The other children

Everyone has been talking about Jessa and Jill lately, and I wonder how the other children feel about it. Jana is the oldest daughter and she still hasn't been in a courtship. Joy-less Anna and Jinger are probably super happy because they know that in a year or two they will be just like Jill and Jessa. What I'm worried about is the howlers and the lost girls. Jill will be all that jim bob and Michelle talk about. In their eyes Jill is the fundie daughter that they dreamed of. Married and Pregnant in a month. If they younger kids weren't cared about before they most definitely aren't now. Plus, their sister moms are slowly leaving. They have to marry Jana off someday, and Jinger and Joy won't be far behind. The older boys will be gone too. Jeremiah and Jedidiah seem like good brothers but they sure as hell won't cook or clean. So who is going to do all of the work? Not Michelle, not Jim, not the boys, it will be left to the lost girls to do it. If we expect 1-2 marraiges a year they will be around ten when they are left to do the work. They will be so neglected, because jim and Michelle are going to try to keep up with their 101 grandkids.

I don't know that Jim Bob and Michelle are in a rush to marry off Jana and Jinger. I definitely don't think Joy should be expecting to marry anytime soon. My guess is that they will start working on marrying off the older boys. I think Josiah stands a good chance at being able to snag a bride since he's outgoing and well spoken. And eventually I think JD will find the right girl for him since he does appear to be a hard worker. Same with Joseph. I think Jinger will probably marry around the same time as some of them. They can't leave Jana and Joy to cook for all those siblings including a lot of twenty-something brothers.

Once the oldest kids besides Jana are married off and Joy is old enough to be able to handle the bulk of the cooking/cleaning with the little girls old enough to help then Jana will finally be married off if possible. If not they might keep her around to help out around the house or she might marry a widower or something. I think Joy won't marry until all the boys older then her have married and that Hannie is a teenager, which is only four years away.

My bet is that once the oldest kids are married off they'll start working on the Howlers starting their own businesses and finding brides. This will probably take awhile and only after some of them are out of the house will Hannie be allowed to marry. I also think that the Duggars will leave one daughter unmarried either Jana or one of the Lost Girls (but not Hannie) to care for the house and them in their old age. I also wouldn't be surprised if there are a few Duggar boys that never marry and a few children who rebel but I think what I've just suggested would be the Duggars' ideal way things would happen.

How the other children feel about the weddings and babies I think it's mixed. I think Josh and Anna are a little jealous since they've held the spotlight for awhile and both enjoy it. I think Jana is probably hoping that her time will come but genuinely happy for her sisters because she seems like the sort of person who would be happy for people. I bet Jinger just wants to get out of the house. The older boys (JD, Joseph and Josiah) could care less. The Howlers are excited because they've been taught that these things are really exciting. I bet Joy is anxious about all the extra work she's going to have to take on in the coming year. And the Lost Girls are upset that their beloved sisters and in some cases buddies are going away.

Jichelle will only 'keep up' with the grandkids who are under a year old. She won't even remember their names once they're no longer babies.

I think Jinger does want to be out of the house but it's hard to say how she feels about courting. So far she seems to have been one of the more close-mouthed about that subject, but then Jessa was similarly noncommittal and she's one of the first to get paired off. I think right now Jinger is trying to be very supportive but she also seems like the one who will be hit the hardest when Jessa moves in with her future husband. They've been best friends their whole lives and now that is going to change because they'll have a different status in the family. I hope for Jinger's sake that Jessa lives nearby at least for a little while, so it won't be such a hard transition. In the 'Jessa starts a courtship!' episode, at one point Jinger says 'well, I was just crying awhile ago, so I'm not going to cry now!' I think she's really going to miss her sisters. Maybe she will eventually feel happy and excited because she might soon enter a courtship, but right now she's probably more preoccupied and sad about losing her sisters' everyday presence in her life.

I agree with a lot of this but I think Jana may be before Jinger. Marry her off before she becomes like the eldest Maxwell daughter.

I also think that in their twilight years they may give the TTH to Josh or Jill or whoever has a truly ridiculous number of kids. They'll pack up the bus and split their time between the kids and making sure they stay on the fundie path. If all the girls marry and all the boys either marry or leave home then it would be under 3 weeks a year with each kid.

I think Boob will try to marry off some of his sons just to do something a little different. JD seems like he could be in the courtship phase. Josh remarked in an earlier episode that he thought Josiah would be the next to marry. (and after all the ALERT training, they would probably want to throw him into husband mode right away) I literally don't know anything about Joseph, he's never on.

If all the girls marry and all the boys either marry or leave home then it would be under 3 weeks a year with each kid.

My thought was also that one of the kids would inherit the house, but in my imagination I figured the parents would continue to live there, probably moving into the rooms that JL and Mary shared. If that hurts Boob's pride too much, though, maybe that little suite would become the 'parent' bedroom (though it would be less convenient since the master room actually has room for baby and baby's stuff, and I don't know we've ever seen the ~servant~ quarters behind the laundry room, but I doubt it's a very large space). If all their children stay on their land (which I think JB and Michelle are still REALLY hoping for, and that only a couple of those families will move to greener pastures), they wouldn't really need to move off. So far they've been pretty talented at coercing the new husbands of their daughters to move closer to them, whereas Anna had to move hundreds of miles from her family to marry Josh.

Of course, then their priority over grandkids would be whichever ones live in the house with them. But I've never seen anything from them that would indicate they might feel bad or have a problem with that. They know some of their kids WAY better than others, and that doesn't seem to be an issue in their minds. I'm sure that would go right along with grandkids. The main thing would be finding the adult child who'd be least irritated by JB trying to control how they raise their kids, which would mean someone like Josh or perhaps Jill (though her marriage is still so brand spanking new that I don't think her pregnancy is any definitive proof of how the rest of her life will pan out) who has already made a name for themselves by following the same life. So maybe in another 20 years when JB and Michelle are pushing 70 and all their children are adults, the show will resurrect itself with a whole 'remember the Duggar family? They've just entered a new season of life!' and future fundies can coo over how Godly they've trained their children to be, that they take care of their parents in their old age.

I see JD pulling a Zach Bates and marry a woman who isn't fundie but willing to adapt to some of the fundie lifestyle. The same goes for Joseph.

Joy has grown into a very pretty young lady. In a few more years, she will be the undie trophy wife material The young fundie men probably have her on their radar already. Having said that, I hope she escapes.

Jana is probably deliberately avoiding marriage. I don't thing she relishes the idea of raising a huge passel of kids. She has practically raised a lot of her younger siblings, and doesn't want to do it all over again.

Jinger, I think, will be the last of the older Duggars to get married. Somebody will have to stay behind and raise the little ones.

Josiah...well...umm....I just don't know. I think a good match for him would be Carlin Bates in a few years. Then again, I could see him escaping.

As for the howlers and lost girls, way too early to speculate, but I think Hannie will be another beautiful Duggar daughter. Jason, James, and Justin may turn out to be the most handsome of all the Duggar sons. But, again, it's hard to tell at this point since they are still young.

How old is Josiah? And I think JB wants to marry off the boys for ratings. I can't see jana getting married now. They depend on her way to much and she would probably feel guilty for leaving her siblings. She's 25 next year. In fundie world that's old. My bet is joy Anna leaving on her 18th birthday next year.

Josiah turns 18 in six days. I feel like the fact that Josh gave his name as the next to marry means that they might already be looking for a potential partner for him although Josiah may end up working at headquarters, which would delay a courtship but also put him in contact with unmarried ATI girls. I just don't see Josiah towing cars or running a car lot.

While Jana might be getting up in age as far as fundies I think she's just too helpful at home and having one SAHD who is at home long past even thirty won't look nearly as bad as all your daughter's being SAHDs. Especially since Jana would give out the typical BS that she's waiting for her prince charming and she chooses to stay at home with her parents.

The bus idea of going around and visiting all the kids is interesting but I feel like Michelle would get too confused when she's spending time with the younger ones. Plus they'd be living on the bus in many cases because a lot of their children aren't going to have four bedroom houses. I also don't think they'd give away the TTH and go sleep in the guest bedroom. I feel like Jimbob and Michelle plan to die in that house. I could see JD or Joseph getting a non-fundie girl.

While I can see Jim Bob and Michelle passing the house on the Josh as the oldest or whichever child has the most grandchildren, I can just as easily see them turning the house into the DUGGAR FAMILY MUSEUM [tm][/tm], showing re-runs of the show, selling merchandise...

They'll probably do whatever will make the most money. We'll have to see what situation the Duggars are in when they get to that point ;) Maybe people will have forgotten them already, and they'll need another series with a new twist. But if somehow the show lives long enough that they no longer worry or care about money (hard to imagine, with so many children), they might make a museum. Special crafts handmade by the Duggar children/grandchildren, sold for 50 bucks apiece...

Although the idea of DimBob amd DQ giving up the house & traveling around the country spending 2.7 weeks per year at each kid's house sounds appealing, I don't think they will do that. They will maintain the power by hosting major holidays at the compound so that all the kids and grandkids have to come to THEM. Just throw a few or ten air mattresses about and have the youngest share beds, done...all ready for Very Special Christmas episodes for years to come.

I think the chances of a tornado obliterating the TTH are greater than the house being passed down or turned into a museum. Per a source that I will not name but will say is an engineer who works with one of the National Weather Service offices (and who is not close to the Duggars), that house has some major structural flaws despite what we have been told and seen. Most of those TTH kits do.

Even if the chances of the TTH being obliterated in a tornado were next to nil, I still think they would be higher than the chances of any sort of Duggar Family Museum holding any appeal in the longer term. At any rate, it would cost more to insure than it would make. I don't see it being financially viable.

I also don't think they have enough leg humpers to keep a museum in business especially since I don't believe they are close to any other tourist attraction. I mean even Little Rock is a couple hours away. I don't see enough people regularly being willing to make the journey out to their house for a tour especially in at least ten years. My guess is the Duggars aren't going to be that desperate for money after the show ends compared to the Roloffs, Gosselins and Browns the Duggars seem to be saving a good percent of their TLC earnings. If we assume the trips are covered by TLC then they really aren't doing anything extravagant. I mean yes they are getting new clothes and the older kids have iphones but Michelle still only owns like four shirts. I doubt the girls all go out to saloon each week and they aren't moving into four mcmansions. Hopefully they are putting some money towards therapy for Josie but that's probably wishful thinking.

My guess is that when Jimbob has milked the last season out of TLC they'll have enough to cover most costs and actually start leaving and cleaving children. While I'm sure they struggle with doing that with the oldest kids who they actually bonded with I doubt Michelle or Jimbob will have issues leaving and cleaving the howlers or lost girls.

Doesn't surprise me, especially considering they had children building the house.

Little Rock is more than a couple hours away. I can't quite remember, but I'm thinking about five hours. Branson, MO is close by Arkansas standards. XNA (an airport) and I think the Wal-Mart headquarters are in Bentonville, AR which is close, but not exactly tourist attractions. There's that new Wal-Mart sponsored free art gallery that's supposed to be really good, that I think is in Bentonville too. Fayetteville is close and it has a mall (this is exciting in Arkansas!). Eureka Springs is sorta close and they have The Passion of the Christ, and a sh*tty "haunted" hotel.

The likelihood of The Great Passion Play still being open when the show is over isn't great. It's had a lot of financial trouble in the last few years. Though I noticed that they are attempting to expand their offerings. Maybe Benessa will get married there. They have wedding packages $150-$465. That's surely in their budget right?

Thanks I wasn't familiar with the area but I knew that Little Rock was fairly far away. Well fi there is a haunted hotel nearby perhaps they could create a tourist package? A night there then going to visit the Duggars. The big question would be what's scarier?

Did not know that the passion play was having trouble and I'm kinda shocked. I met one of the guys who played Jesus and he was really nice; had two or three kids and his wife wore pants. He didn't wear a wig, he kept his hair long.

What about that huge, huge Jesus statue in Eureka? That used to have big nests on the face. Maybe the next spring wedding can get married underneath that. :D

I used to live in Branson and still keep up on the news from the area. The people who owned it went bankrupt and they weren't sure it was going to open back up a couple of years ago. A group of people formed a 503-c to buy it and open it back up. Now you can go on tours of the Holy Land with them. I hope it stays open. It was always a good show. The 7 story Jesus still kinda freaks me out though.

Seeing as the oldest girls do the majority of cooking, cleaning, schooling, laundry, etc I just can't believe that JB and M are going to be too happy about Jana and Jinger getting married soon. With Jill gone and now Jessa, there's just more work to be done. What would happen if Jana and Jing left??
