R.C. Jr. is "Crushed and Heartbroken"—But Why?

Has he finally parted ways with Tool? Or is it someone else in his life who has let him down? I have a feeling that whatever it is, we will hear more about it, because several commenters seem to know exactly what he's talking about.

“Crushed, disappointed and heartbroken. Prayers appreciated for the destructive power of sin.â€

This really makes me curious. Just Friday I saw a post at Spiritual Sounding Board about a Ligonier Ministries cruise coming up. RC Jr was listed as one of the speakers, so it looks like his fairly mainstream father is no longer bothered by Junior's wife beating spanking, patriarchy, and FIC stances. Nor his defrocking.

Senior is considered a solid theologian amongst non-fundie evangelicals, so it's puzzling. E theme of the luxury cruise was "enduring suffering and persecution." No joke.

Personally, I think all of them are a mess.

Yeah, the general public's take on a Caribbean cruise to contemplate enduring suffering and persecution could turn into a publicity hot mess pretty quick.

Unless the ship were to lose power/electricity. That's the real definition of a hot mess.

Ugh, forgive me for the triple post! Mods, could you delete the other two? Thanks!

Wow you were REALLY excited about this news, huh? :wink-kitty: I've deleted the duplicates for you :)

Which is doubtless why, within hours of the story on SSB, the theme was changed to "Persevering in the Christian Life."

RC, Jr also tweeted this update & daughter Darby retweeted it.

RC, Jr. then added this tweet:

Children suffer when adults, because they are bigger and can do so, allow their "I want"s to trump the "I needs" of the children.

Someone on Twitter asked him "Now who fell?" and he replied, "No one 'fell.' But some dear friends are dealing with grievous sin. It's not anyone people know."

Mm-hm.

That could actually be true. I don't know the Sprouls personally, but I've known some who have dealt with the family and my understanding is that Sproul, Jr. and his family have a fairly wide circle of friends centered around churches and groups his family worked with. And most of those folks aren't online personalities or "famous fundies."

“The greatest blessing from the vilest sin is the deepest need for the fullest grace. We repentant who've sinned greatly are greatly forgivenâ€

Well, we all know which “sin†he considers to be the “vilest†(and which he’s the most obsessed with). I’m guessing either some poor kid came out to his parents or some husband got caught watching gay porn.

One of the comments - "Praise God for sin!" Is that a serious comment or one of us?

To me, this implies that a man neglected or abandoned his children for a sexual reason, rather than directly abused them. But because he used the word “vile†in another post, I tend to think he’s referring to something gay. They almost always reserve “vile†and “abomination†for gay stuff.

Eh, I took this to mean something like an affair or divorce. An adult wants out of a marriage, the children suffer.

Maybe someone's daughter is coming out as a lesbian and that someone isn't reacting like R.C. thinks they should be?

Is this a guess or is it a hint, ladymylynn? (I ask because you specifically say "daughter" and "lesbian")

Idle speculation about a young lady with some fresh divorce papers and a striking new haircut.
