I got to see a sneak peek preview of it at a movie theater last week and it is AWESOME. They do a great job with translating it to the screen w/out losing any of the feel of the story.

There is a great deal of voice-over narration by Claire to help fill in the blanks. Some people are put off by that but I didn't find it intrusive or anything. I think it helped everythign flow well.

I don't get Starz, but hear it is being shown on Showcase in Canada (starting on the 24th). Looking forward to it!

I don't get Starz either, but apparently if you are a US Comcast customer you can still watch it for free on demand.

Completely agree! I couldn't wait either, but the DVR is set and I can't wait to see the first one again.

I liked it! I thought it was a bit slow in the beginning, but the second half was entertaining. It shows promise. I could see and hear a resemblance to Battlestar Galactica a couple times (percussion-heavy music while running through the woods comes to mind.) With the genealogy and history, it's right up my alley.

You would be hearing that resemblance because Bear McCreary composed the music for both shows! I love his work.

I can't afford Starz, but I read most of the Highlander series books.

I didn't think I got Starz, but it might be something my cable system is doing as they've done before with other premium channels. I hope it's not only a week they allow it for free, as it looked like a good show from what I've seen.

I've watched 4 times. I'm so excited for next week!!! I figured episode 1 would start out slow, since book 1 does as well.

I'm a hardcore Outlander fan girl (traveled out of state 3 times to meet Diana Gabaldon at signings) and am so happy to see my beloved characters come to life. If it had ended up being a movie I would not have watched because it would have surely been a disappointment, but as a series it has so much promise. I've been really impressed with Ron Moore's interviews stating his dedication to stay true to the story.

Jealous!! She didn't come within 8 hours of me this time around, and I did not have the funds for a hotel room and gas. My mom always comes with me. She's the one who introduced me to the books about 12 years ago.

We haven't had broadcast tv in quite some time and had been considering getting Dish or something this winter, and this show made my decision (and made it happen earlier)! I was too scared of not being able to watch online immediately somewhere.

I live just north of Seattle, so didn't even have to shell out for a hotel :)

I'm glad you got it on TV though! So worth it!

I heard about these books via a co-worker who loves the book series (I haven't read them myself...I'm not much of a reader).

I enjoyed the show. I think DH felt it was a bit too slow, but him and I have different tastes when it comes to TV.

Damn, Jamie is quite hunky. I wouldn't mind looking up that kilt hahaha! :nanner-sex: :obscene-sexualspermblue::romance-adore: :big-heart: :romance-heartbeating::romance-hearteyes::romance-heartstiny::romance-heartsthree::romance-heartspink::romance-heartsmiley::romance-heartsfade::romance-hearteyes::romance-inlove::romance-interracial::romance-lovebluered::romance-romance::romance-lovegoddess::text-freedom::text-freedom::text-freedom::text-freedom::text-freedom::text-freedom::text-freedom::text-freedom::text-freedom::text-freedom::text-freedom::text-freedom::text-freedom::text-freedom::text-freedom::text-freedom::text-freedom::text-freedom::text-freedom::text-freedom::text-freedom:

  • 2 weeks later...

Mr. Sunny knows how much I love this series, and has been watching it with me. It's interesting seeing/hearing about it through him, since he hasn't read the books. He does feel things are slow, but feels like you can follow the story without having read the books. He doesn't enjoy it as much as I do, but he does enjoy teasing me about it can refers to it as my girls porn :-)

From the reviews, it'll start to pick up in the next few episodes. Of course, we're only getting eight at a time, and will have to wait until the Spring for the next eight. It's already been renewed for a second season, and if they do one book per season, season two will be Dragonfly in Amber which is my favorite book of the whole series.
