People mag on my Facebook feed just informed me Jessa said yes on Thursday! And so it begins...

This bothers me

"We do have a lot in common," she told PEOPLE during her courtship with Seewald, 19. "He is a mellow personality, very romantic and very sweet. I am very cut and dried. And my sisters are coaching me on sweet romantic things to say."

She says they have a lot in common, then throws out their differences. THEN says her sisters are coaching her on sweet romantic things to say.

Oh Jessa honey... don't change yourself! You shouldn't need to say sweet romantic things that you don't mean. You should sy whats in your heart the way YOU want to say it, not the way everyone else THINKS you shoulsd say it.

So he proposed Thursday night and they announced in People Friday morning.

I bet they have been engaged for months. They can be less transparent in their efforts to get viewers for the next season

Just popped up in my feed as well. I'm not surprised. At 19 Ben probably has his hormones running so amuck that it was bound to happen.

Apparently they want to adopt...hmm....

I think they'll have a lot of relationship issues as time goes on. They just seem very mismatched, in so many ways. Right now, they are probably too caught up in the idea of being a couple, but I think when they have been married for a while, they are going to have problems.

She's getting advice on how to be romantic.. Jessa, if you need to change who you are then obviously you DON'T have anything in common.

He's such a ignorant baby still.

He proposed Thursday, but not this Thursday...

What exactly will he do for a living? I seriously do not know if he has any skills or a career path. I just don't get this relationship at all. He is way too young IMO.

If I were Jessa I would be pissed that I have to live in Josh's old house while Jill and Derick live in that gorgeous house because we all know benboob won't be able to afford them a house of their own. Actually it would have made more sense for jim bob to save that house for Ben and Jessa if he knew he was going to allow them to marry because it's not like Derick couldn't have purchased one for him and Jill with his walmart HQ salary.

This

I agree I bet they have been engaged for many months.

Nothing like pimping out your kids to make money. Shame on Jim Bob...

In their families and religious programming system, divorce really isn't an option. I do predict that Jessa is going to be

extremely unhappy about 5 years down the road. Ben is very unlikely to end up with even a bachelor's degree to support them

and I can't see someone like Jessa being happy with more than two children. I predict that they live on the

Duggar compound after living in Josh's old house at first! JB will finance the building of their home and they will make

mortgage payments to him for the rest of their lives. They are extremely young and will need the $$ from mom and

dad and her siblings help with their own children. The only thing I am excited about is seeing Jessa's wedding dress, hair,

and make up. Jill looked so plain to me.

So, having been thinking about Jessa and what we know of her, I'm beginning to get this.

She is a control freak. She likes everything cut and dried and done HER way.

What better groom for her than a teenage boy who is besotted by her beauty? She'll soon have him doing everything just the way she wants. And she's learned from Michelle how to get the man to feel he's in charge, while the woman is actually controlling the whole show.

I don't see her with a quiverful either. Maybe three or four children within a decade or so, and then maybe her fertility will mysteriously dry up.

He may be the headship, but she will wear the pants.

Maybe this can work after all?

He'll be employed by the Duggar Fame Machine.

He quick his perfectly respectable job at the insurance agency to be a pawn in the TLC game.

I think you might really have a point there. And at least it gets her out from under Boob's authority.

still shaking my head

the people magazine article states that they want to have as many kids as Michelle did - but I don't see Jessa as very motherly - she would much rather stare at her own reflection.

but ben I bet thinks he won the lottery and his world he did

She gets out from under Boob, and she gets to have the seks.

I agree that she will absolutely wear the pants, maybe even literally since the Seewald women all do.

I agree with everyone that they have definitely been engaged for a while now. It's just much too convenient to be announcing their engagement RIGHT before the season premiere. And that explains the new FB cover photo/promotional picture that TLC shot.

UGH. Jessa. Why did you have to pick this one??

Several people on my Facebook newsfeed shared the article earlier. :cray-cray: Why are we all soooo surprised? I also lol'd at Thursday, but not THIS Thursday. :) That would be Duggar-truth. It doesn't have to be true as long as it's kind of true. :liar:

I don't see Jessa actually wanting that many kids. She doesn't seem to have the patience. I have three kids, #3 wasn't planned, and I barely have the patience for them. I love them, but my patience wears pretty thin sometimes. I can't imagine being in a family where I would be expected to pop out as many kids as I possibly could. Poor Jessa, she might be awful, but she shouldn't have to change herself.

I know...right, why so much talk about specifically adopting? Jessa, you have yet to even get marry and try to get pregnant; so, why do your feel the need to make such a statement? Known problem with Ben?

I am pretty sure Jessa didn't really do the picking.

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

Someone please remind me to buy peanut butter. Seriously, I have been meaning to get some for at least three weeks, and everytime I remember, the shops are already closed!

You know what I hate most about subtle racism? The gaslighting. Stop cosplaying as a nice person and say it with your chest.

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
      This is pure evil
