Duggars were nominated to do ice bucket challange

There is a video on the TLC facebook page that asks the Duggars (and others) to do the ice bucket challenge for ALS. What are the chances they will do it and donate money? Will Josh fly to Arkansas to help out? I have so many questions and thoughts on this lol

The chances are exactly ZERO there is no way they could be this selfless. But I would pay money to watch it if the did. I've been following the Ice Bucket Challenge really closely - I love that it started in Boston (and that almost all my Bruins have done it).

hey the good thing is it might slow down their libidos for a few seconds. but it is not a fundy christian Charity and they can't preach while doing it.

I could see them doing it for publicity, but not actually donating money. On second thought, wet clothes could be clingy. Nike!

Well they did have a dunk tank at their flea market that everyone did. Except Jim Bob. Jim Bob mysteriously had a sore throat that just happened to creep up on the day of the flea market.

Some Catholics will not donate to ALS research because they use stem cells for the research.

I was just going to post this. One of my Catholic acquaintances said that the main ALS organization allows people to specify that they don't want their donations used for embryonic stem cell research, so the Duggars can't use that as an excuse not to donate (though really, the peer pressure style of pushing donations in this trend is not cool to me so I wouldn't judge them for not donating unless they gave that particular reason).

Fake pigtail, that is true. They can specify that. I read how many charities are now worried that their donations will be down because so many have donated to ALS.

Do the Duggars tithe? What charities do they give to?

I don't know how educated they are on the uses of stem cells for research. But if they're made aware of it (probably though political connections...not as if any of their SOTDRT peers would know), they'd beg off.

The only thing that would make them do this would be a paycheck. If they do it, I suppose the girls would have to wear 10 shirts to avoid NIKE! situations. We've seen Boob get doused with Gatorade, so I don't think they really care about the guys getting wet.

I guess we'll see which wins out...

My grandma and aunt died of ALS. I doubt the Duggars would do the challenge. Besides the stem cell research aspect , I see them only donating time or their face to causes that they have direct experience with like Josie & prematurity or causes that their faith pushes.

I saw Judge Milian of the People's court do the ice bucket challenge recently. Happy more awareness is being brought to ALS, it was horrible to watch my grandma and aunt die this way.

Josh (and Anna) did when they had the car lot according to one of those little pop-ups they had on the show. Josh was picking up a minivan he bought at an auction to give to a family in need with many kids. I wonder if it was to the family, the Schofields, that moved with the goal of being near the Duggars. I can't find the episode/year so I'm not sure.

The Duggars are selfish and only think about themselves. They would come up with a n excuse (jesus) thinks it's not right. It's a sin. It's temptations

If they know about the stem cell research, then I think they won't do it. Or they will explain why stem cell research is exactly the same as murdering Josie right now, then will say they are doing it to bring awareness to xx Christian cause, and do the challenge anyway.

I'd have one qualm about if Nut and Nutschelle did decide to do it, they'd decide for their whole family and not let a few kids decide not to participate. At my age now, I'd gladly dump an ice bucket on my head just for sh*ts and giggles, but at age ten I was a weird kid and would have found it to be really embarassing, especially if someone made me.

The Duggars are as selfless as the Kardashian/Jenner family.

I'm sure they'd do a bucket of cow's blood over their heads for the sake of abortion, but I doubt they'd do anything for another "disease".

Time will tell, but if they say no you know people will all be good for them for standing up for their christian values. Interestingly enough we do not really know their stance on in-vitro which also creates embryos which may not be implanted. As a non related note this post would have been filled with the smiley's but the computer I am using is inserting them for some mysterious reason.

Lawson Bates did it, now they have to since they can't let the Bateses one up them.

He also specifically nominated Smugs to do it.

TBH, I can see Michelle and Boob having John and Joseph and some of the kids do it and then they will say "oh, we did it".

Go Lawson! :D

Another example of why the Bateses are just more likable as people. Yeah, I know they're still fundies, but they stick their money where their mouth is more often than the Duggars do.

It only got 5 comments deep into Lawson's IG feed until someone mentioned that ALS research was "anit-abortion" with pimps to visit their site/blog/whatever it was for more information. I'm sure it boiled down to the stem cells as potential "life" issue.

Smuggar, you're on the clock!

(A bit OT, but I also noticed that Joe Duggar is still at the Bates place. He's been there well over a week.Tori Bates visited the Duggars last month. The Bateseseses are selling off their daughters to well-placed men in their community like the Bennets in Pride and Prejudice...hmmm.....)

Joseph/Tori courtship? They could be cute but they are both so young

Joe's been doing his own thing for a few years now, and Tori isn't the first 18 year old daughter the Bateseseses have allowed to be in a "special friendship" with. If there's anything to it, I doubt it's any more than that at this stage. Joe turns 20 in January, and Tori turns 19 late this year (December, IIRC). It could happen and let's face it, a Bates/Duggar match would be Boob's wet dream, keeping the show on the air for at least two more "seasons."

Joe actually seems one of the more likely candidates for a Bates marriage, to me. He's quiet but also seems very sweet and gentle, he's a hard worker and he's not bad-looking, and he's also very committed to physical fitness (unlike many of the guys in his family). He seems a lot like John David in personality, very low-key, but he strikes me as more intelligent. And he seems to have a slightly sarcastic sense of humor, but not the kind of obnoxious prank humor you see from some of the other Duggar boys. He also hasn't gotten a lot of attention from the show, which might be a bonus for a girl who wants to get married in part to get AWAY from constant surveillance. I could easily see a girl in the Bates family being interested in him.

Somehow they will figure out a way to not do it. Which is fine, but I betcha the Honey Boo Boo people will do it, and do it gladly!

Josh and Anna married when they were 20, Alyssa married at 19, so I wouldn't count them out as being too young.

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

Someone please remind me to buy peanut butter. Seriously, I have been meaning to get some for at least three weeks, and everytime I remember, the shops are already closed!

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
      This is pure evil
