I am wondering if Erin and Chad will how up at the Duggar/Seewald wedding since it seems to be set the day before the Paine's first wedding anniversary.

Jessa finally Instagramed shots of her ring. Solitaire with a twist - the stone is turned at an angle. Pretty though.

Is it me or do fundie engagement rings seem to exclusively be either a solitaire or a three stone? I can't think of anybody who strayed from that... I suppose I could be cynical and say it's because of the price, what fundie dude can afford a Verragio or Ritani or something blingy?

I wonder if the women have any say in it, or if any of the guys ask what they like and what they want.

Solitaires don't go out of style as quickly as some of the other designs. That could be part of it.

Is Jessa's Ring bigger then Jill's?

Yes. Jill's is .63 carats and Jessa's is .75 carats. Then again, Jill's wasn't bought with money earned from working for her daddy.

I thought so but wasn't sure it is messed up that Jill who's husband has an actual job got the smaller ring then her sister who's fiancee is basically jobless.

Maybe Ben had some money saved before he moved in, or it could have been a family ring he offered Jessa.

I've also noticed where a lot of fundie lads propose with a solitaire. Maybe because it's meant to be a surprise, they figure they can't mess up by choosing a diamond in a gold setting. But as we've all seen, engagement and wedding ring tastes can be pretty diverse. It would be so much better if these guys would ask their fiancées first what they liked in a ring.

I'm sure I remember some fundie talking about ring shopping with their husband-to-be. I can't for the life of me remember who it was, though. Possibly one of the Bateses?

Well luckily for Derick, Jill strikes me as someone who'd appreciate the sentiment of him going to Israel (one of her favorite places to visit) and custom designing a modest but pretty ring which he brought with his own money over a flashier ring any day. I know I would.

Jessa? I think she's totally gloating over how she got the "bigger" ring from her unemployed fiancé. It doesn't look like a family ring to me. And if my future husband used up his savings to get me a fancy ring when he could have used that money for say, a down payment for our own house, then I'd seriously consider why I would marry him in the first place. All this means is that if Jim Bob didn't basically give Ben his "allowance money" to buy the ring, then he likely got it comped from a jewelry store. Which, I guess there's nothing wrong with that if you're broke and out of options but I also wouldn't go flaunting my .75 carat! ring everywhere talking about how proud I am of my man. But this is Jessa we're talking about so....

edited: because Israel isn't a city, d'uh!

I wonder if they will discuss where that ring came from when they air the engagement. I agree I'd rather have the cheaper ring I knew could be afforded over a ring that might have taken a giant chunk of saving.

Now that Jessa and Ben are engaged, does that mean the group messaging with Ma & Pa Duggar is no longer required? The picture of the messages from him on her Instagram only include his name. So holding hands and private messaging is what they get out of engagements, I guess.

Jill's ring could have been more expensive or better quality, even if it's a little smaller. I don't care for the offset setting of Jessa's ring but it's not ugly. I think it was a little silly to post a video of the ring, lol. Is a picture not sufficient?

Of course not she has to show all the sides of it. I disagree 100% with people that think Jessa Blessa doesn't like the spotlight.

I thought they were allowed private messages for a while now, even before they got engaged? There's photos of their texts pre-engagement that Jessa posted (because of course she would) that also looked to be private conversations between just her and Ben. I think Jill mentioned it in an interview too, how she sometimes included her parents in her conversations with Derick, but that for the most part, her parents didn't monitor every single text or phone call from him.

I just went and looked, you're right. Maybe it was only during the pre-courtship/early getting to know you phase.

As a commenter pointed out, no group text! Can they text individually after they get engaged? What about accountability partners? What if they sext?

ETA: Oops didn't realize someone already brought this up.

And the sparkle doesn't get captured in a photo, really. Especially when a blue manicure brings out the blue sparkles. :D

My fundie in-laws cloned their phones so that they get ALL of each other's texts and can go on their joint Facebook account at whom

They have zero privacy.

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

Someone please remind me to buy peanut butter. Seriously, I have been meaning to get some for at least three weeks, and everytime I remember, the shops are already closed!

You know what I hate most about subtle racism? The gaslighting. Stop cosplaying as a nice person and say it with your chest.

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
      This is pure evil
