Duggar's are keynote speakers at a university - say whaa?

The Duggars are speaking at a booster banquet for a university in my hometown.

It's a Baptist University and I know the honor code prohibits cohabitation, drinking alcohol, sex before marriage, homosexuality, and dancing. One of my friends even got fined for dancing on campus and another student was expelled for being gay.

Here's the link incase anyone lives close enough and wants to see what the hell they'll be talking about. I'll be home from college but I won't be spending $50+ to get a ticket.

The Duggars at a university? Surely this will give the children dangerous ideas ?? They'll be wanting higher education next, for goodness' sake!

Whatever are Boob and Shelley thinking? :?

So the Duggars are against higher education at a public university, and yet they'll gladly accept money to speak at an event there.

Makes cents to me!

Well they hold the same position when it comes to TV so there shouldn't be any surprises there.

Wasn't there an episode where JB and Michelle spoke to a journalism or communications class at the U of Arkansas, a public secular university?

Yeah, the hypocrisy is breathtaking

So should we expect something along the line of the family giving their testimony, the kids playing some sort of instrument, and being told their current lifestyle is wrong.

Ugh. That would make me seriously angry if my uni invited these anti-education idiots to speak to students who just by choosing to go to uni were showing themselves a cut above the Duggars. That said, there was a journalism class (not sure at which uni -- the video is on youtube) that had Shirley and her daughters from Westboro Baptist. Maybe I'm viewing this wrong, but having WBC guests could teach students something about dealing with hostile and radical groups. The Duggars are much more evasive -- they'll pretend they're less crazy and radical than they are. And, yes, the uni the OP posted about is Christian, so may be more biased in their favor, but still... their only claim to fame is having too many children. They haven't contributed anything to justice, the fight against poverty, the arts, theology... any of the things I'd want to see held up as inspiration for students at my Christian uni.

What attention whores! They won't watch TV, but they make their living off a TV show about themselves. And they go to schools to speak and parade themselves, but yet they don't believe in education.

50 dollars a ticket. I wonder if they have an agent who sets them up with speaking engagements. I wonder how many root beer floats that will buy for the guests at jessa and bennys wedding.

That's just brilliant. The Duggars are going to wax on about how important education is? That is one enormous joke.

At least someone like Oprah or Bill Gates, who didn't go to or finish college, actually support educational endeavors and opportunities. The Duggars have not done one whit towards that.

That CollegePlus crap looks so cool next to an actual diploma.

There is no way I would spend $50 to see the Duggars talk about staying wholesome in college. Especially when that is something they have never experienced, and don't know anything about.

What will they talk about? Don't go to school, school is evil and a waste of time. Women don't need educations. Just let God provide and open car lots and rental properties. Plus get off birth control and have lots of babies. Leave it up to god. You don't need a degree or career. There's college plus.

Probably about the Bible being the center of their lives, how to do crap debt free, living in financial freedom and JB getting reminiscent of his Arkansas House of Representative years. That should take up 30 minutes, right? For $150 you can get your photo taken with them! They're talking at a booster banquet, which is staff and parents and community/church windbags, i guess.

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

Someone please remind me to buy peanut butter. Seriously, I have been meaning to get some for at least three weeks, and everytime I remember, the shops are already closed!

You know what I hate most about subtle racism? The gaslighting. Stop cosplaying as a nice person and say it with your chest.

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
      This is pure evil
