This is so fucking sad. His performance in Dead Poet's Society reached out and touched me at a very tough time in my life and set me on a different track. He will be sorely missed. :(

This is so sad, so many talented people have dealt with depression to the point where it cost them their lives. RIP Robin, you will be missed.

One of my favorite bits NSFW

I was watching Jumanji when this news broke. I'll be in the corner, weeping, while I finish this. :romance-heart:

This is terrible news! How ironic someone who gave so much laughter found life unbearable.

Someone I dated knew Robin in the 90's. The way Robin in real life was described to me was that, "... he has been open about the fact he has always heard voices in his head." A lot of his comedy came from channeling a somewhat unsteady grasp on reality.

I always thought Robin William's struggles with drugs and alcohol stemmed from attempts to self-medicate.

Poor dear man, RIP.

I cannot believe this... I jumped on facebook, and it looks like within the last hour it was reported that Robin Williams died. I'm hoping its a hoax... but Huffington Post has it too, and don't they usually check sources?

Beloved actor Robin Williams died at the age of 63 on Monday, authorities and his wife have confirmed.

Police were the first to announce the death of Williams, who was discovered “unconscious and not breathing inside his residence†in Tiburon, California. A police report was the original source of the announcement.

“The Sheriff’s Office Coroner Divison suspects the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia,†the report stated.

Williams wife Susan Schneider issued a statement shortly after police released theirs. “This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human begins. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.â€

Said his publicist in a separate statement today, “He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss.â€

An investigation into his death is now underway.

In July the actor had checked himself into rehab after troubles with alcohol. A statement from his rep to TMZ at the time said, “After working back-to-back projects, Robin is simply taking the opportunity to fine-tune and focus on his continued commitment, of which he remains extremely proud.â€

Williams is best known for roles in Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society, Aladdin, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Jumanji.

More recently, the actor starred on CBS’ The Crazy Ones.

Oh captain, my captain.

I was never able to watch Dead Poets Society without crying.

For any of you too young to have watched Good Morning Vietnam, here's a sample of true genius:

RIP.

This is horrendous. He was so memorable in so many different things. A really unique force in Hollywood. He could do so much. I am astonished at the outpouring of grief from fans and other actors and even just the people on my Facebook feed - literally everyone, film fan or not, is saying something, which I can't recall for any celebrity who died in recent memory (except maybe Michael Jackson). It just goes to show how deep his effect was on people of all ages and backgrounds. What a talent. What a legend. RIP.

Just devastated :(

He gave my family so many laughs and so much enjoyment - from watching Mork and Mindy in the eighties with friends, through to seeing my children love his voices in Aladdin, until they were old enough to love his irreverent stand up comedy.

Such a big hearted man as well, who honoured his promise to Christopher Reeve to care for Reeves' wife and son.

Nanu nanu :( RIP Robin - hope you found the peace you craved.

And the LA Times is reporting it as suicide! I grew up with him. I feel like I know him. These things don't usually upset me but I am floored!

I'm absolutely heartbroken over this, I grew up watching all his movies. It does sound like a suicide, but part of me hopes that it wasn't.

I had no idea that Robin heard voices in his head, I always thought it was part of his act. I knew he struggled with substance abuse, but this genuinely shocked me.

You will be missed, Robin. Rest in Peace.

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

Someone please remind me to buy peanut butter. Seriously, I have been meaning to get some for at least three weeks, and everytime I remember, the shops are already closed!

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
      This is pure evil
