Proof that TLC and the Duggars Read Free Jinger

The girls don't have unrestricted access to the internet, though I believe Jana has the password for the parental controls. Michelle discussed it at some point and had a list of all kinds of things they don't allow on the computer OR on their phones, the primary concern being search engines. They can't access search engine webpages and can't load any sites that have embedded search engines that might take them to an external site. And it's much stricter for the boys because apparently a single unmonitored moment would result in GB after GB of buggy torrented porn. JimBob's phone doesn't even have a web browser on it. (So he can judge the appropriateness of every single interaction his teen children have with their friends, but apparently can't be trusted with Safari on his iPhone. Bulletproof moral fiber!)

How do these people live without Google? SERIOUS QUESTION.

How do these people live without Google? SERIOUS QUESTION.

They don't need Google to find information, they have the Bible, and that's all the knowledge anyone needs! (Not that Jesus has much to say about how to fix your wireless router or the best place to buy your preferred brand of cat litter. You're on your own for that stuff.)

I still stand by my opinion that they haven't actually read the Bible. I just read whatever ATI/Gothard sends out and think that's what the Bible must say.

Rotan randomly deleted AND blocked me on instagram a while back. It was probably when he commented on someone's blog and got us all talking. They definitely follow what happens here.

Who is Rotan?

I think he works for TLC and has helped with the duggar show. Cameraman maybe? But he leaked a few spoilers or spoiler like sentences a few months back that got people talking. Someone else may know more specifics on his exact job.

I think it's a safe bet to assume that TLC staff reads here and a lot of other places on the internet where the Duggars are discussed.

Basically all major companies track the internet activities related to them nowdays. They usually have special software for that and often even hire specialists whos job is only to maintain their social media management and to help the company build a good reputation.

TLC knows very well that the Duggars are controversial, and they will keep an eye on the public opinion of them and on internet sites which could be harmful for the Duggars and TLCs reputation.

Whether the Duggars themselves read here is a different question. But I wouldn't be surprised. I'm pretty sure at least Josh and maybe some of the older kids know about this site.

Considering random posts on FJ have been "cited" as sources for tabloid-style Duggar articles recently, I'm sure TLC (and possibly even JB+M) keep tabs on FJ. They know that a magazine can take anything from here and run with it. After dealing with times when similar situations can actually lead to pretty serious findings that impact their bottom line (like Honey Boo Boo) it would be stupid of them NOT to have someone doing their research. All it would take is one Duggar kid being spotted out holding hands with a non-Christian or something equally scandalous and they'd have all sorts of unwanted attention.

I also get the feeling that the older kids have less restricted internet access than we think. They have iphones and laptops. I'm just not buying for a second that JB+M could keep up with surveillance on that many devices. And regardless of whether they all have unmonitored access as teenagers/young adults, obviously Jessa, Jill and Josh have unrestricted access now. I know if I was them, I would find it hard not to look once in a while to see what people are saying, but they may be better equipped to ignore it as seasoned celebrities

It makes me wonder what would happen if one of the J Kids tried to contact Free Jinger for whatever reason (maybe help?) - would the powers that be here know it was really them?

I agree. I think most of the comments they made about Internet access and screening was made back when 1) they were much younger - like only Josh was a legal adult and 2) more importantly - back before phones all had Internet. I know lots of parents like to think they can block access with various censoring programs -- but I think those parents have kids who are willingly censoring themselves.

I would think if Jessa only got unfiltered access once she got married, and then suddenly was in the hell storm of vile gossip that's been directed at her -- she would likely stay away from the Internet forever. Well except for selfies ;)

Really the whole horrible series of stories are probably being used to prove why exactly the Internet is evil.

And the world did exist before google :D

I would be more surprised if they were not aware of FJ. If they haven't stumbled upon it themselves by now certainly someone else who has knowledge of FJ has clued them in. If I am correct, the group name was inspired by their daughter. Josh, Derrick and perhaps Ben (pre-shed/kennel days)have no Internet restrictions. FJ comments on topics pop up routinely when doing Duggar or fundie Internet searches...it is how I found this site. Maybe the at home kids do not read this forum but I bet JB and at least a few out of house relatives/in-laws do.

At the least... the potential In-Laws would have had to stumble upon this site. You don't merge with a "famous family" and NOT do extensive Googling. I'm pretty sure this is one of the first sites that pop up when you search "The Duggars".

I just did a google search, and FJ is actually on the second page. Still, I think someone who was doing extensive googling would find this site.

If Jinger ever Googles herself, FJ is the 4th thing down from the top, so she's sure to see it.

ETA: The Duggars and Bates Confessions Tumblr is also high on that list, so that's probably eye opening as well.

But I think we've all learned that the Duggars don't do anything for other people. They go on the occasional poverty tour abroad and give money to hate groups. When's the last time you heard of them surprising a waiter with a large tip, paying the person behind them's meal, or giving money to keep a homeless shelter afloat? Yeah, never.

Oh come on. What about that episode where they brought cookies to the police station (or was it the fire dept) and one of them announced how great it was that their parents encourage them to support their community while the actual first responders sat there looking like "WTF? Cookies??" I was moved to tears I tell you by that spontaneous outpouring of genuine concern for their fellow citizens.

Out of curiosity, did the girls ever complete their training with the rescue squad? IIRC they made a big fuss episode over the gals making uniforms out of skirts and showing them to the captain (who looked like he couldn't give 2 shits) .

I re-found the article I'd read about how they handle internet security - it was from two years ago, but they were already discussing iPhones and the dangers of 'scarring the soul' by looking at dirty pictures.

http://www.tipsonlifeandlove.com/parent ... s-for-kids

I'm sure Jessa is happily surfing the web these days, taking full advantage of her new freedom (as I hope the other 'kids' have done, too, because it's valuable to understand all the information that is out there and the opportunities available to an individual with internet access), but for the kids at home... not so much. Even if the article is two years old I have no doubt they're still using these methods to limit their children's access to outside information.

I missed this episode! That's a major safety hazard. If I were the captain, I would have said: "Go home and don't come back until you have pants on!". :naughty:

Jill I think finished her first responder training which would now be null and void. That classification was killed about 6 years ago. Unless she went back to take more classes and go to EMT level, which I doubt or we would have seen that. Jill does have a photo out there of her in full bunker gear which means she's in pants.

Considering the Free Jinger twitter account follows Josh, Anna, Ben, Jessa, Jill, Derrick and I'm not even sure who all else in their "circle", I think it's safe to say if they have ever looked at their follower list or get notifications about their followers that they know we exist ;)

To be fair, they only modified the dress uniform; both Jill and Jana wore the trousers that were part of the safety gear.

There is a picture of Jana in the safety gear trousers on the Pickles and Hairspray FB I think?
