understand that we all are made differently. Some are tall and skinny, some of us are short and stalky. Some of us will never be tiny girls and some of us will never have curves. I would hope that they go with that God makes us all just the way He wants us. I've considered a reduction before but my grandma was against it. I do have a lot of back issues but I also have a muscular issue so it isn't tied to my breasts. She was adamant that God had given me the girls and I should be proud of them and he had given me the body to support them. She was against all plastic/cosmetic surgery though unless it was a medical necessity. At 35 I'm finally start to accept what she was saying. I get that no matter what I do I'll never wear a size 2 and I'm finally OK with it. I hope Joy has that same kind of support because I can't imagine how mind fked it would be not to have that kind of support.

IMO, she could be on her way to becoming an overweight teen. This is based mostly on her saying she eats Ramen noodles for breakfast. I can only imagine what the rest of her diet is like. If she starts it out that bad, the rest can't be good.

I'd have to know what her body fat percentage is before saying anything is wrong wit her. I do know she was attempting to eat better, more lean protein and veg. The thing with people built like her, and I fall into that group, our actual weight will always be higher than someone built differently. I am currently about 35 pounds over my "ideal weight". I'm about 10 pounds over what I should really weigh though. I had real issues a few years ago when I saw a surgeon and my paperwork came back with me listed as obese. I went straight to my GP to find out what we needed to do. He laughed in my face. He made me do a body fat percentage, then had me figure out what I would weigh with 0% body fat. That number is the absolute most I could weigh and be in my "ideal weight" range. 0% body fat would also mean I was dead, he called my surgeon and raised hell because he viewed it as irresponsible to do that. You can be skinny and be just as, if not more, unhealthy as a heavier person. Health is not just about how much you weigh or what you look like.

I was a pretty curvy teen (still am, but I lost a ton of weight by starting a new workout regimen and because I spent a year living in a tiny rural village where sanitation wasn't great...giardia is a great way to lose 10 pounds in the most unpleasant way possible), and speaking from my experience, I really hope that Joy has people telling her that she's a gorgeous girl just the way God made her, and that just because she's not teeny-tiny like her sisters doesn't mean she isn't beautiful. I also really hope that someone in her life will come to their senses and take her shopping for well-fitting bras and clothes that both hang nicely on her frame and are comfortable for her. If she's wearing her sisters' hand-me-downs, she's bound to be tugging at and readjusting everything constantly because those clothes were made for girls with a different body type from her.

You can have all the opinion that you want, but IMO it is completely inappropriate to snark on a teenage girl that did not ask to be put on tv. It's not like her parents give her a choice, she has to appear. It is really low of you to say that, especially when there is a lot of speculation that at least some of the Duggar's read this.

It doesn't matter what she eats or when she eats it, it is not okay to snark on a child that has no choice about being in the spotlight. It's really none of you business what she eats or how she looks.

She is a beautiful young girl who is probably a whole lot thinner than a lot of other girls her age, but it is hard to see that when she is on tv.

I hate when people here internalize another's post. No one needs to be lambasted for their opinions and observations. And even if Joy did not make the choice to be on TV, she is on TV and is reaping the positives (cars, clothes, iPhone, computers, travel) as well as the negatives. This is what life is all about on this planet. Further, the kids are 25/28 of the entire cast- if there is to be no snarking on the kids, FJ may as well shut down. Jesus, it's not like someone voiced an opinion on Joy's usefulness or outward beauty- a simple statement was made based on TV appearance.

Sadly yes. I've seen USED underwear (bras and panties) at our local Salvation Army thrift shop. Puke!!
