The Most Neglected Duggar Kid

Who's the most neglected Duggar kid? think most of us agree that Jordyn is the most neglected Duggar kid. While Jennifer held the same spot, Jordyn lost a lot of bonding time with her parents during the Josie ordeal. She was only 6 months when Michell got pregnant with Josie. JOhanna seems to have fund her place among the howlers. It's not that any of them get that much attention from Boob and Jchelle, but each kid mean less and less time.

I think that depends. While the youngers didn't get any attention from their parents and were raised by their sisters, the olders had to do the work of their parents while they were still children themselves. Jordyn I think was robbed of the little time she would have had as her mothers "buddy" because of Josie. But the others didn't get much more time with their parents, maybe a few weeks more than Jordyn. Also, the youngest Duggars might get more time with J'Chelle and Boob as the olders start leaving the home. I think it's too soon to really tell.

I can't even tell the Howlers apart, but Nut and Nutschelle probably can. I'd agree that Jordyn is probably the most neglected, because Jennie had Jill as a buddy who gave her a lot more attention than Jessa gives her buddies. Still, even though she's more neglected than the J'slaves, Jordyn still gets to play, so I'm not sure at all that she's worse off than, say, Jana.

I actually don't think it's Jordyn or any of the little girls who were parented by teen girls who were most neglected, I think it's all the younger boys who were born when Michelle was utterly overwhelmed in their small home but before the older girls were up to bonding with and raising them. They copped the old pearl influenced Duggar discipline then disappeared into an interchangeable mass of boys.

Even now Jackson is the only one who really seems to ever be focused on at all, and that's generally in conjunction with Hannie.

Tween and teen boys aren't generally easily controllable, cute and attractive, so they aren't as important to the brand as Josh, Josiah, the older daughters and the little girls are.

Do they celebrate Jordyn's birthday at all? I didn't expect to see anything of her first, the Josie ordeal greatly overshadowed that (although, in a way, it would have been good for the whole family to have something to celebrate, but whatever) but I don't recall, as I've been watching on Netflix, them ever even mentioning Jordyn's birthday? Josie's, yes, but not Jordyn's.

The last few years they have filmed episodes celebrating Jordyn, Mackynzie and Josie all being the same age at once, usually around Josie's birthday.

I'm assuming and hoping that her birthday is also celebrated privately on her actual birthday - judging by Instagram they do have cake and decorations at home for birthdays when TLC isn't filming and sponsoring a special outing for footage.

I certainly hope they each get something special on their individual days... I wouldn't be too happy, as a small child, to share my birthday with my niece! The idea that they do something special for the kids on their birthdays seemed genuine when they've talked about it, I hope it is :#

Jordyn. She was Michelle's favourite for less than any other kid, as the age gap between her and Josie is the smallest, and because Josie was so sick when she was born, Josie got all of the attention, but the then 11 month old Jordyn was left out. She also only has a few weeks between her birthday and Josie's, which means that not only was her parents thinking about newborn Josie on her first birthday, she has constantly had to share a party. She will be forever in the shadow of Josie, who is the youngest and Michelle's favourite.

The Howlers are pretty neglected too, they are just the bunch of boys nobody can tell apart.

I imagine the kid who was born at around the time of Michelle's breakdown (think it was about the 7th) and any more who were toddlers then...or pretty much all of them, were very neglected over this period of time, as nobody was able to look after them-even Josh would have been tiny at this time, so the early buddy system would be really hard (Did Jana get a buddy at Jenny's age???), but now these older ones are older and are more in the spotlight and don't need as much attention, they aren't as neglected, it doesn't matter so much that they barely have parents (but they still do need parents who care about them and show them love).

I think they all need more love and care than their parents currently show them :(

Just an fyi: The gap between Jordyn and Josie's birthdays is 8 days.... they're the same age for 8 days :evil-eye:

Jordyn may be the most neglected by her parents, but the Duggar friends make up for it. It seems like most of them have Jordyn as their favorite. I don't know if its just that Jordyn is the awesome one, or if the Duggar family friends notice Jordyn getting neglected too. Joy's friends Elizabeth and Beth used to argue on Instagram when it was public who Jordyn's buddy was.

I think its the boys. That whole slew of sons around Joy that they barely focus on at all. The little ones, even Jordyn, had their older sisters to raise them but I don't see anyone particularly focused on that group of boys at all.

I agree. We feel sorry for Jordyn and Jenny because they're cute little girls. But because of that I think they get at least a little attention from their sister moms and maybe family friends. I guess the most neglected kids are indeed the howlers, especially the ones who came after the Jed and Jer.

I think it's probably the boys. I do feel really bad for Jordyn, she was probably so confused when she was little. The little girls are cute, and they're GIRLS, so they seem to get more attention just because of that. I feel like Justin, James and Jason probably got neglected the most, followed closely by Jed, Jer, Jordyn and Jennifer. Jackson and Hannie had a lot of attention together. It probably wasn't as bad for them.

Maybe Justin. He came right after James, who I have no doubt got a lot of attention (though not necessarily "good" attention), and right before Jackson was born on TV. Youngest of 14 and 5th boy in a row before the media came along.

Agreed. That whole slew of boys is just crying out for some quality time and attention, especially the quieter ones like Jed/Jer/Justin.

That's why I believe Jed and Jer will be the ones to break out of Duggarville. They were born right in the middle of the birthing order probably suffer the most from middle child syndrome. Remember in the first Duggar special all the kids were introducing themselves and Jed first called himself Josiah. Major identity crisis there kiddo.

Jordyn for sure. She definitely got the short end of the stick with Miracle Josie coming just before her first birthday. She's such a cute kid.

This thread and the observations about the boys reminds me of something Ayaan Hirsi Ali once wrote in one of her books. She discusses how when she, her younger sister, and her older brother were all children, her father actually preferred Ayaan and her sister over their brother. He would dote on his girls, and then neglect and berate the brother, telling him in many different ways that he wasn't good enough, but expecting him to grow up to dominate in his endeavors because he was a man in a patriarchal society.

There were other factors in play for the siblings, but Ayaan grew up and eventually broke free of the conditioning and cult mentality of her faith, following her father into politics. Ayaan's brother, on the other hand, grew up to be a shiftless drug addict. He suffered from a real lack of guidance as a child, despite the fact that he was expected to grow up and become a patriarch because he was a boy. (Ayaan's sister, who was emotionally frail and schizophrenic, eventually committed suicide).

There's an interesting parallel in effect here. The middle Duggar boys don't seem to get the same focus and attention that their sisters do, and in Josh's case, we've seen Jim Bob hand him a business. If this pattern continues, one where Jim Bob plans to go through life handing jobs to his sons, he and Michelle are only going to set them up to be complete failures. They tell their sons that they must be patriarchs who will one day rule and support their families, but how are the boys to build the self-esteem and work ethic necessary to achieve this if they are being ignored in favor of their pretty sisters, who are being groomed and promoted for marriage? If all the focus is devoted to the Duggar daughters, then what will be left for the sons?

Now that Jill is married isn't she required to take her Sibling Children to her new home with her??

If you ask me: Jana. While I do think that the Howler boys get ignored, they still get the whole spiel about being male, and therefore more important or some such ATI nonsense. Jana just gets to sacrifice over, and over again. And has to be happy about it.

That makes sense. Also, as the oldest girl, and one of the first buddies, she was caring for her younger siblings at such a little age...and while she was doing that, who was looking after Jana? At least the other kids had Jana looking after them, even if she probably couldn't do it well as she was only tiny herself at the time and would still have needed looking after, but Jana didn't get much love and attention.

I think the real question would be which kid was not severely neglected. I can only think of maybe Josh (as he is the oldest and a boy) and Josie.

I would maybe add Hannie. She was the first girl after all those boys, and she definitely had Boob wrapped around her finger for some time. Plus, she isn't afraid to DEMAND attention.

It may be right about the boys no getting much attention. Jordyn and Josie and maybe Jennifer shared a bed with their older sisters which perhaps didn't happen with the boys. I read something on ex Quiverfull blogs and or those from larger families in general that middle kids tend to be most neglected.I do agree you seldom hear anything about the interests or views of the boys. I think they once said Jackson got a great deal of attention since they didn't know if there would be any more babies. And I think it was after Jackson the doc told Michelle to stop.

I think Joe was overlooked a lot because he was quiet. Many Duggar snarkers called Josiah "Smugger Jr" when he was younger because he was so much like Josh and I think Josh gave him a lot of attention.

After Joe, I think Jason, James and Justin are lost boys too. Jer and Jed had each other. Jackson was the last boy but hooked himself up with Hannie.

I do think all of them from Jinger on down have probably been neglected, but they know no other way. I'm sure those weekly meetings with their parents make up for never seeing them during the other 6 days, 23-3/4 hour.

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
