I cannot understand what Josie says

Josie has also had grommets which means she has been having problems with her ears (glue ear?). This can set language development back. I don't know how bad her hearing was or whether her language is behind - this is just an observation.

Glue ear certainly set my son back a long way. He parroted what he heard but as he didn't hear entire sentences and heard words incorrectly, he had very strange speech which we understood but no one else did.

My youngest sister was 12 weeks early and her speech was delayed. No one outside of my immediate family really understood her until she was in kindergarten. She did have some speech therapy in K and 1st and seemed to get back on track. Thank goodness she was in public school and got the help she needed!

I wonder if Michelle even notices that Josie is delayed? My mom never did with my younger sibs. I was 16 when the youngest was born and after spending 8 weeks in the hosptial- her crib was put in the Big Girls room in our house. My mom was going through a rough time- so she put her baby on a heart monitor in the room with her 3 teenaged daughters. The monitor would go off a few times a week and we even had the paramedics come several times when she stopped breathing.

At the time it didn't seem that weird to me, but I look back now and realize how messed up that was.

I understand her usually, but I have a toddler, so I'm used to translating into English, LOL. She probably talks as well as a 3 year old.

I'm really sorry you had to go through that. It must have been very stressful to have to worry about and care for a very fragile baby.

I really don't think Josie seems delayed, but it would be very difficult to tell off of the little bits we see in any case.

It must be very strange to be a child on a reality show. The bubbly, articulate, extroverted kids who interview well are shown all the time - Jill, Hannie, Josh, Mackenzie, Jackson, Josiah and Joy ( before they became awkward teens) etc..

And I've always kind of assumed the ones they don't feature as often-- Jana, John David, Joe, Jenny-- weren't featured because they are introverted and don't want to be filmed constantly.

But what if some of the kids who are featured actually Hate the whole thing-- they just happen to be good at it. And maybe some of the ones who seem invisible actually would love to be featured more-- they just don't come across well on camera. That would really suck.

i haven't seen any recent episodes to see for myself, but there are many, many issues and delays that can come up for preemies, speech being one of them. i process records requests for a children's hospital, and i go through so many of them. actually, from what i've understood of her development, she seems extremely lucky that she doesn't appear to have many issues. i've processed records for three month olds that were 400+ pages (not counting facesheets and consents and extraneous stuff that we don't send).
