What is ATI?

I've been looking all around this site and the net in general and I can't find anything that says what this is! Can someone explain? All I can gather is that it's something to do with Gothard....

They have "training centers" that parents pay to have their kids work there. Gothard's entire empire is built on not just free labor, but getting people to pay him for the joy of working for him. He does have different events like Journey to the heart (think that is the one the Duggars went to) and EXCEL that is more like "camps", but they take place in the training centers. He has them all over the world.

What do they make them do there? Is it just like prayer, and helping out with publicity, or something else? Is it the same for guys and girls? I assume not, but I can't think how it would be different cus I don't know what they're doing.

ATI is a way of life. They have retreats-'Journeys'-for mothers, fathers, sons and daughters. All Duggar kids are part of this http://www.alertcadet.org/ or http://dallas.iblp.org/program_preexcel.html. Every member who can afford to wants to go on at least on mission trip but it It seems to me the expense of all these activities limits participation to the wealthy inner circle of Gothard families.

If you pay to work there you do everything from cooking to cleaning to yard work to maintaining the building. I think you can work your way up to doing office work and stuff. I think you do go out and "minister" some, but mostly you work. When I went to EXCEL at the Dallas training center, we only cleaned our own rooms, the rest of the time was spent learning about courtship, being submissive, and things like that. We were allowed outdoors for an hour a day at a local park, we were forbidden to talk to anyone outside of ATI and had to ignore people who asked why there were all these girls in long navy skirts, white shirts and tennis shoes walking in at the park.

ATI does have mission trips, but they are usually associated with Gothard's conferences and involve teaching his Character First classes.

Their headquarters is like 15 minutes from my parents house in Chicago. I had no idea they had homeschoolin' crazies up there. I never met any during my childhood. Where I live now is another story, but never in Chicago.

Planning on scheduling my ankle surgery around Trump's Georgia trial - if I'm forced to be off my feet, I might as well be entertained.

And yes, the Church actually has a blessing for beer.
      Amen.

      Stupid loneliness!
Kid 1 went back to college (yeah! But sad foe me, she stayed with me all summer. It was nice to start a new phase in our mother/daughter relationship)
Zero prospects on dates. (Not that I have tried online dating, scared of that but I have reached put to a new group at church, etc.
I asked a friend to go to dinner the other night so I wasn't eating alone, again. The friend had plans, all my friends always have plans. I see stuff on social media, I'm never invited. I'm single, I'm the 3rd or 5th wheel.
My one parent friend at kid 2's fall sport won't be there because their daughter made varsity (Yeah for her!!! Seriously happy for her. Sad for me for another sport I basically sit alone, did that majority of spring and summer sporting events.)
And now I'm crying as my mom told me 2 different funny stores that former teachers remembered about my twin. Both stories were about how they got a crack out of my twin's antics (my parents went to a funeral today and saw former colleagues). Teachers remember me (after all I was a twin and teachers' kid) but none would have memorable stories of me.
      I feel invisible.
Don't worry, this will pass,  it always does. I just need a pity party for a few days. I'm not in anyway going to harm myself. As lonely as I am, I have a very full life I (usually) love. I just needed to vent and cry for a moment.
If you are still reading this, thanks Fjer. 😊

Absolutely awful about the fires on Maui. In 2019, I stayed in Lahaina. I liked to sit on the sea wall, which is the only structure left now, and watch the water. People are receiving help, but many had to leave pets. Please donate to the Maui Humane Society, which is leading efforts to find, treat, and reunite pets.

Nebraska’s new football coach, who is involved in an organization called Man Up Ministries, labels certain players “Alphas” and sometimes “extreme Alphas” and the local paper has a nice piece on why people objecting to the term “alpha male” are wrong and it has a “nice ring”. 🤮🤮🤮🤮
