I agree that she would be horribly judgmental behind her brainless perkiness, but her reaction to Madelyn's education would depend on how she lives her life now. Is Madelyn using her degree, having a life outside smiling stupidly at her husband? Then the disapproval would be huge. Otherwise, as long as she lives the "right" way I doubt Jill will think anything of it.

Their story sounds quite similar to Jill and Derick's. They met at training, but carried on a Skype relationship for a while. They also only had three months between their engagement and wedding.

I don't think that's fair. First off, he isn't ugly; his face just doesn't match the standard that his butt sets. Second, yes he's a Conservative Christian, but given that, I don't find him particularly offensive. He isn't Ben smothering us with ABORTION is BADONG! nonsense. I even read one of his essays in which he says we shouldn't feel bad about things we can't do, because if we can't do it, then it's not our purpose in life. It wasn't bad.

I never said he was ugly and I don't think he is, but I will admit that I don't find him attractive. I could've sworn there was something on his Facebook or twitter that I took offense to, but I can't remember it or find it, so I will retract my statement about him not being nice, because I truly don't know if he is or not.

His butt is definitely nice, though.

Jill was studying to be a midwife when Josie was a baby. Does it really take that long? And why should she have to hive it up to be a housewife? She should be allowed to have a career along with whatever Derrick does. Her life shouldn't be baby making just because she's married, and she's a Duggar. What if Jill wanted to have a career or GASP go to college? Is she supposed to give up her dreams because Derrick is her new controller?

She COULD have a career and be a mom, but she'd need a lot of support to do it while living the lifestyle she's always advocated. Midwife hours are incredibly unpredictable, and it's almost impossible to do if you have significant responsibilities elsewhere. If she could arrange to be able to just drop her future kids off at TTH whenever she got a call, it could work...but that might take too much time. It would be even harder with homeschooling, however, as she'd have to interrupt lessons to attend a birth. Plus she could be up all night attending....and then come home to a house of small children. Again, unless she has help (a sister?), that's not really going to be a feasible situation.

Jill has never given any indication, ever, that she would want to be a working mother. She explicitly stated once that the midwifery thing was something to do until she got married. She could have all the support in the world and she still wouldn't go back to her midwifery "studies." It's not about lack of options, it's about her being the biggest kool aid drinker and not have the tiniest desire to be anything but a housewife.

It's so sad that Jill sees this as a treat, and one that is IG-worthy. My fiancé and I go out for dinner regularly, sometimes to fancy places and sometimes to the local mall.

I had a look around and saw children in barrels squishing the grapes. I find it funny that at a grape festival, that is the only subtle reference to wine on the whole website. Here in Aus we have a whole festival devoted to good food and wine that goes around the country every year. It's called (you guessed it) The Good Food and Wine Show, and it advertises using a big ol' glass of wine.

A dozen births a year is not enough. You gain skill through practice. I'd not want to be anywhere near a midwife that only attended a dozen births annually.
