Not quite. She said she in a couple of years, Ben and I could have babies. It gives some hope, but it just sounds more like she's hoping she doesn't have Michelle's super-fertility but not that she's going to try to stop babies.

Am I the only one who doesn't feel sorry for Ben? He's an adult, he's been raised with more freedom than the Duggars, and there is nothing to stop him from not going along with being mistreated! And there was nothing stopping him from getting in his truck and procuring some freaking rubber gloves.

And it disgusts me that this is the kind of man Jessa wants. I would have zero respect for any man who allowed my dad and brother to treat him like that, even if it is all a put-on for the cameras. And I'd have even less respect for said dad and brother. It's not amusing, and none of them are coming out of looking good. Ugh.

I think Jessa's main motivation is getting the hell out of that house. Ben is cute enough. He'll do. Anything to get to have sex and not share a room with children anymore.

I don't know how to take the whole Ben working for JB. I get the feeling that they are testing his patience, since Jessa hates anger. The whole Ben thing was not in a favorable light and it doesn't seem that he is able to support Jessa. With that being said, let the chip fall where they may.

Did anyone else notice the bit where they yet again mention the courting rules and Michelle says something with her crazy bugged out eyes that if there's any monkey business, Ben will have to answer before God and before Jessa's Daddy for it. Yeah, sure, the courting rules are left up to the courting couple. Uh huh....

I think it's also because they want to see his habits and how he goes about life in general. Because Jessa is marrying a big bad male (!) :penguin-no: and daddy Duggar is an all controlling, sick patriarch.

The only thing I have learned about Bin through this is that he is SUPER horny for Jessa. I mean, damn. I hope that sweet, sweet fellowship is worth it.

I don't buy for a second that these girls set the courting rules for themselves. Boob and Mullet TELL them what the rules are and is they want to talk to a boy, they'll follow them or else.

Jill and Derick admitted they rushed their wedding so they could kiss and have sex, and Jill was clearly irritated at having a howler monkey tag along on her birthday date with her fiance. I think she'd have chosen to not have sex before marriage, but she clearly was not impressed with the chaperone arrangements. Jessa and Bin seem to be more 'in lust' than 'in love' and if they actually got to have some physical contact and alone time before marriage, maybe they'd realise that before potentially making a huge mistake.

Oh and I remember wanting to slap Mullet when she was kissing Boob on some double date and taunting Jessa and Bin that they can't do that yet. You were kissing before marriage, so shut up. She was like a 6 year old child holding a cookie and taunting their younger sibling who can't reach the cookie jar to get one of her own.

Yes, I agree. They're both horny as hell. But it doesn't excuse the disgusting behavior. And these are the people who need to instill the right values in Ben???? I'd turn my kid over to monkeys in the wild before I'd let her near the Duggars. She'd have better manners.

I can't excuse any of it and I can't pity Ben. Warning, extreme crudeness ahead: No pussy in the world is worth that kind of humiliation. I'd have to guess that he really, really, really wants to be part of the Duggar famewhore wagon. That's why he's putting up with it. He can find a pretty, conservative virgin fairly easily anywhere to marry if it's just hormones. He's willing to scrub shit stained toilets that haven't been cleaned in months bare handed, willing to be made a fool of because he can't frame a window on the first try when anyone with a brain wouldn't have left someone so inexperienced that he can't use a friggin' tape measure to do so, willing to live in a literal death trap, etc, etc just to get his 15 minutes. Fuck that. He deserves what he gets.

I think Bin thinks he is in love with her, but he's actually in lust with her. Since these fundies don't actually get to explore normal relationships, they struggle to tell the difference between love and lust because they're not allowed to acknowledge lust as a thing. Bin thinks he is putting up with it for the 'woman he loves', but really, he really just wants to get laid by this girl in particular and is infatuated with this pretty, cute, famous, slightly older girl.

That's why I sort of feel sorry for him. He's grown up in such a bubble he can't tell the difference between loving a girl and wanting to sleep with her because she's really pretty and he's a little in awe of her. Because he THINKS he's in love, he can't step back and realise there are other pretty fundie virgins out there with less awful families who wouldn't be so shitty to him.

It doesn't help that the Duggars are fundie royalty. His parents could well be encouraging him to do whatever he has to do to make it to the altar so they can say they have a son who married the (arguably) prettiest Duggar girl. It makes me Fundie royalty by association!

I don't know if she realized at that point how soon Jim Bob would let them marry. Let's just say they were forced to wait another three months so they got married in February. Then let's assume it took Jessa a few months to become pregnant (which was Anna's experience and Jill isn't knocked up yet so Jessa could be going off that) so she gets pregnant in May. She would have a baby in February, which assuming this was filmed in May 2014 is only a few months off from being a couple years. I still think it wasn't until Ben's father put that thing up about marrying young and started publically attacking Jim Bob's choice that Jim Bob finally approved Ben.

I kinda think that Ben kinda loves his fame side. I think he wouldn't know he had to go through all this just to get laid.

Wouldn't ben use a measuring stick in his "business" repairing windshields? John David making fun of Ben and both him and Jim making fun of Ben's parents parenting skills. I hope the seawaulds watched and Ben's dad makes another blog post about Jims parenting skills.

The Seewalds don't seem to be famewhores though. I don't think they care about hooking up their kids with Fundie Royalty. If so, consider one of their daughters for Josiah (when he's back from Alert Brainbleaching camp) or Joseph.

When Guinn went to Erin Bateseses wedding with them she seemed quite happy enough with the set up......she looked a little more uncomfortable at the Mothers Day lunch.

I'd be mortified if I saw my son being treated like a skivvy for his g/f's family.

Count me in among those who don't feel at all sorry for Ben, because a)he's an asshole, b)he's an adult who's willing to go to ridiculous lengths to marry a Duggar, and c)all this "hazing" it probably scripted because the Duggar boys have to live up to their "jokesters" reputations. I'm sure before the cameras start rolling there's a little chat about what stupid, embarrassing thing they're going to do to Ben. I'm inclined to feel a bit sorry for his parents, because even knowing that their son agreed to looking like a fool for the cameras I'm sure they hate it. But then they raised and enabled that fanatic, so my sympathy is limited.

And, yeah, Ben is horny as fuck and he clearly went to the Duggar church precisely in the hopes of landing the hot Duggar. And Jessa's clearly into him as well, which is good, of course, but I'm enough of a jerk to be highly amused by the possibility that as horny and attracted to each as they are they might turn out to be completely incompatible sexually. Because desire and compatibility are two different things, and I'm all for whatever takes those smug assholes down a peg or ten.

This is my take as well. The thing about being so sheltered is you don't know what you don't know. Ben could be a jerk-he does strike me as a bit arrogant. But they haven't had all the usual life knock-downs that most have as kids. Young kids tend to believe their parents when they say they are the greatest things since sliced bread. It's the rest of the world that tells them otherwise, and if they never get to meet the rest of the world, where do they learn that? Ben's parents now-I would never allow my son to go through all this. There are a lot of perfectly nice girls in this world and nobody needs that. They (the Duggars) say they value male leadership and all, but they are putting him through a process that is humiliating and controlling. His conformity to it is the exact opposite of what they say they want in a husband for their daughter! If he had any kind of a spine he'd quit trying to be Mr. Nice Boy and set some of his own rules. Wouldn't that be the leadership quality they SAY they value so highly?

That was the only time I ever wound up in the ER where I hoped I would wait a little while because I wanted to see the rest of the show.

 Now that's saying something, eh?

I don't understand all the people who watch this show and think this family is great. They disgust me more and more with each episode. Yeah, Ben is an idiot and I don't really feel bad for him... but the way the Duggars are treating him is appalling, even if he is willingly going along with it. I truly think Boob and J'chelle are terrible people... and it's almost like they're not even trying to hide it anymore.

Jill is knocked up and due the end of March. I think Jessa should be terrified she'll have a baby immediately, especially given Ben's activity with pro life stuff. He's gonna want a baby to go with his dogma.

I am still disgusted how Ben was treated last night.

But at the end I did like John David saying good things about him. He didn't have to do that but he did. So gets points from me. But I Do wonder what is happening behind the scenes because why are they not posting any more?

I think Ben Loves his fame side - he was playing to the camera last night....

as for the measuring tape, you are right about him having him to use it before.....

I understand all the jumping through hoops thing now better - But what I didn't like was Jessa said it's up to her dad - that bugged me because she is 21.... it just bothered me to no end

Did anyone else hear Jessa say, "In a couple of years when Ben and I have babies"? A couple of years? Really, I hope so. Go jessa

Dear Jessa: There are birth control methods that can remain between you and your doctor. I encourage you to investigate them, choose one and use it until you and your husband can actually afford to have children.

In the meantime, Michelle's GRANDBABY RABIES were unbelievable. I was shouting back at the TV: "You didn't even raise your own babies! When the hell are you planning on doing 'nap duty' when you don't bother with your own kids?" Does J-Chelle have any idea at all that anyone who can do a 30 second Google search knows that she tasked her four eldest daughters with raising her kids, she can't be left alone with more than one without help, and her nose should grow like Pinocchio's when she tells such a blatant lie? Seriously: Is she delusional?

Speaking of affording things, perhaps someone could explain this one to me. Doesn't Mr.Seewald own a manufactured home business? Why on EARTH wasn't Ben encouraged to go to work for his own father? Even if manufactured homes aren't his heart's desire (I think Ben believes he's going into politics) he'd get some practical job training and leave school with a chance to make more than a fast-food fry cook. I'm not Ben's biggest fan, but last night's episode left me with a bad feeling in my stomach. Jim Boob's a bully. JD is cut from the same bolt of cloth. Derick's family is not going to put up with Jim Boob's BS, and the only reason Derick is dealing with him right now is because he doesn't want Jill to be unhappy. Ben's getting the brunt of the Duggar bullying/power tripping. Nice of Jim Boob to make him the brunt of the family jokes for the next season at the least.

I'm sure there is no local code enforcement in Jim Boob and J-Chelle's little slice o' heaven, but I would laugh my ass off if the Tontitown city government decided to pay a visit to the "guest house" and cited Jim for unsafe housing and every other code violation re: improper ventilation, no ingress/egress from that room, etcetera, after viewing last night's episode. If I were the Seewalds, I'd be a) seething with fury and b) visiting as fast as the car could get there with working CO2 detectors at the least.

I encourage anyone to write a email to city of where they live and blow the whistle on them :D

or provide an email address so we can :D

I'm not sure why everyone's being so hard on JimBob. He was nice enough to let Ben move onto his property AND give him a job. He is helping him get closer to marrying Jessa. Sorry that work around the house includes cleaning toilets. The other thing he was doing (windows) was for his own room which at least is an improvement over the blankets Jessa stapled over the holes in the wall.

My point is, I don't think Jim Bob is being that bad of a guy. He is encouraging of their relationship (which is weird because quite frankly Bin doesn't even have a career path or way to support Jessa).

Anyways, I also feel like the Seewald family is kind of fame-whoring. They made the blog right after they started appearing on the show, and an instragram... you can tell they really want to be in the spotlight. They also show up in a few episodes and wear skirts to be more like the Duggars. They obviously want a piece of the pie!!!!!

I hate these winds. They are absolutely HOWLING here in SoCal. Not sure I'll be able to sleep tonight because I'm so afraid we'll get sudden evacuation orders the way we did with the Woolsey fire in 2018. There's no way of knowing when and where a fire might crop up and once it does, there's no containing it in these winds. I'm praying for the safety of our brave firefighters. My heart is with everyone in the Pacific Palisades and in Eaton Canyon near Pasadena.

      Winter snack: crispy chickpeas
Preheat oven to 400 F. Drain and rinse a can of chickpeas, then toss in olive oil and whatever spices you like. I use fried chili crisp. Cook for 15 minutes, stir, another 15 minutes, stir, repeat until they're crispy and delicious. Good as a snack, on salads, etc.
I am sharing my super secret chili crisp source just because I love you guys:

Happy New Year, all you amazing people! I just saw a (possibly joking) tradition online called Yule Boasting.

      My quick text version:
i will begin 2025 by distilling a barrel full of tequila from the agave plants in my yard, assisted by george clooney, who admires me greatly and will be sad and heartbroken when my plan moves ahead without further human assistance.
sky-clad, i will find my familiar, a malevolently clever curve-billed thrasher named Willie Wildman. together we will roam my neighborhood, putting together an animal army consisting of a coyote pack, a squadron of javelinas, and my local great horned owl pair, perseverance and ingenuity.
we will all consume mass quantities of tequila, paint our faces blue, and set out on yucca broomsticks to reach our nation's capitol.
we will swoop down on DC, screaming and howling, occupying first the capitol and then the white house, where we will become co-presidents and replace congress with the yacht-sinking orcas of the mediterranean. AND EVERYONE WILL FUCKING REJOICE.
