She's young and healthy. I hope all goes well for her, and that her midwife is knowledgeable enough about it all to safely see her and the baby through.

The poster child of unlicensed Gothard midwifery? Where else WOULD she deliver? Derrick isn't part of the equation. I hope it all goes well. I am glad that both Jim-Bob and Gil Bates took their wives to the hospital when things looked scary. This movement does not need a martyr.

Guess I'm not surprised, can't believe derick would be ok with that though if something was to go wrong........

Home birth with a trained midwife and a back up plan is a perfectly acceptable option for a low risk woman.

I just hope she uses an actual licensed midwife and not another "Miss Theresa". Yes, she may have had a lot of knowledge, since she was a childbirth educator and doula for many many years, but reading about what is done in an emergency, and actually being able to do what needs to be done in an emergency are two different things. Of course, she'll probably assume that she'll have the same luck as Anna.

Even considering the source, why is Derrick a "25-year-old missionary" and not a "25-year-old accountant" or "25-year-old accountant and missionary"? Oh yeah, because his actual accredited secular education doesn't mean shit.

Especially since Jill is a "professionally-trained midwife" herself. She's a midwife?

I am going to nursing school - working on pre-reqs now. Can I go ahead and say I am an RN?

Fundie midwife no that's too dangerous. Real midwife with backup plan close to hospital yes. I see nothing wrong with the second option. I hope Derrick reads those index card bible verses to her while she's in labor and Michelle not be present

I hope she doesn't say "Praise Jesus!" every time there is a contraction.

I saw the looks on Jana's face when Hannie was being born - she feels the same way lol :wink-penguin:

I should hope this means that it is definitely a singleton and not twins(just because of the chances of complications), but I guess not necessarily. Honestly, I think home births are fine as long as you're within a reasonable distance of a hospital just in case.

Personally, though, I could never deal with the mess.

I hope that they have some back-up plan in case something goes wrong. And I guess they have. At least the tv crew has. They wouldn't wanna risk to have one Duggar die on the scene. That would be very bad publicity. So I'm not that worried about them.

If that's what she wants, cool.

Personally, I think it's as much the fact that they can fit more cameras in their house....

Jill knows very well all the things that could go wrong. Look at all the high risk pregnancies she has "guided" Michelle through...I wouldn't worry about her more than any other pregnant woman. I'm sure they're not too far from a hospital if needed, and she is at least moderately trained to recognize problems. With her experience plus another midwife I wouldn't worry too much.

AFAIC it doesn't really matter if the midwife is a fundie or not...I mean, Michelle's as fundie as they come and all of her high risk pregnancies weren't at home. She might be stupid but she's perfectly aware of how many women all over the world with high risk pregnancies die in childbirth. Jill's not that stupid that she'd stay home if something was wrong - I'm sure she'll be fine. They might be crazy but they want their children to be healthy just like anyone else.

I really loathe 90% of what the Duggars do and believe but sometimes I think people just find fault with everything they do to play devil's advocate. Leave the poor girl alone, she's allowed to have the type of delivery she feels comfortable with!

Not what I'd choose for myself, but for a 23 year old woman in good health with a low risk pregnancy, it's fine as long as she has a properly trained midwife and a hospital back up plan.

Not surprised. It'll probably go textbook perfect.
i hope it does go perfectly for everyone's sake, but the choice to go painkiller-free is upping the odds for few momzilla moments. i don't think she'll be super calm, she's too high-strung.

It'll be interesting to see whether childbirth changes her ie if she still says home births are better than epidurals after having actually done it herself rather than just boss someone else around while they do it.

My bet is that she's too committed to it to go back on it now though.

This remnds me of the episode where she and Jana had their wisdom teeth out and Jill was extremely nervy and upset at the prospect, and that was a procedure with proper pain relief and in a medical environment. I just hope she has an easy birth and a proper back up plan just in case of a complication.

She cried and cried and held on to Daddy when she was a grown woman having her wisdom teeth out under anesthetic. She is making another BIG mistake and is doing it because it is family tradition. Oh well....some must learn the hard way.

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

Someone please remind me to buy peanut butter. Seriously, I have been meaning to get some for at least three weeks, and everytime I remember, the shops are already closed!

You know what I hate most about subtle racism? The gaslighting. Stop cosplaying as a nice person and say it with your chest.

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
      This is pure evil
