ISIS--Coming Soon to a City Near You!

French security forces stopped last week two Muslim girls aged 15 and 17 who planned a terrorist attack in the great Synagogue in Lyon in cooperation with the terrorist organization ISIS. The two were taken by police to investigation in Paris and were formally accused of taking part in a terror organization.

Security sources in France said that the two girls contacted each other on internet social sites and expressed their desire to "die as martyrs". They were part of a Muslim youth organization that was being followed by security forces because they planned to volunteer for Jihad under ISIS. An additional girl aged 14 years was arrested in her house in the city Kamper (sorry, this is probably spelled wrong) in western France and she was also accused of taking part in a terror organization. This came after she completed her plan to go to Syria by way of Turkey. They girls shocked parents only discovered that she had converted to Islam after the French security forces informed them.

In July a 14 year old girl disappeared from the city of Arjentee (sorry, probably spelled wrong) in Southern France and she sent to her parents pictures that show that she is active in Jihad activities in Syria and she "married" on of the "warriors". The children tend to go by cheap bus to Turkey and from there they go to the Syrian border. According to the security force's information, most of the minor girls who go to join the Jihad in Syria do go through the beginnings of military training, but afterward are used as sexual slaves and housekeepers for the male fighters.

The French security forces are increasing their investigations of people going to Syria -- about 400 French people are fighting there and about 400 more are on their way. After they return, they carry out terrorist acts, such as the terrorist Mahadi Nemush (probably spelled wrong) who carried out the murderous act of terrorism in the Jewish museum in Brisal (probably spelled wrong).

The misspellings are my fault; I suck at French. Maybe marianne can figure out what it's supposed to be?

Is there nothing in France that these children could do instead of being sex slaves and suicide bombers for a Muslim terror organization? I'm sure some of them grew up as extremist Muslims and would have done it anyway, but it sounds like some of them are drawn toward doing something... military? meaningful? so they convert to unfortunately the wrong thing. It's a shame they couldn't join the French army, or ROTC program, or even f*cking ALERT.

I want to add "Good job!" to the French security forces for catching this, and keep up the good work.

I blame the Internet. Particularly social media. I think some pretty extraordinarily good things have come from its use--- marriage equality being advanced so rapidly for example.

But overall, it seems like a way for people to find others who validate their ideas -- even if those ideas are incredibly scary. I think teens are particularly vulnerable to this kind of extremism. I think in general, a certain type of curious, passionate and judgemental kid always have been- but without the Internet it's just a random teen ranting about the evils of x y and z, while their family and friends roll their eyes and ignore them. You take that same passionate teen and give them the ability to find others like them and their ideas will not only become muchhhh more intense, but now they have multiple people telling them they are right. And they all feed into whatever ideal they share and goad each other into greater and greater extremism.

Your translation is good, it's what I've read also. For the city, it's "Argentan" and "Bruxelle." the terrorist is "Mehdi Nemmouche". He planned to make a terrorist attack on Paris in the 14th of July, I've read today. He tortured a lot of people when he was in Syria.

ooooh, I'm not sure they grew up as extremist muslims. Our school system sucks. They come out of school with no qualifications, lived from drug trafficking, are converted and under the cultish influence of terrorist group.

They could have join the French army (and be killed by Mohammed Merah ? Who kill two muslims soldiers before killing jewish children). But they did not. There's no christian organisation to take them in charge (France is an atheist country), and the terrorist saw it, and used it.

Wow, Marianne, from your description, it really struck me how similar it is to gangs. With kids joining for the same reasons - and being so young there is very little thought to the actual consequences, and they are so easily swayed to go in any direction at 14 or 15. Old enough to perform adult actions-- but much too young to understand those adult actions.

When I was that age I ran around with the criminal crowd-- and instead of thinking " wow, these guys doing x y and z felonies for a living are probably not going to end up with a stable future" all I thought was " my, these guys are hot, look at the letters with the pretty drawings my man sent me from juvie."

Obviously they weren't terrorist level, blow up innocent civilians, level of awful -- but they all did things that I really should have known were wrong and stupid- but my teenage brain just saw the drama, and being young and stupid, liked it.

Yep, it's a gang.

I just heard on the radio that the French man, who was recruiting young French to go for jihad in the countries concerned, have been arrested ! One good news !

I've also heard that the two young girls don't come from religious family at all, the parents are very worried and don't understand what's happening.

I saw on my news, in the U.S., that their was also this young woman, who was from a Non- Muslim family, who wanted to run away and join ISIS . She seems very mentally unstable. This particular young woman reminds me of the Manson Family type, or the women who write the most infamous serial killers in prison, wanting to marry them. There does always seem to be a certain type who is drawn to whatever is most violent and out-there at the time.

There have been counterterror raids going on here in sydney this morning, not in my neighborhood but two neighborhoods I have lived in as well as some nearby neighborhoods. A Lebanese Christian church was threatened yesterday. Some men in a car flying the ISIS flag were threatening to kill Christians and slaughter their children. I have a friend whose family goes to that church.

There was allegedly a plot to behead a random person in the city and drape their body with the ISIS flag. I am still in shock. I can't believe that this could have happened here in Sydney.

Here's a link about it:

http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2014-09-1 ... id/5754276

I can't believe it either... beheading someone doesn't solve anything OR prove a point...

There's been 3 bomb threats in Melbourne in the last week... It's a bit scary and a bit hard to tell if people are paranoid in regards to these bombs or if we should be scared?

Just being scared doesn't help anything either, but it's not being paranoid when actual threats are being made. I think it would be good to be more alert and aware of your surroundings, but don't stop doing fun things.

Scaring you is a part of their tactics. Continue to live without being paranoid is a form of "resistance".

For French speaking people, the magazine "Courrier International" translate a very good article from the "Now" magazine in Beirut, about life in the Islamic State.

They have a REAL plan to indoctrinate children. The title of the article is "For the kids, ice cream, slides, and doctrine." Small translation : there is testimony of a child who survived an ISIS training camp: "He and his friends attended barbaric punishments: crucifixions, stonings (...) recreational days are organized for children with ice cream and slides "" the long-term goal (...) is to create a new generation supporting the cause of the new caliphate through indoctrination and mind control. "

On the other side :

Is the Islamist threat in Europe overrated ? A study of Europol, the Office of Intergovernmental policy of the European Union, taken by The Express.fr, shows that on the 294 attacks occurred in Europe in 2009, only one was attributed to Islamic terrorists, in Italy .

The vast majority of other attacks - 237 of 294 - was attributed to separatist movements, mainly in Spain and France. The rest is divided between anarchist movements (40 attacks) and facist (4 attacks).

"European counterterrorism officials still continue to see the Islamist threat as the biggest terrorist threats, says L'Express.fr, a reason for this : they find that, unlike the separatists, who attack the more often the state officials, radicals Muslim want to hurt the more civilian victims as possible and attacks blindly. "

I think their motivation for commiting an act of terror here in Australia is to show us that they are here and to instill fear into us in our home. I imagine that the fear it would create would be far beyond anything Australia has experienced in recent memory. They also hate the Australian government and Australian culture. I can wrap my head around what they may be motivated by, but it's srill shocking. What actually is hard for me to understand is how someone can experience the way of life and the peace and freedom here, and want to trade it in for a life of violence.

I agree that it's scary but I'm proud of the way that Australians aren't reacting hysterically. It has made me realize that I need to continue to live my life happily. But the day of the raids and the day after, I felt scared to go into the city. However, I do feel that it's important for me to be aware that there may still be a threat here and not do anything unnecessarily dangerous.

I would bet every cent I have that most of those women came from somewhere that either was ubstable or became so -- even those from France and the one from Scotland might have had that kind of reasom.

They went looking for something bigger than themselves; something poweful. And then ISIS got them. And then it was too late.

Mix instability with political fervour and firearms or explosives (along with what they believe is a just reason for using them) and one can practically guarantee this.

ISIS is currently holding up the busiest street in Sydney, Australia - Martin Place.

They have several hostages inside the locked Lindt Cafe on Martin Place. This terror plot was revealed earlier in the year during a court hearing, where ISIS said they plan to behead someone in a very public place.

It is terrible to see this unfold and the staff have been forced to display the ISIS flag on the front window.

The reports that I'm reading are saying that it is NOT the ISIS flag but a shahadah flag.

The whole thing is horrible. Thoughts and prayers for a safe ending.

I am curious to know if Mr. Abbott would call if he thought it would help the situation. No update on whether he has spoken to the extremist or if an ISIS flag has been delivered. The news has been on 4 channels for hours now and they are just rehashing the same footage of the 5 people who escaped.

Just watched the recent news conference and not much being reported, frankly. They are keeping it very vague. The authorities have been in contact with the gunman, but no idea exactly what that entails. I read on twitter that a witness saw the gunman with two others before going into the cafe. Have no idea if that is true or not. Also, I read that a video has been sent to the media, but not released at the request of the authorities.

The crisis is now over, as police entered the cafe. 2 hostages were killed, along with the gunman.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/12/15/world/asi ... ?hpt=hp_t1

The emerging picture (and it is still very early) is of a man with a criminal past who self-radicalized and identified with ISIS. Among other things, he had been charged in 2013 with being an accessory to the murder of his ex-wife.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/12/15/world/asi ... index.html

In other ISIS news, they have published a pamphlet with FAQs on exactly when it is permissible to rape your infidel sex slaves, including those that haven't reached puberty:

http://www.cnn.com/2014/12/12/world/mea ... le-slaves/

I can't imagine how terrifying it would be to be a Yazidi now, knowing exactly what these monsters have planned for the women and girls they capture.

This stuff is also serving as bait to recruit every misogynistic sociopath out there.

The hostage taker was also on bail for 40 sexual offences. His ex wife was found burning in housing comission flats last year. Unfortunately in Australia, our justice system is a joke. This person should have NEVER been out on bail.

Personally, I am proud of the way the general community have responded with the #illridewithyou Twitter hashtag. A young woman on public transport yesterday witnessed a Moslem woman being hassled as she was wearing a hijab, so everyone has banded together to show the wider Moslem community we know they are not all responsible for the awful events of yesterday. People were saying "If you catch the 903 bus to Cronulla and need someone to sit with #illridewithyou". Although everyones heartfelt sympathies are with the released hostages, and particularly the families of the two who lost their lives, allowing idiots to take advantage of the situation to attack innocent, peaceful Islamic people isn't how we roll.

The police in contact with the gunman were refusing to release details of his demands, which is why he asked hostages to go on social media and publicise them. Some were removed as the police were monitoring Facebook, Twitter etc.

IMHO the police handled the situation well. They appeared calm, advising people to go about their daily business etc, as opposed to the salivating of the media - the media disgust me.

The twitter hashtag is a good thing, it's really lovely.

Unfortunately some people believe all Muslims are bad which is NOT the case at all, it is only a really small minority of extremists that are bad.

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
      This is pure evil
