I am convinced.... they all are mentally unhinged

From duggar family blog:

The Dillards have already received two car seats that strap to a suitcase from Derick's mom, in case Jill is pregnant with twins.

Every time Michelle announced that she was pregnant she always talked about the possibility of having twins. I get it, she has two sets of twins, but she has 15 singletons! Why are they always expecting it to be twins!! Most people are shocked when they have twins, I think the Duggars are actually disappointed when there is only one baby.

Side note, why does a car seat strap to a suitcase?

It seems Jill has taken a picture every day of her pregnancy, I think she is stuffing her stomach. I have never met a woman who showed in her first trimester. Most women don't tell anyone they're pregnant till 13 weeks and still don't have a pouchy tummy. I started wearing maternity clothes at 18 weeks and was teased because I did not need to be in them.

In last weeks episode all Michelle talked about was "lots and lots" of grand babies and wanting them to live close by.

They are all truly mentally disturbed. Everything is babies, babies, babies. It's great that these babies are wanted, but this obsession is beyond ridiculous.

I have known women who have had post baby infertility. I can only imagine what how mentally damaging that would be to any of these girls.

It's strange that the insanity is inherited by some of the girls of quiverfull; you'd think they'd see the crazy and want small manageable families after raising their siblings. Or at least, want to give their own kids more attention than they got as one of a herd.

Posted

The girls probably wouldn't stop and think about what they might want personally. They are trained from an early age that that their faith comes first, then then their family and their wishes and wants are always dead last.

Their faith requires that they do not limit the number of children they bring forth. Their families expect them to have as many babies as possible. I really don't have much hope for the girls that marry while still in the fundie lifestyle.

To even entertain the thought that spacing babies out would be best for the family is considered an immoral and selfish thought in their world. I thought I was headed straight to hell because I resented the fact my parents kept producing blessings when it was clear they had little interest or resources for the those they already had.

i had those thoughts too! i was old enough (barely) to have been the mom of my youngest siblings. It's so weird but sometimes i get a grandma vibe while taking care of my own two kids. i definitely spoil them like a grandma would. i guess it's from taking on responsibilities of childcare in my early teens, and my next youngest sister and i each had our favorite sib that we pretended were our own babies when they were small. Living dolls, it was kind of fun until they would do things like get into our candy stashes or wreck our cardboard dollhouses, or cry and be whiney to our mom while we were trying to do SOTDRT schoolwork. We did get time to play with the neighbor kids and ride bikes and things like that too, our mom took more care of the littles than Michelle seems to do. And i'm not ancient; mid 30's. But still it is SO WEIRD to see my own kids at these toddler ages with clear memories of my sibs who are now in their early 20's. So yeah, grandma type spoiling going on for my kids. :D Time goes so fast.

I bet Jill is praying for spontaneous triplets. That would scream Dillard spin-off!

I just saw a girl yesterday who is 10 weeks with their first baby and you can already tell she's starting to get a tiny baby bump so it's possible to show early. Now onto the Twin thing. I agree they always act disappointed when it's not twins. well at least Michelle I don't think i've ever heard Anna mention twins.

I'm curious about the car seats that strap to the suitcase. I'm familiar with lots of special straps and things you can use to put an ordinary car seat on your luggage, but not a car seat that is made to hook onto luggage.

Anyway, the reason you'd want to do so is because it's much easier to get through airports that way. It's really best to buy a seat for baby on the plane and take the car seat on board. Carrying a car seat and the baby and whatever else you have for carry-on bags can be a bit of a juggle. Hence, strapping the car seat to the suitcase! The best product we used for that sort of thing was theGoGoKidz TravelMate.

Michelle might have 15 singles, but her second to term pregnant was twins, so she got them pretty early on. Also, sometimes there is a genetic component to twins; maybe her own mother was prone? So if I was in that situation I might think about it too, though being disappointed it's not twins is a bit far.

You know if the goal is to have as many children as possible, and that appears to be the goal, then any multiple would be a huge bonus. She may know already that it is twins.

I did suffer secondary infertility and was not every able to have a second child. I often wonder what that would be like for these girls. It was hard for me, but that is really their only reason to exist, what would THAT be like?

I also had this, although with some assistance, we got #2, took a bit and man the journey was awful.

Anyway, I am sure it would be even worse for one of them considering. But maybe it would open the eyes of the rest of them to those of us that struggle and see that not everyone can just pop them out and might be resentful of them shoving it in our faces. I'm sure whoever in the family was suffering (from any infertility) would feel this way...to be in on that conversation!!

I can forgive Cathy for her part. I think she's genuinely thrilled and happy and loves them both.

The buying two carseats at once is bizarre- it's not that hard to order the same carseat again if you find out you are having twins. So this makes me wonder if they already know something. Maybe Jill's midwife friend heard two heartbeats or something.

Usually fundies buy the bare minimum when it comes to baby supplies. Maybe Kathy reads online and saw how many people have posted about the Duggars not using safe and proper child restraints. Maybe she just wanted to make sure her grandchildren are safe but it definitely makes me go hmmmm.

Two car seats could simply be one for each car. It's a pain in the ass to keep moving it.

Posted

Two carseats could also have been Cathy acknowledging that even if Jill's first baby is only one baby, they'll likely have a second one within a year and a half anyway.

JBsHairspray- I never even thought about that. Duh! I am used to Mom being the only one toting around kids under school age.

Wouldn't the ultrasound show is she's having twins? And why can't she wait until she's further along?

Yup, even the very early 6 week u/s would show 2 (if twins) heartbeats. Generally at your first pregnancy exam they do a "diagnostic" u/s to determine age and health of the baby. Then the next one isn't done until 20 weeks and that u/s is done to check the anatomy and make sure the baby is developing normally and determine if there are any birth defects etc.

Jill has said that she hasn't found out yet if it's twins or not so I think that she didn't have a dating ultrasound done. Anna definitely mentioned at one point that she was hoping the next one would be twins! Wouldn't that be wonderful!

When my son was a baby my SIL and her friends were all cooing over him they all said he was so adorable and all. Then they started talking about when they had their own kids several were hoping that they would have twins. They had just graduated high school when this happened and I laughed because having taken care of one baby the idea of twins terrified me. I can't understand the QF hoping for twins but I can't understand not spacing out your children either.

You're right I forgot about that. wasn't that when marcus was only like 4 months old?

I know we all think that Jill is exaggerating/faking her protruding belly, but assuming she isn't and that she is just bigger than normal, it could be why they suspect twins.

Posted

I don't think she's faking, some women just show sooner than others. I have a friend who showed that earlier, and her figure was somewhat similar to Jill's. She might be sticking her stomach out a little to emphasize it, but I don't think that amounts to faking, just being excited about being pregnant.

She keeps referring to the baby in the singular, so I don't know... something tells me she already knows she's not having twins.

Right. For people so excited about having their first kid, I can't imagine they haven't at least heard the heart beat yet.

Is anyone else a Friends fan? I'm thinking of the episode where the woman Monica and Chandler adopt from gives birth, and she had no idea she was having twins. "The doctor told me he heard two heartbeats. I was thinking 'That's good, mine and the baby's.'"

Loved that episode it was hilarious.

I don't think she's faking as in hiding a pillow under there or something but I do think she's sticking out her belly as far as possible for the pictures. Since Jill is overall so skinny I don't think it's that odd that she has a little bit of a belly. I also googled 13 weeks twin belly pictures and most of those women looked really pregnant not just a little tiny bump like Jill.
